The folks at the FIVARS festival have created an immersive theatre space to view all of the films in this years festival. Here is a link to view the introduction to the festival that featured a couple of clips of my film that I share as screenshots. Honored to be included as part of this extraordinary cutting-edge storytelling festival. https://youtu.be/2DpkVJQHTik Festival director Keram Malicki-Sanchez talks to with developer Jin about the nature of the FIVARS Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories as it enters its 6th year and goes fully online, powered by customized open source code (developed and extended by James Baiconaio and a variety of spatial web designers including Hunter Fox, Ben Cross, Jin, and Malicki-Sanchez) and how it can democratize social interaction in 3D worlds inside the browser. The festival is streaming 4K spherical video with spatialized audio with zero buffer time and no offline content or needs for downloads. Honored to announce that my immersive MFA thesis film, “Walking Past Abandoned Houses, I Think of Eric” featuring Portsmouth, Ohio poet Barbara Costas-Biggs, will make its world premiere October 7th, in Toronto, Canada as an official selection of the 6th Annual FIVARS Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Stories festival. Huffington Post has named this festival “The Most Cutting-Edge Storytelling Festival in the World.” TORONTO — Congratulations! Our jury has carefully selected your entry from over 200 international entrants submitted over the past 12 months to be among the Official Selections at the 2020 - 6th Annual FIVARS Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories The Festival of International Virtual and Augmented Reality Stories focuses on curating the best immersive story-driven content from around the world with the aim of exploring and nurturing this platform for new narrative forms. FIVARS was the first Canadian festival of its kind featuring many world premieres and in our preview screenings and events, audience responses are consistently full of contemplation, surprise, delight, controversy and wonder. The difference is that, unlike modern cinema where you explore these worlds through a window, with Virtual Reality you can now transport into the center of the action, standing inside of the world you wish to explore. Just like real life, if you try to look away from what is in front of you, you will now see what is behind, below, above, to the right or left of you. The real-time response of your head’s movement creates a powerful sense of physical immersion that allows you or your intended audience to connect to the content on a deeper, more visceral level. FIVARS (Festival of International Virtual and Augmented Reality Stories) openly encourages viewers to enjoy and connect to stories in this newly emergent narrative form, while challenging content creators to showcase ideas that defy and transcend the status quo. #fivars2020 #ouscrippsmfa #opioidcrisis #immersiveartexperience #immersivestorytelling #360videoproduction (at Toronto, Ontario, Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/CF5BFKVg38YiCA2QHw0ROUhPace0MwK0bP7X6g0/?igshid=1h7cf288as4y6
