Jamaican Farmers who supply produce mainly to the tourism sector are now without markets. #Olympian Ricardo Chambers, who transitioned from the track to farming back in 2016, is one such farmer who has taken a hit after huge financial losses due to the lack of a market and sales of his crop. Chambers, who competed for Jamaica at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, now operates a #hydrofarm in #Manchester. He said he has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars on over 10 beds of high-value crops including parsley, mixed lettuce, and strawberries. Do you agree with this decision? Reposted from @jamaicagleaner #jamaicagleaner ・・・ The Tokyo Olympics have been officially postponed until 2021. The International Olympic Committee along with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and local organisers have decided that the Tokyo Games cannot go ahead as scheduled this year because of the coronavirus outbreak. CONGRATULATIONS @chrisgayle333‼️🇯🇲🔥 #legend #GOAT ・・・ Jamaica Cricket Association (#JCA) CEO Courtney Francis hailed firebrand Windies batsman @chrisgayle333 as a legendary figure in international cricket, likening his status to that of Trinidad and Tobago’s record-setting, Hall of Fame batting great Brian Lara. Gayle, who came into the second one-day international (#ODI) of the three-match series against India at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on 10,396 runs – nine off Lara’s total, surpassed the Trinidadian’s tally of 10,405 after he posted 11 runs from 24 balls to lift his overall tally to 10,408. The Jamaican, in the process, became the West Indian with the most runs in one-day internationals. Visit the link in @jamaicagleaner Stories to read more. @realshellyannfp Fraser-Pryce is the new Pan American Games women’s 200m record holder. She shattered the previous record of 22.45 seconds, held by American Evelyn Ashford for 40 years, with her time of 22.43 seconds in the final, which took place at the Videna Sports Village this afternoon. Fraser-Pryce, her own toughest critic, had said she did not think her semi-final run yesterday was very smooth, but described today’s run as “just okay.” Visit the link in @jamaicagleaner stories to read more.
