i think telling ppl who are very new to sewing to use minky for a project when they wanna make stuffed animals is kind of evil. and not just because i hate minky although i do but because like. i know that a lot of ppl will say u should start out with something simple like a bag or something and like when you want tomake stuffed animals that sucks. so u look for a beginner plush making pattern and they tell u minky is very forgiving with shape because it can stretch and thats true! minky is very good with the stretch. however. the stretch makes it god awful to pin AND sew because the needle has tobe as sharp as possible to not get caught on the threads and the fabric WILL SHIFT no matter how many fucking pins you put in it. and its just going to make them frustrated and feel like theyre bad at sewing. BUT THEYRE NOT. MINKY IS JUST THE DEVILS FABRIC
#gekkering#txt#im thinking about a few weeks ago i was teaching whitefang howtouse my sewing machine and the pattern we used was literally like two pieces#front and back and theysaid to use minky forit because itll come out a lot rounder looking even if youre a little wobbly and we had tolike#fully pick all the stitches we had done because we did a normal amount of clips to keep the pieces together with no funny business no darts#literally a mirror image on topof itsself#and it stillshiftedso fucking badit made me SO MAD#if youve usedminky for one ofyour first sewing projects and got mad orfeltlikeyou just werent good at it please try again with like a norma#cotton or fleece or flannel#theyre not furry i know but it willbe so much easier
