The desert road in Golmud, Qinghai Province, known online as the "Long Highway," offers the perfect backdrop for photographers seeking a dramatic desert shoot. Due to its unique geographical features, the road appears to climb at a steep angle when captured from a particular perspective, creating a visually striking image.

To put the sheer size of the 8 GW solar farm in perspective, the three largest solar farms in the world by capacity are China’s Ningxia Tenggeli and Golmud Wutumeiren solar farms, with a capacity of 3 MW each, and a 3.5-GW solar farm outside Urumqi, Xinjiang’s capital.
In addition to the massive solar farm, the $10.99 billion project will also consist of 4 GW of wind, 5 GWh of energy storage capacity, 200 MW of solar thermal, and [...] 4 GW of coal-fired power. It will be sited in Ordos, in northern China’s Inner Mongolia region, the Shanghai-listed company said in a stock filing.[...]
The project will break ground in September and is expected to come online by June 2027.

NPSS Weibo Q&A (20240831) Part 4
This is a Q&A session held on Weibo. People will tag their questions with the hashtag #南派三叔藏海花在线答疑# (#NPSS Zang Hai Hua Online Q&A#) and NPSS will look through the tag to pick some to answer. The event started at 1500 hours on 2024 August 31st.
Folder with screenshots and big compilation google doc is here. Part 1 is here. Part 2 is here. Part 3 is here.
1608
Q: Man crush, honestly, do you think that West Lake Vinegar Fish is delicious? Can you finish a plate of Vinegar Fish from Louwailou by yourself?
A: Actually, I really can’t. At most, I can eat two bites. But I’ve heard that they’ve improved their recipe lately and now it’s very delicious.
1609
Q: Shu, how long do you spend online from day to night? Your mental state is great. (T/N: “great” as in “wow what a mental state!”) A: I actually have too many things to write but well, I’m a liuliang celebrity, aren’t I?
1609
Q: The unbeatable, most handsome man crush in the universe, may I ask if Wu Xie would get caught by Xiaoge and Pangzi for sneakily buying game currency in LOL so he can buy skins? A: You can’t skimp on skins no matter how poor you are. Everyone understands this.
1611
Q: Sanshu, you have written about so many places in China, have you considered letting the Iron Triangle go tomb robbing overseas? A: I’ve written a movie script previously. The three of them were kidnapped and brought inside a pyramid. I was prepared to direct it myself but there was an Ebola outbreak right when the filming site in West Sahara finished construction.
1611
Q: I’ll post this again. Lei, can you invite the original singer to perform Three Days of Silence next year? People go to the bathroom three times (T/N: this is the proverb meaning to visit a place persistently until you get the result you want), why don't you go to the bathroom three hundred times. After all, there’s still more than 300 days till the next 817.
A: I visit once per day? Won’t it make me look like a loan shark?
1613
Q: When will this Q&A end?
A: It won’t end. I will answer at any time.
1613
Q: Shu, you’ve previously said that you’ll slowly delete the drafts on your public account. Can you not delete them? I really like to read the drafts over and over again.
A: There isn’t enough space. There’s too many [drafts]. Even if I don’t delete them, you can’t find them either.
1615
Q: If Zhang Qiling could only say one sentence to Wu Xie in this lifetime, what would he say?
A: I can only say one sentence to you in this lifetime, go get paper and pencil, I’m going to start saying this sentence and try my best to not stop and tell you everything that I can say, don’t interrupt me, let’s see how long I can make this sentence, now listen up, Wu Xie, my plan is goes like this bla bla bla bla bla—
1616
Q: Do you think that you can write better than you have previously? Or has that best feeling stage passed? A: I can go back [to that state], but I will go insane. Once I go insane, I will hurt everyone, including you all.
1618
Q: Shu, I think you wrote the best when you were in the psychiatry hospital. Can you trouble yourself and fulfill us and go there again? A: Here comes the crazy guy.
1620
Q: I’m praying for Shu to get Tianshou today and update nonstop.
A: Once the Tianshou ends, there’s a great probability that I will go to Liuheta (T/N: a culture park in Hangzhou, West Lake area) and run around naked.
1623
Q: What were the first impressions Zhang Qiling and Wu Xie had of each other?
A: Wu: Wah, it’s a show off. Zhang: Looks like there’s a layman on the team.
1624
Q: Man crush, if you were to choose a birthplace in DMBJ, would you choose the Golmud Sanatorium or the Bronze Gate?
A: Are these birth places? What is my mom thinking?
1629
Q: Which one do you like more; going to work or going to jail? Can you write while you’re in jail or write while you’re at work?
A: What’s the difference?
1631
Q: Shu, what do you think ZHH means to you?
A: I was suffering a lot when I wrote ZHH. It was before my mental breakdown. I went crazy after finishing it.
60 questions in! /laid flat on the ground. Only 60 questions in... and the list keeps getting longer. On one hand, I kinda regret spacing these out so much but on the other hand... I need something to fill my days between the ZHH updates. Maybe I'll do double updates tomorrow! Who Knows!

