The Nibelheim Incident is in part so captivating because even with two to three eyewitnesses, the exact exact sequence of events can still be hard to pin down and requires a fair bit of dot connecting on the audience's part. Did Cloud ever leave the town that night, or was he right in the thick of it when the fire started? In what order did every important party enter the reactor? Which of Cloud's memories are actually wholly his or Zack's and which are a blend of the two?
It's event we'll never exactly know down to everyone's movements, because the strange mix of Cloud's own perceptions of the night, and the fact that both Cloud and Zack are unreliable narrators.
Which is cool as hell from a storytelling perspective, but makes the entire thing a minor undertaking to write fanfic about.
#ff7 has this cool thing going on where a lot of the plot importance events have two versions:#the way they happened and the way Cloud remembers them happening#and some of the minor stuff. we can never really be sure about because CLOUDS unsure about them#see: if Cloud ever actually visited his mother or not#which is so cool as a member of the audience#if I want to actually write about it all? that means I the author need to actually know more than Cloud Strife#final fantasy vii#final fantasy 7#ffvii#ff7#compilation of final fantasy vii
