13 of Our Favorite Buffalo Things of 2018

2018 was quite the year for Buffalo. News of Buffalo’s recent renaissance spread far and wide, the most famous Buffalo food received the honor it deserves, and the city continued to transform before our very eyes.

Needless to say, there was a lot to love about 2018. As we look back on the past 365 days, we wanted to share some of our personal favorite things from what might just be Buffalo’s best year yet! Take a look:

‘Wildflowers for Buffalo’ on the Sinclair Building:

Ziplining at Riverworks:

Farm Fresh Pizza at West Side Tilth:

“Just a few blocks from my house on Buffalo’s West Side, there’s a small community garden that had the bright idea to start whipping up pizzas using portable pizza cookers and, of course, ingredients pulled straight from the ground. The sausage and fennel pie is my go-to. My Tuesday night dinners have never been so delicious!”           – Drew Brown, Marketing Manager at Visit Buffalo Niagara

The Year of Buffalo Food:

“2018 was a great year for food in Buffalo. Mike A. of Seabar and Steve Gedra of Black Sheep both appeared on Beat Bobby Flay, the New York Times featured Las Puertas and Root + Bloom, Arthur Bovino wrote one of the most comprehensive Buffalo food books ever, Bon Appetit’s Alex Delany sampled some of Buffalo’s best wings, chef Victor Parra Gonzalez was nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award, and the Cooking Channel spent quite a bit of time in town at places like Doc Sullivan’s, Fat Bob’s and Ru’s Pierogi.

Icons at the Buffalo History Museum:

“Ok, so technically this one launched in 2017, but really found its footing in 2018. The City of Buffalo app and has been making parking easier in Buffalo ever since. No need for quarters or credit cards, you can pay for your street parking right from your phone.
