So excited to dig into my yard and flower bed today. I have 2 peonie shoots coming up, salvaged a columbine that was growing in a precarious spot at a seller's house last year (had permission to take) and super excited that my Grandmother's day lillies that I transplanted from my Mom's house in Georgia are coming along! Hooray! But it is such a scorcher, I almost broke a sweat😂. Moving almost 3 years ago from our 200 year old farm House was a relief in lots of ways. But I really miss my garden. I planted 1000s of bulbs and perennials over 8 years and transformed the yard. I am super proud of The legacy I left the new owners. * * Living in the country on the edge of the woods means a different approach to gardening these days. We are overrun by deer who eat EVERYTHING. So either we fence it in with 4 foot high hog wire (like chicken wire on steroids - or not if you are organic); you accept that 90% of the things you want to plant are essentially 🦌 salad bar; and human hair, dog hair, Irish spring soap chips, cayenne pepper powder, and every other ‘natural’ or ‘safe’ deer repellent do Not work.
