I finally maxed out a second copy of Secret God of the Sky-- I got three cards in 92 rematches which felt rly lucky ^_^

Catching up on the lost word event and the story is unexpectedly emotional. I guess that comes from Sai no Kawara being the topic though. I am enjoying the storytelling a lot, I really like all these characters both in canon and in LW. Also I support Eika throwing rocks at people

GOD I forget how good the soundtrack for double dealing character is. Like every song is so good!! The game's recurring leitmotifs are catchy and give the game a unique character (lol). The title theme is particularly is quite unique!! Also ZUN really leans into rock guitar which gives the game a high energy.

Here's my 1am thoughts on Touhou Wily Beast and Weakest Creature, following an impulse purchase and two playthroughs ^_^ (spoilers ahead!!)

First of all, I'm in love with the story. Both of my runs were a multi-continue clear with eagle spirit Reimu, so I don't know everything yet. But I always enjoy learning more about Touhou's interpretations of hell and the afterlife, and they're very interesting here. I would have loved to see Komachi and Eiki given the setting, but I love seeing new characters and expanding the cast of hell.

The music and characters are great. Eika is super cute and I love her theme. The music in this game is amazing in general and I think each theme fits its character/setting very well.

As for stage 5, I'm not sure what I expected an animal realm in Touhou to be, but I definitely didn't expect... skyscrapers?? In hindsight it makes sense given urban landscapes in other locations such as Makai (I think, given Byakuren's theme and everything), but it's such a different vibe from the rural feel of Gensokyo. Keiki's electronic garden was also a surprise; I assumed she'd be associated with nature more given that she is a sculptor (and clay comes from the earth) but I think the association between electronics, Keiki, and the 'man-made' is interesting. There's a blurry distinction between what is natural and artificial anyway.

All in all, I'm excited to play more of this game. I've barely mentioned gameplay, but I really like the animal spirit mechanic; it's like a combo of UFO and Ten Desires' resource systems which is neat.
