ff7′s timeline is a mess.

-Genesis was apparently born in 1982 and was 25 in the year 2000 when Crisis Core happened. 2000 - 25 = 1975, in case anyone was wondering.

-Not that he could’ve been born in 1975 either, as Gast found Jenova in 1977

-Apparently Vincent Valentine was shot by Hojo in 1984 which means Sephiroth was born in 1984, making him the same age as Zack (even though he’s supposed to be 20-23 at the time of CC and Zack 18) and,

-The Wutai War started in 1992, making Sephiroth 8 years old when they sent him off to war. Which is much worse than the usual ‘12′.

-Although they would’ve been hard-pressed to create Sephiroth in 1984 as the timeline also says that Gast fled Shinra in 1980.

-Even if he came back to supervise, the timeline also states that Gast was shot in 1985, meaning apparently Sephiroth can remember things from when he was 1 (I guess plausible due to alien heritage?)

-Lastly, Lucretia's pregnancy was noted as ‘circa 1977-1982′ so if Vincent was killed in 1984 that means she was pregnant for 2 years

So either Genesis was created before they found Jenova or Sephiroth can remember things at 1 year old and Shinra is... well, I guess an 8-year old child soldier is just as much of a child soldier as a 12 year old one so it’s the same war crime. Or Shinra’s lying about something in-universe. Or I disregard everything and set the timeline using the set points of Cloud Strife’s Birthday and Age During FFVII and extrapolate from there.

(if we use Cloud Strife’s Birthday on August 1986 we realize that he would’ve been 14 years old during Crisis Core, which is impossible since he was 21 in FFVII and FFVII is 5 years after the Nibelheim incident. 21-5 = 16)

tl;dr: Crisis Core fucking did not take place in the year 2000
