Rules
All stories must feature a romantic/partnership relationship between two or more characters who are not canonically men. The primary ship should comprise characters from the original seven books. We welcome ace characters, poly ships, and trans or non-binary interpretations of characters, but the intention of this fest is to celebrate wlw pairings, and to encourage the creation of longer, richer stories that these ships don’t often get. If you have a question or concern about this rule, you are welcome to contact the mods, but please respect the intentions of the fest.
The format we are using will be writer sign-ups first, and artist sign-ups later, after writers have completed a 50% check-in and provided a summary of their story. Moderators will be pairing up artists with writers, however if an artist and a writer know they want to work together and would like to sign up as a team, that is fine.
You must be 18+ to sign up as a writer or artist for HP WLW Big Bang. This does not mean your fic/art needs to be E rated, only that artists and authors must be 18 or older to sign up. Hype readers of all ages are welcome, provided they engage only with fics and art rated T or lower.
Yes, we will have Hype Readers again this year! We know that wlw ships tend to get less attention than other ships. In an effort to provide a way for people to participate without writing or making art, and to make sure that our lovely creators get a good response, we are keeping the position of hype reader. If you are interested in being a hype reader, you can sign up at the beginning of June, and pledge to read and comment on at least two stories and corresponding art from the fest.
Schedule and Requirements
For writers: Minimum word count is 25,000 words.
Writer timeline: 7 Feb - 29 Feb: writer sign-ups 30 March: 25% check-in 21 April: 50% check-in and summary due 24 April: writer and artist matches will be sent out by this date 15 May: 80% check-in 31 May: deadline for submitting fic 21 June: posting begins
For artists: Minimum art requirement is 2 pieces of art that are more developed than a sketch.
Artist timeline: 1 April - 14 April: artist sign-ups (based on writers’ 50% check-in and summary) 24 April: writer and artist matches will be sent out by this date 15 May: 50% check in 7 June: deadline for submitting art 21 June: posting begins
Check-ins: The check-in dates listed in the timeline are the date by which you MUST have sent us your work in progress/completed piece. We will send out reminder e-mails a week in advance of the check-in date, and if we have not heard from you by midnight EST on the date of the check-in, we will assume you are dropping the fest. Please note that we are always happy to work with creators to sort out extensions provided creators get in touch to request them BEFORE deadlines have passed. Because this is a matching fest, and the nature of a Big Bang results in the mod workload getting heavier closer to posting, it is imperative that all participants follow the check-in schedule. If we don’t hear from you by a check-in or extension date, especially for final submissions, we will have to make alternate plans, which are very time sensitive — we will not have time to follow-up with you or hound you via e-mail.
Collaboration and communication
Because the purpose of this fest is to create written works that are minimum 25k, accompanied by 2 pieces of art, communication is extremely important. We don’t want any writers or artists to be left in a lurch, without a story or art to go with their creation. Moderators will communicate with participants via e-mail. If we require a response, that will be clearly indicated in the subject header. If you do not reply to one of these emails within two days you will be assumed to be dropping the fest.
Please remember that artist/author matches will be sent out by 24 April. Once you have received your match, you will be expected to get in touch with your collaborator within 2 days. Please also be respectful of your collaborator by responding to their messages in a timely manner.
If you know you’re going to have unreliable internet access etc. at some point during the fest, please let mods and your collaborators know IN ADVANCE so that we can plan accordingly.
A final note: Please communicate with moderators if you encounter any issues, think you will need an extension, are having trouble finding an alpha or beta reader, etc. We want to help support you and make sure you are successful, but we can’t do that if we don’t know what’s going on. You can email us at [email protected]
Postscript: Want to squee with other HP WLW enthusiasts about the fest and our favourite wlw ships of the HP verse in general? Come hang out with us on the discord server.
And thanks again to @banana-ge-ge and @showknight for the fest banners! (Are you digging these bamf Ravenclaws that showknight drew as much as we are?!)
Be sure to follow the fest if you aren’t already for further updates, reminders, and mod-posts!

