here's a snip from "the full spectrum of human emotion" aka the proposal au aka my child aka my beloved:

They go back and forth, questions flying to fill the flight time. Alex learns about Henry’s morning routine (rigid, a bed-maker through and through) and his favorite cologne (something expensive he’s currently wearing, clean linens and fresh grass meant to drive Alex completely fucking insane), and Henry learns about Alex’s guilty pleasures (eating cajeta straight from the container while watching trashy reality tv) and the last thing that made him cry (an Instagram reel of baby goats). Many opinions are exchanged, numerous jokes made—mostly at Henry’s expense, he makes it way, way too easy. It feels a little too natural and lighthearted and Alex is free falling as he learns more and more about Henry Fox-Mountchristen, little details that add color to his life, softening the harsh edges and melting the cold exterior. Alex feels pretty fucking good about it all, until he realizes they haven’t touched on a major topic, one that is relatively uncharted territory for the both of them.

proposal au titled "the full spectrum of human emotion" coming eventually. there is spanking involved:

Alex leans closer to Henry's ear, watching a lone drop of sweat slide down the man's temple, and whispers, “I did say you were allowed, sweetheart.”  Henry's cheeks go a lurid shade of pink, almost glowing from within under the lights. He takes a second to assess, landing on a decision surely meant to end Alex's life prematurely. Extinguished in his youth; death by over-the-clothes lap dance spanking.  He raises his hand and brings it down with a swift crack and Alex feels it through his jeans, all the way to the blood vessels pounding in his temples. But Henry doesn't stop there. No, he goes the extra mile, goddamn overachieving fuck he is, and squeezes. Alex is going to die in this fucking bar. If the bull didn’t do it, and the dancing didn’t do it, it’s definitely going to be the fucking spanking. The patrons are wolf-whistling, Nora is yelling all sorts of dirty encouragement, and Alex. Well, Alex is over the fucking moon.  “That's the best you got, baby boy?” “I suggest you don't push me right now, Alex, if you don't want to cause a scene in this lovely bar.”

here's a snip from the proposal au titled "the full spectrum of human emotion" which required some...research on roop's part. enjoy lol:

Alex swings one leg around to straddle Henry, one hand holding onto the chair, another resting on Henry’s shoulder. His hips do a slow, dirty grind on a very stressed Henry, taking on a life of their own. Alex is feeling wholly possessed by the horny ghost of cowboy Matthew McConaughey from Magic Mike, a series he felt compelled to revisit after his late-stage bisexual awakening. He tries to focus on the beat of the music, the warmth of Henry’s chest as Alex sways up and down. The bass line of “Pony” has nothing on the thudding of his heart roaring in his ears.  Henry's face tips back as he takes in Alex in his current state—sweaty, gyrating, focused. His eyes close, but not before Alex sees his pupils blown out, only a ring of blue visible. Alex offers up a prayer of gratitude to Steven Soderbergh for giving him a series of movies that is directly responsible for the very delicious position he's in right now. As a self-respecting cowboy, he isn't planning on looking a gift horse in the mouth. Or a gift pony, he should say.

here's a snip from proposal au titled "the full spectrum of human emotion" which also now has gorgeous art from @seanchaidh7 eeeeep! so naturally i pulled from that section for this:

Henry is looking expectantly at Alex, something buried in his gaze that Alex's liquor-addled brain can't fully comprehend. It looks not dissimilar to his eyes when he had wrapped large fingers around Alex's waist at the engagement party and pulled him a little closer after meeting Liam for the first time. Unfortunately, the thought is really just as fucking appealing now as it was during that party. He can't be fucking helped. "Yeah, I was just going to go get a drink anyway." Liam shoots Henry a small smile, squeezes Alex's bicep in goodbye, and walks away.  "Jealous, are we?" Alex can't help but needle him just a little. "It's okay if you are, I won't stop you." The idea of Ice Queen Henry being green with envy is doing a lot for Alex and his neurons right now. He really is completely fucking hopeless.  "You're incorrigible," Henry says with a small laugh. "But he had his turn." His mouth lifts up at the corner, a little crooked, a whole lot endearing. "Now it's mine."

“Does ‘sweetheart’ do it for you? Any others I should know about?” Alex isn’t really all that surprised. Any time the pet name has slipped out in the past, he’s seen Henry’s face do a fun little pinch at the corner of his mouth. He tries to work the term of endearment in as much as possible, because he’s a messy bitch who lives for drama.  Henry clears his throat. “Alexander. I beg of you to not.” Alex forges on, a man on a very important mission. “Honey? Fucking gross, nope. Sugar? That’s what my mother calls me, so hell no.” He clicks his tongue. “Let me noodle on this. Gotta nail you down.” Henry’s flush works its way down from his ears to the base of his neck. A few more and Alex might even get it to go down to his collarbones. How exciting. “Hmm. Bunny? Too cutesy. Boy toy? Well—” “I’m older than you! I’m certainly not your boy toy. If anything, due to not only my age, but also our power dynamic, you’re my boy toy,” Henry huffs.  Alex tries not to feel a certain way about the words you’re my boy toy leaving Henry’s mouth in smooth, rounded vowels. He obviously fails. “I’d say boy toy feels age agnostic, but whatever you say, sweetheart.”

