Joaquin let out a short, humourless laugh, shaking his head as he tossed back the shot. "Right. A witch from Oz," he repeated, eyes cutting back to her with a wary edge. "Right. And I'm the damn Tooth Fairy." He turned his body towards her, arms crossed tight over his chest, eyes narrowing. "You expect me to believe that? That you're a witch from Oz?" He let out a short incredulous laugh. "You sound insane." But the way she said it, calm, certain, like it was just another Tuesday. She believed it. That's what got under his skin. "You're serious," he said, voice lower now, more cautious. "You actually believe that." He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling slow. "This town just keeps getting weirder."

she hummed gently, nodding. "yeah, i know i'm not. i would know who i was, i've only been myself for my entire life," she said, sipping at her drink. "i'm not a ghost. i'm a witch." she'd been used to this town for years now - she used to pretend she was just a normal woman, but as she grew more comfortable with the fact that there were other beings that weren't just human, she stopped being so scared to tell people she was a witch. "not originally. i'm from oz, but i've been here for... well, about 6 years now." @sweetsidejoa

diana groaned, resting her head in her hands. she had admittedly had far too much to drink, thinking it might make her feel better. she thought it had worked at first but now? the hangover she was fighting was so not worth it. she groaned and winced as she heard someone’s voice. “shhhh.” she held a finger up to the other. “don’t be so loud. use a… quieter voice. please.” diana muttered before peeking up at the other with a groan. “what do you want? am i in your way? can’t you just like… walk around me or something? i’m not that big. i’m tiiiiny.” she muttered.

"Thank you for letting me do your hair," Taylor mused. She had felt awful when that drunk man had thrown a drink into the beautiful woman's hair. It was a good thing that the blonde had brought a hairbrush and makeup in her car. "I knew he was drunk, but not that bad. I mean it could be a good meet cute if he had said anything at all."

"Oh — is that Ga-linda, with a Guh ?"

He took a moment to glance at her wand, wondering what meaning it held for her and if it was a music theatre thing, or ' live action role playing ' he'd been hearing of lately. His curiosity held no judgement, only trying to paint a better picture of London, trying to understand the rhythm of the people who lived here — whether grown up here or transplanted like he had.

she smiled, shaking his hand politely. peoples reactions were kind of hit or miss when they got bumped into. some were down right rude, others were sympathetic. "it's nice to meet you. i'm galinda." @monumented

"not for nothing, but you seem like one of those people that would have to try hard to look ridiculous." brigitte let out a little snort of laughter and flicked her hair out of her face before she looked down at her camera and pulled the pictures up. galinda gave her a smile. "oh no, that's perfectly fine. but if i look ridiculous, pretty me up a little in editing," she said. she did appreciate the other asking permission. it was a rare courtesy that people had these days.

Noah can’t remember whether or not he’d always been easily distracted or if it was a side effect of being dead, but either way there are things in the world that call to him more than others; people with spiky hair, glitter, and apparently pink bubbles. 

This pink bubble that caught his attention is not only in the center of town, but there’s a person in it. Noah glances around, waiting for someone to take notice but the people in this town rarely react to anything strange.

He takes cautious steps towards it and stops when he’s within few inches from her. His eyes are wide with wonder as he reaches out to touch the bubble, smiling at the woman inside it.

"don't you just love antiques?" sally mused with a grin, peering inside the window of an antique store. "old things... make me sad. but in a good way, you know? makes me think of what they've been through. how many families have cared for them. whether they were looked after or just tossed aside." she clicked her tongue before turning to look at the other. "what do you think? you have an interest in stuff like this or is your taste more... modern?" sally questioned with a small smile.

"Yeah, I don't have the patience for books with slow starts," Daniel replied. He was about to continue, when she used the two most psychedelic words he'd ever heard, which was saying a lot, considering he'd spent a heck of a lot of time hanging out with junkies. Daniel stared at her. "... Lady, did you just say supposify?" he repeated, laughing slightly. "Right on. Sure, I supposify it isn't. It wasn't mine." He smiled at her, suddenly way more interested. "Yeah? Did you ever see Carrie? That shit was wild."

"i've read the book, seen the movie, love them both. there's a lot of people that don't like it though. some say it's too slow to start, others say there's no important lessons being learned... which is how i know they didn't even attempticate reading the book. just not everyone's cup of tea, i supposify," she said. "i don't know if i know any of them. i don't think i've read any horror books. seen plenty of horror movies though." @vampireinterviews

"Your voice is beautiful. Are you a singer?" Ricky mused. As he listened to the girl humming to herself. He surprised even himself by speaking, but it wasn't the first time. A light blush dancing across his features. She was beautiful and looked the kind of kind that made you linger while holding the stance of a leader. "I only say that because I am one."

