I’ve got two potential titles/premises that come to mind! feel free to pick one and run with it! Some slight NSFW or at least mildly suggestive content under the cut

it’s all an illusion (I’m wearing makeup)

title is from Art is Dead by Bo Burnham, which has strong Kenny vibes in general. The song doesn’t work here but the title is perfect. For some background, in this ‘verse Kenny is aware of his nebulous relationship with gender and how that translates into his sexuality, and he and Kota have experimented with it before.

As the title implies, Kenny tries out makeup. Courtesy of Nyla Rose, because I love her and I think they would have a wonderful friendship in kayfabe. (I’m pretty sure they’re good friends outside of their characters too, but I can’t remember right now).

It’s not a full face of makeup. Nyla agrees that foundation often feels like it’s melting off under the stage lights Just some eye makeup for a singles match and some sheer shimmery lipgloss to enhance his dramatic pay per view entrance.

Kenny doesn’t expect to feel so good about it, the smokiness of the smudged kohl eyeliner and the curled lashes, the subtle sparkle of the gloss and gold eyeshadow. Even the little braids scattered throughout the hair gathered into a ponytail (a throwback to an old wrestle kingdom entrance,) make him feel warm. He feels pretty, and it feels wonderful.

He gets backstage, exhausted from the match, and Kota embraces him, tugging him into a kiss that Kenny gratefully accepts.

“You look beautiful.” He says as he pulls away, lips shimmering from the transfer, hands still woven into Kenny’s hair. “Prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.”

And Kenny shimmers too.

title is from ivy by taylor swift, which has nothing to do with this concept but it worked wonderfully as a title!

I think this would be the fic where Kenny explores his gender, and I think that would prompt Kota to reflect on himself as well. I think it would be some really sweet and fluffy self-discovery and learning more about the other. I think they’d each come to the conclusion that it doesn’t really matter to them where they identify on the wildly broad spectrum that is gender, and it’s nobody else’s goddamn business. They are themselves first and foremost and they love each other for that. They aren’t the type to put themselves in boxes, it’s what they’ve been fighting all their lives.

I saw a person earlier and I couldn't tell at a glance whether they were a boy or a girl or what but they were really attractive so I just said "gender" and it hit me all at once in that moment that like

I meant that as androgynous. I meant that as I can't tell what gender they are, but what they're wearing is very clearly an expression of something genderish, and it's very aesthetically pleasing.

I was calling them androgynous by using gender itself as an adjective. Like, there's certainly a fuckin gender involved here! I can't make heads or tails of it, but it's there! And it kicks fucking ass! Isn't that funny? I couldn't tell if they were a girl with short hair wearing something boyish or a pretty boy twink with killer fashion sense, or some bizarre mix in the NB region.

But they looked like they probably fucking ruled.

And also they waved me along past the crosswalk rather than making me wait for them to cross, which is cool
