Last weekend was great -- the perfect mix of being active, social, productive, having fun and relaxing. I went to CrossFit, went to the Illini vs. Penn State game in Champaign (we lost, but it was still a good game and the new State Farm Center looks great), treated myself to my first really nice purse (a black leather Michael Kors bag), ate a burrito, celebrated Liz’s birthday at a barcade with friends, took Science on a hike, and got a bunch of reading, work and cleaning done.

I turned 30 on Monday. It was a normal, mainly uneventful day -- but still nice. I went to work and CrossFit (added 84# to my CrossFit total); my publisher bought me doughnuts; Robbie surprised me with flowers at the office and brought home my favorite enchiladas for dinner; and I had a low-key night on the couch watching TV with the husband and dog.

I was summoned for jury duty on Tuesday. It was my first time, and while I was fascinated by the case, I am relieved that I was ultimately dismissed. Right off the bat, we were told that the case (a civil medical malpractice case resulting in the death of a child) would be a hard one and take at least a couple of weeks. That would have been tough to consider. I think I could have done it, but I felt bad for everyone up there so ugh. Just ugh. 

So far on three separate instances this week, I’ve done three small baby HSPU’s. I’ve also: tied my dead-lift PR (203#) from 9 months ago; haven’t really dead-lifted anything heavy or chased any maxes since then -- so that was cool); was the first one to finish a metcon in my class by at least 1:30 minutes on Wednesday; and PR’ed my 3RM for OHS at 58# (and felt I could go heavier, but was out of time for attempts). Great week at CrossFit!

I bought a FitBit Blaze yesterday and I think the charging device might be defective. I can’t move the screen off the one that directs you to fitbit.com/setup.
