my my, all the students piling in with their heavy trunks, and whether it be totally necessary or a grand display of wealth, you can be the judge. my eyes, however, go to the names—their last names. we are lucky, or unlucky, to have some very prominent wizard families and others without a whisper or a penny to their name. no, that wasn't a callout, or at least you can't prove it. i am very eager to learn more about what made our many students the way they are. perhaps happy stories of a family full of love or dark family ties that threaten the nature of our very school! there's no better drama than family.

we are introducing a new task for fideliushqs! this is an opportunity to show off your own wizard family by creating a family template. what do the parents look like? the siblings? extended family? their personalities and relationships with your muse can be elaborated on here. be sure to tag it as #fhqstask002.

halloween. a night known for ghosts, ghouls, and all things spooky; wix very much included. exactly why it's become such a massive celebration at hogwarts year after year. duh! this year's party will feature a costume contest voted on by your fellow students, so make sure you dress to impress! this spooktacular event will also have live music by none other than THE spellbound!! if you think i'm not excited, you are so sorely mistaken! read between the exclamation marks, people! who knows, maybe their next big scandal will result from the evening's festivities! one can only dream.

now onto the boring bit.

we expect everyone to be on their very best behavior, lest you be immediately asked to leave and not allowed to return. drunken and/or violent behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and you will be forcibly escorted from the premises if necessary. blah blah blah... ugh we really need a cooler supervisor.

the event will begin on october 26 at 12am est/5am gmt, and will run until october 31 at 11:59pm est/4:59am gmt.

in correspondence with the event, our first mini task will be costume creation! this can be done via a graphic, or, if that’s not your style, you can also write up a description of the costume if you’d like. these can be posted under the fhqstask001 and fhqsevent001 tags, as well as the edits thread of the link channel in the discord.

it is with a deeply heavy heart that i interrupt your school break with this tragic update. a recent bout of targeted attacks have been tied to the escape of seven death eaters in november, each resulting in a death. the victims have been named as algie longbottom, haskell bobbins, madam rosmerta, delphine kim, arthur weasley, amos diggory, and amelia bones. according to witness statements, the attacks were indeed coordinated, with each murder taking place with an utterance of the killing curse just as the clock struck midnight and took us into the new year.

our condolences go out to the families of the witches and wizards that we have lost.

full investigations are being made into these attacks, and the ministry is encouraging any and all witnesses to reach out to the department of magical law enforcement as soon as possible. this is not a matter they are taking lightly, as their head witch is amongst those taken.

i know i am not alone in taking this to be the statement they meant it to be. harry potter, the chosen one, is lost, and the death eaters are done hiding.

for those curious, the exact pairs of victim and attacker can be found under the cut. we've opted to keep them hidden from the main article out of respect for the grieving friends and families.

ooc note: as these attacks were done very publicly with the purpose of sending a message, this is all public knowledge that you can play with in threads! the location of each murder will be determined by the relative of the victim where applicable, or the relative of the death eater if the victim's family is not yet in game.