Extremely self-indulgent plotbunny/bulletpoint-fic incoming!
(So I don't know if the whole 'paralell universes sometimes touch and people fall through' thing is canon in the books too, or if it's a drama-only concept, but I'm gonna run with it here.)
So. For whatever reason the Iron Triangle has to go back to Golmud to check out this or that or whatever.
After a short while they realise that something is off - the whole atmosphere feels strange, and they are definitely not alone.
When they finally get a glimpse at the mystery person it turns out it's either a human or a ghost - they're flighty, more bent on hiding from them than attacking, and just generally moves with purpose and with much better coordination than a zombie. They also appear unarmed, wearing nothing but some flimsy pyjamas.
When the Triangle finally manage to corner them - him, it seems - it turns out to be a thin young man, covered in fresh surgery scars and other clear signs of medical abuse. The real shock comes when they finally catch a glimpse at his face - it's Xiaoge.
Of course everyone's first thought is a face mask, but nope, the face is definitely his own. Also he has no memories whatsoever of his life before the asylum - exactly in the state as the Triangle's own Xiaoge must have been at Golmud.
...Well, now they really can't just leave him here. Even if this was a complete stranger they couldn't leave him in the state he is. Convincing him to come with them is surprisingly easy, though all of them suspect - well, Xiaoge 1,0 knows for sure - that his compliance at this point is just resignation, not trust.
That won't stand, of course. They bring Xiaoge 2,0 home, and this is where Xiaoge 1,0's tendency to put everyone in before himself circles back into selfcare, as he deploys all the tips and tricks and reassurances Wu Xie and Pangzi used to care for him over the years and uses them to help this other version of himself back on his feet.

“Inflicting pain is easy.  Protecting someone from it... that's another story.”
-- Shades (Hei Xiazi/Hei Yanjing) from Time Raiders (the game)
...every now and then, this game drops a gem that leaves me fucking BLEEDING.
Because this really is Hei Xiazi to a tee.
And of course, my brain automatically drifts to Heiping here.  Xiazi and Xiaoge have known each other for SO LONG.  Decades, a century, possibly longer.  So Xiazi has been there, forced to bear witness to so much of the pain that Xiaoge has suffered over the course of their long lives and only very rarely has he been able to do anything about it.  Memory loss.  Betrayal.  Golmud.  Banai and the damned BASKET.  Chen Pi Ah Si.  The Bronze Gate.  And that has to eat Xiazi alive.
Because Xiazi may talk a good game about only being in it for the money, but he’s so obviously NOT.  He cares so much about everyone, and he does everything that he can to keep people safe, to put himself in harm’s way rather than let someone else be hurt.  We see it with Xiaoge.  We see it with Wu Xie.  We see it with Xiao Hua.  We see it with Chu Chu.  We see it with the ducklings towards the end of TLTR.  We see it EVERYWHERE.
We’re on to you, Xiazi.  We know this is your driving motivation.  We know that you’re the biggest big brother/uncle/papa figure out there and that you just want to wrap your arms around people and protect them.  You just don’t want anyone to KNOW THAT.
And that’s why I love him.  ^_^
Anyway.  I hope you enjoyed this episode in “today this silly little game breaks my heart AGAIN.”  We now return you to your regularly scheduled browsing.  ^_^

2, 3, 16, 28, & 29 for ao3 wrapped? ^_^
Thanks for asking <3
2. How many works did you publish this year?
Apparently 42 fics! Largely DMBJ, to the surprise of no one.
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
THIS IS SUCH A HARD QUESTION. ...the one that's not finished yet! But, uh. Let's think. I'm very proud of Exploration because it's not my usual type of fic, I think? IT HAD A FIGHT SCENE. But also if we give a person a heart because I think it's got really pretty imagery in it.
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Have the first five XD
Established Relationship (19)
Angst (13)
Hurt/Comfort (11)
Zhang Qiling Needs a Hug (11)
Hurt Zhang Qiling (11)
I have no idea what could possibly have happened there!
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
THIS IS ALSO VERY HARD?? I like most fics I write. Caring for Your Zhang Qiling: A Practical Guide is the definition of self-indulging though. Reprise was also a lot of fun. ...I guess A-Kun fics is the answer XD
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
THIS ONE IS THE HARDEST. But I think it's this piece of Xiaoge angst from if we give a person a heart:
He’s intimately familiar with being broken. Sometimes he thinks he’s never been anything else. (Those are the good days. On the bad days, he wonders, over and over: does he really exist at all? Ghosts can leave a tangible proof in the world, after all.) Maybe he’s still behind the Gate. Maybe he’s still in the jade meteorite. Maybe he’s still in a woven basket. Maybe he’s still in Golmud. Maybe he’s still staring at a piece of rock, unable to sculpt anything out of it, unable to feel, inhuman. Maybe he only exists in Wu Xie’s imagination. Pain is grounding, isn’t it? Blood makes everything real.
(It's this meme, if anyone else is interested^^)