New Zayn album revealed: Icarus Falls gets release date, new single
NICK ROMANO | November 29, 2018 at 02:00 PM EST
Tumblr media
Zayn is revving up for the release of his sophomore album and new info has come to light, including the project’s title, release date, and new single.
Following Mind of Mine in 2016, the ex-One Direction-er is continuing with Icarus Falls, the title for which popped up on Apple Music this week touting 27 tracks.
In addition to the previously released “Let Me,” “Sour Diesel,” “Entertainer,” “No Candle No Light (feat. Nicki Minaj),” “Fingers,” and “Too Much (feat. Timbaland),” the album features a sample of a new song called “Rainberry.” According to DirectLyrics, which first reported the news of Zayn’s album and EW has confirmed, the single will be released at midnight tonight (Nov. 29).
Listen here.
Zayn’s artist page also includes the date Dec. 14 for the debut of Icarus Falls.
“I’m trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but there’s a plan with the rollout,” Malik said on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show in April (via Fader). “It’s going to be different to, I think, anything anyone has done before, I don’t think has done it this way. So it’s going to be interesting to see how the audience reacts to this kind of release but I wanted to try something different. And I think it’s all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops.”
According to a GQ profile of Zayn, published in June, he also “insists he will tour” the new album.

GIRLS IN THE HOOD OUT NOW EVERYWHERE
A post shared by Hot Girl Meg (@theestallion) on Jun 25, 2020 at 9:08pm PDT
It’s the official first weekend of the summer and the Houston Hottie made sure to give her hotties something to turn up to – even if we are in quarantine. Well, some of us.
After landing at the No. 1 spot on Billboard for her "Savage Remix" with Beyoncé, the Stallion returns to the music scene to kick off summer 2020! The 25-year-old rapper released her new track "Girls in the Hood" at midnight and the hotties are already cutting up. The beat samples Eazy-E’s classic track “Boyz-n-the-Hood" and it's the perfect vibe to turn up with your girls while doing hood rat things.
"Girls In The Hood" is a street-smart ode to the area Megan grew up in and the pride in being a product of her surroundings. A celebration of the lifestyle and energy of her community, "Girls In The Hood" features all the hallmarks of Megan at her finest; playful lyricism, hard hitting delivery, and a self-confident vibe. Using the track to celebrate her culture and her blackness, Megan has created an anthem reminding girls worldwide that just because you’re from the bottom, it doesn’t mean you can’t come out on top and keep it real the whole way.

The Savage x Fenty ambassador (who shouted Rihanna out on the new track) has been nominated for five BET Awards, which include Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year, and Video of the Year. She's also set to perform during the awards show which is set to air live on BET and CBS at 8pm EST.

THE PRODUCT III: STATEOFEMERGENCY OUT NOW ‼️ LINK IN THE BIO
A post shared by Yungin' (@augustalsina) on Jun 25, 2020 at 9:03pm PDT
August Alsina is back! The R&B singer just returned to the music scene with some new music from his new album, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy.
Fans were gifted 27 tracks from the singer with features from Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti, Juicy J and Tink. It's been almost four years since he last dropped an album, so his fans deserve all of the tracks he provided. On the album, he shares the difficulties of his lifetime and tribulations he has dealt with up until now. In anticipation of his album, Alsina spent the week prior to his release dropping a new single daily, giving his fans a taste of what’s to come with “NOLA,” “Rounds,” “Work To Do,” “Sincerely” and “Deliver Us.”
August represents so many touch points within Black America right now: healthcare given his struggle with rare auto-immune disease, socio-economic issues, police brutality, and Black on Black crime -- which is seen throughout the 5-part documentary series and heard within his new album.
You can take a listen below or stream it wherever you get your music:

A post shared by Yungin' (@augustalsina) on Jun 23, 2020 at 4:48pm PDT
The New Orleans native dropped a five-episode docuseries on YouTube titled “stateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsina” — which debuted earlier this week.
“I’ve been working. Been working on myself, my family and my health,” Alsina said. “While on my journey I’ve discovered that life is like one huge puzzle w/ limitless pieces. I’ve been putting the pieces of my puzzle together — with my new music and documentary, stateofEMERGEncy."
You can check out all of the episodes here.

