Had so much fun at @vampiricsheep‘s Mists Party yesterday! From four Scarlet Briars to some incredibly fun bar-tending (Jennah will never make me pay for my crimes!), the delightful chaos finished off with a free-for-all arena brawl with everyone taking sides to throw hands across the Mists. Pictured above are Ruficient doing a jig, Fíondorach, sleidog‘s @little-leaf-man​‘s Hosea Sleí, and my norn Aesa Skybrand!

Aesa Skybrand made her RP debut this event, and the brawl was the stuff norn legends are made of. Pictured here with my good friend Majami Heart, whose dog Cosmo (a good boi) unfortunately had the unpleasant habit of eating me alive on the battlefield.

Local madlad Grehgoryio (left) also dropped in for a drink and a fight!

And on the red team, we have the devil themselves, Sheep, Majami (hidden behind the blood fiend), Necromancy Barbie, and Zori Sunblade!

✨ SPARKLE - what is their most prized possession? what do they value?

Hidden deep in the depths of his pack (but kept on him at all times) is a tiny little token of affection from Aurene. A little splinter from a broken Caladbolg is in there too. So as much as he likes to pretend he doesn't, he values sentimentality and will desperately hold onto the past

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Just barely, but if you know him, it's noticeable. He's pretty flippant and shallow with most people, even friends and family, but if he's really close with someone, he'll allow for some vulnerability that makes him seem like an open wound in comparison to his usual self

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

Hot drinks, definitely. He is fond of a coffee every now and then, but his absolute favorite is some hot winterberry tea with a dash of honey

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Anything involving affection or vulnerability. He can pretend to be jovial or angry or sad when needs press, but if he's faced with a situation where he has to be soft and either provide comfort or express a need for it, he's hopeless

🍀 CLOVER - do they believe in luck? are they lucky?

If you asked him, he'd say no, he's a practical person, but yes, he does believe in luck. He was a pirate before he was anything else, so those sea-faring superstitions are ground in hard. He is not a very lucky individual, all things in his life considered

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why?

The cusp between spring and summer, when the days are beginning to get longer and hotter. He just enjoys the sunny afternoons and all the bright, vibrant colors that begin to emerge. It's also the season that fits his aesthetic the most

Do they have a favorite mount?

It's Frigg! That skyscale has been with them through everything, and although they have gotten a few more mounts now, Frigg will always be their baby

People with Commander ocs, is there any part of the main story where your oc's story diverges? Everyone else, is there a part of your oc's story that follows the canon one?

How good of a leader are they?

from a practical standpoint, Fíon is an exemplary leader: unflappable, down to earth, calm and collected, ready to command. It comes from years of being commander, and his entire existence before that as a ship captain. His only fallacy is his disconnectedness. He struggles with empathizing sometimes because he's learned early on not to get too connected with the people he was helping lest he be burned by either betrayal or their inevitable death. So often he does have to be reminded that kindness will often get him more than a weapon will

okay I lied, I've thought about it some and now I've got Things to say about What Lies Beneath

overall, I gotta say it's definitely one that won't leave much of an impression on me. It was fun, cute in moments, but didn't carry the emotional impact I had been hoping it would. I personally didn't feel like it resolved much, but perhaps that is because I was playing on Glaw, and in my canon, since they're new to the commandering gig, they don't really have any emotional connection to any of the characters we have the option of reflecting on (save for Mai Trin and Cinder). Maybe that'll change when I replay on Fíondorach, who does have that emotional rapport with those characters

Fíondorach lore dump!

Fíondorach is an older sylvari, probably 4th or 5th gen, and he’s roughly around 19 years old at the time of the personal story. As soon as he was allowed to wander off by himself, he ended up on the Krytan coast and became enamored with the sea and the beautiful ships that were docking at the ports. The adoration quickly turned into a bout of grand theft auto, and he commandeered one of the ships, The Ace, and set sail as a green-eared pirate captain with a motley crew of former street rats.

Of course, the first few years were rough, but time brought hard-won experience, and Fíondorach and the ship’s name became feared in the southern waters. The Ace followed a seasonal path from Lion’s Arch all the way to Amnoon, pillaging any unfortunately rich soul they happened to come across. With the rising of the Elder Dragons, and with it the Pact, the waters became more treacherous, and Fíondorach and his crew were forced to stick closer to the shores. They began to target party barges and rich coastal estates. (One fateful raid even landed them with an annoying prisoner/fresh recruit who ended up becoming an on-again, off-again fling for Fíondorach.)

Times changed for Fíondorach when he was struck with the dream of a Wyld Hunt one night, urging him to leave the safety of the Krytan Coast and head eastward towards Orr. There, he came across a bedraggled Pact attempting to take down Zhaitan, and acting more on self-preservation that true altruism, he and his crew helped to defeat the dragon. In the process, his ship was made into splinters, and most of his crew was lost to the waves. Fíondorach himself nearly drowned, but he was pulled from the waters by Pact hands. He found the organization in mourning, having lost a fresh-faced Commander in the last blow against Zhaitan. Crewless and shipless, Fíondorach was all but conscripted into service with the Pact, and he spent the following months helping the crumbling Pact try and rebuild. As the threat of Mordremoth loomed, he found himself being thrust into the spotlight as he gained reputation as being ruthless and effective at killing the mordrem with a mind for planning and details. And so he found himself being introduced to Destiny’s Edge and the leaders of the Pact. Right before the campaign against Mordremoth began, Fíondorach was given the title of Commander.

His body markings used to be a much lighter teal blue, and his hair hadn’t developed its signature blue yet. He began growing out the fronds after the events of Scarlet Briar