I just posted a fic last night titled cause you're classic, and i'm reckless and here's a snip that makes me giggle and kick my feet every time:

Well. Alex isn't ready to cut the cord just yet. “I could, uh, use some more hands-on learning, if that sounds good to you.” Henry pulls back, eyes hooded. His tone shifts to something a little rougher. “If that sounds—if that sounds good? You have approximately five seconds to get in my lap before I do something drastic.” “You’re insane. What happened to starting slow?” “Alex, do shut up. Three seconds.” Alex scrambles, makes it with a second and a half to spare.

Something curls in his gut, taking a hold of his insides, snaking up around his heart and settling somewhere in his sternum. The pressure of it is almost overwhelming, a tight squeeze. He feels a little breathless for a moment as he takes it all in. Henry, in his city. Henry, in his favorite museum. Henry, taking an interest in the things that matter to him, not because he needs to or because he's going to be quizzed on it by some fucking immigration agent, but because he wants to. He wants to know.  And Alex isn't used to people wanting to know him for him. He's  used to people wanting to know him for his family, his connections, his brain, his body. But this is—this feels like equal footing. An even exchange, for the first time in a long time.

Alex rolls his eyes. “You're gonna have to get used to me touching you, Henry. We're engaged. Our immigration officer is operating under the assumption that I’m literally inside you on a regular basis—” “Excuse me?” “—which means you can't squirm or freeze every time I hold your fucking hand.”   Henry’s jaw ticks. “Can we...erm...can we establish some ground rules?” His face is mildly terrified and paler than usual. Good. He should be. “Ground rules? It's PDA, not the fucking Olympics.” Alex is feeling less optimistic by the second. They’re so fucked.  “Alex, please.” Henry looks pained, and Alex feels only a little bit of pity. It’s not just his job on the line, it’s Henry’s livelihood too. “Fine. Nothing below the belt, hands where everyone can see them, and no tongue.” For now, his brain adds, like the traitorous bitch it is. “But I’m not going to jail on a goddamn felony charge because you can’t handle being a little handsy. We clear?”    Henry nods, face resolute. “Also, why would they assume it’s you inside me, and not the other way around?” Alex stares at him, unflinching. “Do you really want me to answer that question, sweetheart?”

hello :) happy new year! sending everyone good and warm vibes. just wanted to share the first line(s) i wrote in 2024 that also made me laugh. anyone is welcome to share. tag game! :)

“I wonder why I’m even marrying you,” Henry sighs, but his voice is fond. Alex's ears perk up. “Could be the whole sticky deportation thing, or maybe my God-tier to-do lists. But it's probably my ass?” The tips of Henry’s ears go a little pink. It’s a pretty reaction Alex is unfortunately going to latch onto, wanting to elicit it as much as humanly fucking possible. Because it’s funny, okay? It’s fun to embarrass Ice Queen Henry. Any reaction is a good reaction.  Henry coughs. “Yes, well. All of the above, I suppose.” He shakes his head. “Would you like to run through some practice questions? We should probably get our stories straight in the next four and a half hours.” “Hit me.” “I’d rather not. What am I allergic to?” Alex smirks. “Easy. Interesting ties and the full spectrum of human emotion.”  Henry gives him a flat stare. “Very funny. My ties are perfectly fine, thank you. And it was a trick question. I have no allergies.” “Except to color.”

“What fresh hell are you about to subject me to, Alexander?” Henry is looking at the bull in trepidation, eyes a little wide. “This isn’t particularly my wheelhouse, you know.” The idea of buttoned-up, proper, rod-up-his-damn-spine Henry getting thrown around on a bull is making Alex vibrate in anticipation. This is like every wet dream of the last two years come to life. The faint terror in Henry’s eyes does nothing to quell his excitement.   “What, they didn’t teach you this in those fancy polo lessons of yours?” “You absolutely must know they did not.” “I’m sure you’ll figure it out, sweetheart. Up and at ‘em.” He shoves Henry towards it, laughing. Henry takes a deep breath in through his nose, and mutters something inaudible on his exhale. Alex thinks it might be “fuck it” but he can’t tell over the drums of the song blasting over the speakers.  Alex’s laughter cuts off pretty fucking quickly when when he sees Henry walk to the bull with a self-assuredness Alex can only describe as really fucking hot and a man possessed. He’s seen a confident Henry plenty of times at work—he’s sweat profusely through many shirts because of it—but this, this is something new. And then Henry mounts the bull.  And Alex completely bluescreens.

