Please read x 💯❗️❗️❗️ Posted @withregram • @coach_brettb It’s easy to get frustrated when our point doesn’t get across to others the way we want, or when something we say is taken out of context. But when you look more closely at how easy it becomes to miscommunicate it starts to make a bit more sense. It’s one thing to have a clear thought, it’s another to have a clear message, and yet another still for that message to be received by the other person the way it was intended. You can literally speak the exact same language as someone and still have a “translation” issue occur. This is due, in part, to the inherent “messiness” of the communication process. It’s also due to the fickle nature of perception- the way we encode and interpret our sensory experiences. So think about this image the next time you get frustrated that a communication breakdown has occurred. Print it off, put it in your office and try to identify where along the chain you may have gone wrong. After all, communication is a skill- but even if YOU believe you’re excellent at it, you still have obstacles to overcome if those you’re speaking to are not as skilled.