Toni Braxton teamed up with Missy Elliott for a remix of “Do It.”
On the track, Toni pulls inspiration from her own experiences and shares advice for anyone struggling with the decision to end an unhealthy relationship. Well, she's not singing about her own relationship. Back in April, Toni said she and her fiance Birdman are getting married THIS year regardless of the Coronavirus pandemic. They have been engaged since 2018.
Toni & Missy bring a fast-paced tempo to the remix while reiterating the Grammy winner's encouragement to leave a toxic relationship by rapping “let him know I gotta do it, ‘cause he already done and blew it.”
On collaborating with the living legend, Missy stated, “Toni’s team reached out to my manager and asked if I could produce a remix for her next single. They said, ‘Hey if Missy wants to rap on it we would love that too.’ So they sent me the record and my boy Hannon and I, sped the track up to a mid-tempo and re-arranged the music. To be honest, I was scared to send it because anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a huge fan of Toni Braxton! I’ve worked with so many legends. I’ve even worked with Tamar. But I had never worked directly with Toni before. So I thought, what if she hears it and says ‘oh HELL NAH Missy done messed my record up.’ But thank God when she heard it, she loved it and hear we are! Now I can say I finally worked with the living legend—Ms. Toni Braxton.”
“Do It” with Missy Elliott is the latest single from the "Braxton Family Values" star following her multi-Grammy nominated album, Sex & Cigarettes. Take a listen to her newest musical offering above.

Rapper DaBaby just released the video treatment to his hit single “ROCKSTAR” featuring Roddy Ricch. The Reel Goats-directed visual comes as the single continues its chart-topping reign: earning DaBaby his first #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and snagging #1 on Rolling Stone’s Top 100, while approaching #1 at Rhythmic Radio. The song also peaked at #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop, Hot Rap Songs, Streaming Songs charts and in several international markets.
DaBaby is getting it. He also recently released a Black Lives Matter Remix, adding his voice to the conversation surrounding the current hot-button social justice issues. Watch the “ROCKSTAR” video above.

What Time Will Lil Baby & Gunna’s ‘Drip Harder’ Be Released?
Lil Baby and Gunna’s collaborative mixtape Drip Harder is set for release at 9 p.m. Pacific or midnight Eastern depending on your time zone. If that is too late for you to stay awake, you can stream and listen to it at your convenience.
Generally, albums and mixtapes become available around midnight Eastern on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. This has been the case for Lil Baby’s previous releases, 2017’s Harder Than Hard and 2018’s Harder Than Ever, as well as Gunna’s Drip Season mixtapes. On occasion, these platforms will throw a curveball at listeners.
‘Drip Harder’ Comes Out at Midnight Eastern Time
Take Kanye West’s album Yandhi for example. It was originally scheduled for release on Saturday, September 29, but it would up being delayed to November. A similar thing happened with Drake’s double album Scorpion. While it was released at the proper time on Apple Music, the album wasn’t made available until 3 a.m. EST for Spotify users.
Lil Baby and Gunna have been delaying the release of Drip Harder since May, when they first teased its existence on Instagram. On June 25, Gunna posted a photo of him and Baby partying together with the caption: “Can somebody tell @lilbaby_1 I’m ready to drop #DripHarder.” The mixtape was thought to be coming out in June, according to HotNewHipHop, but the month came and went without any sign of new music.
Young Thug Says the Mixtape Will Be ‘Harder’ Than ‘Tha Carter V’
“We all in the same vibe,” Baby told the publication. “All the songs I recorded with Gunna and [Young] Thug, even the songs they got with me, we all recorded them at the same place, same night, same vibe.” It was then reported that Drip Harder was going to be released in September, but again, the month passed without new information.
The anticipation for the mixtape was reignited with Baby hopped on Twitter to address his fans. “Drip Harder This Week !! September Went To Fast !!!,” he wrote. On October 2, Baby posted the mixtape’s official artwork on Instagram with the caption: “10-5-18 Drip Harder! I’m Ready Lol!!” Baby and Gunna have collaborated in the past, with songs including “Money Forever”, “Sold Out Dates”, and “Life Goes On” from the former’s studio debut.
Drake Has Been Confirmed as a Guest Feature
Drake x Lil Baby x Gunna #DripHarder 10/05/18 pic.twitter.com/QkGurGYybZ
— ATLMUSICHUB (@atlmusichub) October 2, 2018
Young Thug, who has been a vocal supporter of both rappers, built up the hype further when he claimed that Drip Harder would be a better listen than Lil Wayne’s recently released Tha Carter V. The eccentric emcee got on Instagram Live to write: “I’m Wayne’s biggest fans but not goin be harder than ‘HARDER’ by @gunna & @lilbaby_1.” It’s unknown whether Thug will be featured on the mixtape.
One artist who’s been confirmed as a feature, however, is Drake. On October 2, a preview of Drizzy’s verse on an upcoming Baby and Gunna track surfaced online, which you can watch above. Genius speculates that the track will be titled “Double” and will be produced by the mixtape’s primary contributor Turbo. Baby and Drake previously worked together on “Yes Indeed,” which peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.
