Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam:

The FE exam is essentially the first step in the process of getting your PE licensure. The FE exam is a 6-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) and includes 110 questions. Students in their final year of college and recent graduates can take this exam. It would be essential if you take the exam in the senior year of college or soon after graduation because the concepts will still be fresh in your mind, and you will have better chances of passing the exam.

Gain work experience

Once you have passed the FE exam, you will become an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or an Engineer Intern (EI). You can now start working as a petroleum engineer under a licensed PE.

The Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam

How long should I give myself to study for the FE exam Preparation?

Passing the FE test and registering as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is nearly always required if you want to work as an entry-level engineer with an engineering firm.