Sirius was closing up shop for the day, about to head to the White Rabbit for a drink. He was really settling into this town and beginning to enjoy it. Hearing footsteps behind him, he turned around to see who it was.

“Hi, I’m sorry, the shop’s closed. We’ll be open again tomorrow at 10 a.m. though!”

yes welcome back to my OZtalk, continuing the analysis of the call and response choreography in Wicked (2024) let's get into something more wholesome and fun!!

how about a whole song about Galinda teaching Elphie how to be more like her?? complete with her literally teaching Elphie the choreography of her life!! Galindafication🫧💕

and certainly not a song about an outsider literally being taught the steps to living a life within a system of oppression. certainly not a song about someone trying to tame a radicalist with more palatable ideas and expressions. (not blaming galinda for that at ALL btw it's simply all she knows and she's GOOD at working within that. anyways. look! makeover scene! so cute!

and her success gives her some measure of confidence. Elphaba is brought out of her shell and shown that she's allowed to be a person, allowed to WANT things. so the next time she reaches out a hand, it's not a desperate plea for ANYTHING. it's for something she really wants...

and Fiyero... he runs from her.....

sooooooo.... as much as I LOVE "one short day" there's not a Ton of relevant choreo to my point in this particular scene. and to be quite frank, this is the part of my analysis that breaks from dependence on the choreography anyways. so... MOVING ON

because their choreography IS beautifully indicative of their characters. because Glinda is the type of person that, as I said, finds her place of control WITHIN the influence. we've already been shown that. this is why when Elphie asks this question...

... weeee already know the answer.

they're just two best friends. but they're not the same person. they don't work the same way. for the SECOND time in this movie, Elphie reaches out her hand for something she wants: Glinda. and for the SECOND time, she doesn't get it.

so here comes the third (and final) time in this movie that Elphie needs help. the next time she reaches out a hand, who does she find?

because Elphaba plays the outsider's game. she's different, she's radicalized, she's alone. But this time, it's not hopeless. it's determined. she embraces HERSELF on the path forward. she is in control of HERSELF now. Elphie is the only one with influence on Elphie now.

and NOBODY is gonna bring her down.

nobody asked for this post BUT has anybody talked about the beautiful metaphor of all the call and response choreography in the Wicked movie??? how the dancing shows the influence that characters have over each other. cuz im about to.

okay okay look at this. everybody at shiz copies Galinda during "what is this feeling"

okay standard expected yeah but THEN we get to "dancing through life" (AKA everybody's horny for Jonathan Bailey) and Fiyero has to "corrupt his fellow classmates"

WATCH them follow along! watch them LEARN the dance as his influence spreads over them. BUT not just them! because for the first time in her life, Galinda is NOT the center of attention. she's nor in command of the crowd and she JOINS IT. SHE JOINS THE CROWD.

now of course she eventually finds her way to the center, she finds a place of influence in the dance because that's who she is. When Glinda isn't in control, she joins the influence to take control of it.

but you know who isn't dancing? you know who's the one person refusing that call? of course you do you watched the movie too.

and yes. I know, those of us that are familiar with musical theater probably already saw all of this. but shhhh this is fun to talk about anyways. AND we're getting to the fun part. that's right... it's the

🧊🐟✨️ozdust ballroom✨️🐠🧊

now THIS is what's special about the call and response aspect of the choreography. THIS is the part that makes all of us cry whether or not we consciously realize it.

because whereas Glinda is able to FIND her place of control in the influence, Elphaba doesn't have that ability. she's NEVER had that. she can't join a crowd because she's different and she sticks out no matter what.

Elphaba has to do her own thing. She always has to go it alone. that's why this dance is so strange and so beautiful!! because it's so uniquely her! and THATS why the call and response motif of the choreography makes this moment so sad. because it's not just Elphie not caring what anyone thinks.

it's a desperate call for anyone, ANYONE to respond to her.

And Galinda sees her. FINALLY, a response. finally, Elphaba has broken through that wall. for the first time in her life, she's reached out a hand, and someone else took it.

and i just think that's beautiful. 🥺

i definitely have more to say about this but for now I will end it here anyways thanks for coming to my OZTEDtalk.

Laurie loved her job. She did. 

However what she did not love is the all day events they made her do, without switching out the dogs. They knew it was just to get the little pups adopted for the holiday season, but some of them had anxiety. And their anxiety became Laurie’s anxiety. 

The event at the Community Center was the perfect time to adopt one, but not for the Blue Heeler at Laurie’s feet. The booth was too stifling for the both of him. She tugged on the leash, gently, looking for someone she knew. Oh, Galinda. They’d met once before, she should work. 

“Hi, weird question but can we come over by you for a minute? I’m trying to help him get adopted but the kids keep yanking on his fur and making him nervous. We just need to be with someone patient for a little bit.”
