Like Ghosts - Digital Edition

In the pre-digital age the paper negatives that came with peel-apart instant film used to be nothing but trash. While being necessary for processing the image, their opaque flipside made it impossible to put them in an enlarger like a regular film negative. What was left after glancing at the modern miracle of instant film were thin white sheets of paper with no further use. Like ghosts they are of fragile nature, sensitive to light and their lifespan is limited since oxydation of leftover chemicals will destroy the paper over time.

The printed edition was published in 2014 and is sold out. This is a digital re-release.

So lovely to have my daughter back home for lots of reasons, one of which is I have a new model to photograph. As predominantly a portrait photographer this Lockdown is difficult. This portrait was taken in one of my favourite cameras, the Polaroid 600SE or The Goose. The film is hard to get these days and is very expensive so every shot counts. This is shot 5 from this pack. 🚗💨 zoomzoom Day 274 of 365 October 1, 2017 Fujifilm FP-3000b Polaroid Land Camera 250 . . This weekend went by way too fast. I was overwhelmed by how many people I got to meet and chat instant film with. I'm always a little intimidated when I talk with people who seem to know way more about things than I do but the openness and genuine desire to share and teach others seems to drive these meets and I am always beyond grateful to everyone that takes those extra moments to explain or show something to me. Post SXSW 2017 Tats and Tacos party with Margo and the boys, courtesy of the legendary hand poke artists (YES...traditional tattoos by hand, no machines. Ben and Katie pictured at the bottom and on the sides) at Black Spot Tattoo Company. Such a great time that I couldnt help but take these fujiroids to document the ink we all got together.