I know I shared a snippet yesterday as my first line of 2024, but here's some more as well. from "the full spectrum of human emotion" the proposal movie au:

Alex laughs. “What a fucking surprise. I bet you have white walls too. Who cooks in the house?” Henry wrinkles his nose. “That’s obvious. You.” “Now why is that obvious? Other than the clear imbalance of seasoning in our relationship.” Henry pauses, his left ear starting to redden yet again. Over the years, Alex has gained the innate ability to read Henry and his tells. His eyes are usually impenetrable, but he can’t control the pink splotches on his cheeks or at the tips of his ears. Henry Fox-Mountchristen has a good handle on almost everything in his life, but he just can’t help the blushing. The warmth in his cheeks contrasts nicely with the ice in his eyes.  “Precisely. No sane person will take a look at us and think that I’m the person spending any time in the kitchen, when all I can contribute is breakfast and the simplest of pastas.” “Really impressive how you’ve managed to give me a compliment and profile me in one go. But you’re right—I’m definitely the one wearing the apron in this relationship.” Alex has many talents, and cooking is right up there, next to calendar management and making Henry flush.

With every touch, every anecdote, every shared moment, Alex gives Henry yet another piece of the Alex Claremont-Diaz mosaic. He can, against his flimsy fucking will, sense little pieces of his heart fastening themselves to Henry, parts of Alex he keeps hidden away from him, from the cold walls of his office in New York City. He remembers telling Henry to give himself away sometimes, to share more, to place more of himself in Alex's outstretched, greedy hands. That's the only way their harebrained scheme can work, after all—equal footing, equal ground. But Alex knows, deep down, that this will never be an equal relationship. Henry is his boss desperately dangling a legally binding carrot, and Alex is his assistant biting said carrot to avoid goddamn jail time. No way in hell this ends in anything but a divorce, a broken heart, a letter of resignation, and a career change.

And selfishly, he’s pretty fucking scared for his career trajectory if it doesn’t work out. He can’t start over, he can’t. His resume can’t take it, and neither can his ego.  He can already hear Oscar clicking his tongue and shaking his head, practically taste the disappointment in Ellen’s pitied gaze and outstretched hand. He absolutely cannot give them the silver bullet that goes clean through his erratic heart and wrenches him back home. He loves Austin, breathes it, and yet…and yet. He just can’t return, not when he’s so close.  He still has so much to prove, so much to hold up to the sky and say I’m here, I can take it, I did it, I’m good enough. It almost swallows him whole—his overwhelming love for his family, his nostalgia for the Texas sun. But it’s just not enough to—

this will be my last snippet for january, as I'll be traveling soon. hope you enjoy. proposal au, "the full spectrum of human emotion" below. unfortunately autobiographical, so apologies for the mild angst:

The announcement fades away in the background as Alex looks out the window, taking in the view of his city. His heartbeat picks up as he thinks about seeing his mom and dad again, used to the grainy pixels of FaceTime and errant text messages on birthdays and holidays. He’s put on quite the front for Henry this whole time, but the thought of being questioned yet again for his career choices makes bile rise up in the back of his throat. He knows it comes from a place of care and love, but sometimes he wonders if he’s the jagged puzzle piece in his family. Leaving his degree behind, leaving his family behind, dragging June and Nora with him in an attempt to keep him sane and well. Forcing his loved ones to fit around his edges and slants, never feeling quite right, always feeling a touch out of place, shoving himself into spots he doesn’t belong in an effort to find himself again.

Alex takes a deep breath and steps into the revolving doors, a pit in his stomach and no pep in his step. Into the belly of the beast he goes.

Alex fucking hates board meetings. He abhors the smarmy assholes that run each division. He loathes the suspect motherfuckers who look at him a little too sideways each time he takes a seat in the back, laptop at the ready to note meeting minutes. He detests the shitheads who swoop in early to take all the good glazed donuts from the box and leave only dry donut holes and unglazed donuts behind, like the heathens they are.  But, he absolutely, unquestionably, wholeheartedly fucking despises Henry Fox-Mountchristen. Because Henry, for all of his ice and stone, is none of the above.

He speed walks over next door to the beautiful glass building standing tall on 42nd and Madison, the crystal clear panels glinting in the morning sun. Emblazoned above the revolving doors is, in clean and modern typeface, House of Okonjo. Alex smiles on instinct every time—Henry might be a hardass, and the hours might be a little egregious sometimes, but he fucking loves working here. He gets to progress towards his dreams of becoming an editor, while working alongside some truly delightful people. Except for Hunter, because fuck Hunter and his WASPy fucking face and lack of any relevant skill set. Goddamn nepo baby.

Like, get down on a knee, profess my love, shiny ring on your finger, big ‘ol kiss, lawfully wedded husband vibes. And then, you want to magically convince the literal fucking government that we are deeply in love with one another, even though you look ready to murder me in cold blood whenever your Earl Grey isn’t a piping hot 95 degrees Celsius—which is unhinged, need I remind you—” “95 degrees is the optimal temperature for brewing Earl Grey.” “Not the fucking point!”