Your Experiences on the Train To Tibet
Traveling to Tibet by train has grown in popularity since the Qinghai-Tibet railway opened for business in 2006. Millions of travelers chose the Train To Tibet over other travel options to Tibet because of the stunning scenery of the world's highest plateau, the Tibet Plateau, as well as the railway's status as a work of human architecture.
Tumblr media
It's a distinctive way to see the tallest railway line in the world.
The train that travels to Tibet tracks the world's highest railway route, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The world's highest plateau, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, provided the building site for the Tibet railway, which was constructed in 2006 amid very difficult environmental circumstances. It is unquestionably a marvel in human construction history.
A wide highland territory with an average elevation of 4,300 meters above sea level and a maximum elevation of 5,068 meters is expanded by the 1,956-kilometer train route. Taking a train to Tibet and exploring the world's highest railway is an adventure of a lifetime.
What to expect when traveling to Tibet by train?
Tibet Train Travel is specifically built to satisfy the demands of tourists and to ensure that there is adequate oxygen supply to the carriages, ensuring a safe travel experience on the plateau railroad.
Onboard Oxygen Supply System
The first train equipped with an oxygen delivery system on board is the Tibet train. Warm, oxygen-rich air is vented into every automobile. To guarantee that people in need have access to enough oxygen, separate oxygen inhalers are adequate.
Tibet trains' oxygen delivery system kicks in after reaching Golmud, which is located 2,809 meters above sea level. Despite passing along the Qinghai-Tibet railway at an average elevation of more than 4,000 meters, travelers are safe because oxygen is provided.
Both hard and soft sleepers
There are hard-sleeping cabins and soft-sleeper cabins on every Train To Tibet China. Each of the four sleepers in the soft sleeper cabins has a sliding lockable door that can be closed to create a separate cabin area. The hard sleeping rooms include six beds per compartment with non-closable doors.

it’s fascinating how a thin layer of canon separation from “real” events makes horrors so much more bearable. ah yes xg was told out to the wang and imprisoned in golmud, that sucks but it’s an interesting narrative choice. but the instant you think about a real world version of that (xg’s family institutionalising him because they can’t control him) i get VIOLENTLY ill.

Departure for Kabul (The Maiden of  Lôgar chapter 3)
Tumblr media
Liang's journey from Chongqing to Kabul was as daunting as he had anticipated. Leaving Chongqing at dawn, he reached the bustling Caiyuanba railway station. The frenetic atmosphere of the passengers and the incessant ballet of the trains added an extra touch of madness to the already hectic atmosphere of the city. His regional train was already there, ready to head west.
In the carriage, Liang was greeted by bright blue seats decorated with traditional Chinese motifs. The delicate smells of shrimp noodles and spicy chicken wafted through the air, emanating from the meal trays as much as from the passengers' provisions. Liang sat down with a retired couple who warmly recounted their life stories, sharing steaming noodles with him.
The train began its journey through the green mountains of Sichuan. Stops at picturesque stations, where street vendors offered local specialties, punctuated the journey. At the Mianyang stop, he met up with a colleague, a courier like himself, who was off on the road. Over the years of leaving China by train, Liang had come to know a host of regular travelers like himself. There were commercial travelers, merchants, peasants, civil servants, all kinds of people whose profession forced them to travel far from home. Liang was the champion of the corporation: he really did go all over the world. That's why he was always looked upon with great respect. Travelers knew that with him, they would hear wonderful or frightening tales. It was always a pleasure for Liang to share a cigarette with his comrades on the road, to follow them as far as possible, sometimes even beyond China's borders. Wherever a compatriot was, it was still China.
After a night's journey, the train reached Xining. Liang was already on the Tibetan plateau. He would have gladly stopped off to sleep in a hotel or stroll the streets of Xining. But Cao had no sense of humor.
Setting off again by train, Liang, completely exhausted by the journey, finally reached Tibetan territory two days later. The grandiose landscapes of the high plateaus, dotted with peaceful yaks and prayer flags fluttering in the wind, left Liang totally indifferent. Tibet was no longer China. To Liang, centuries-old monasteries might stand proudly in the hills, witness to centuries-old traditions, but nothing could compare to the streets of Chongqing.
In Golmud, Liang had to get off the train and take a bus. He appreciated the calm atmosphere of the city. The bus station was busy, with travelers from all over the world passing each other, but this was nothing compared to Chongqing or the saturated atmosphere of the Chinese train. Liang had to wait almost 24 hours for his bus to show up. He spent them sleeping almost non-stop. Liang was experienced in traveling for weeks at a time. He could fall asleep instantly anywhere.
After leaving Golmud, Liang began the most perilous part of his journey to Kabul: the bus ride to the Afghan border. He found himself sitting in an old local bus bound for Kashgar, with worn-out seats and the smell of diesel fuel, traveling long distances through breathtaking landscapes. His bus traversed desert landscapes for several days, offering panoramas as arid as they were fascinating. Liang slept the whole way.
Liang barely felt the vibrations of the bumpy road beneath his feet. The cabin was stiflingly hot, accentuated by the absence of air conditioning. Liang was sitting far from the half-open window. He had no chance of catching a breath of fresh air as the desert dust swirled outside. He knew the feeling. He would enter a kind of hypnosis, totally immobile, all vital functions in slow motion.
The bus crossed vast arid plains, punctuated by strange rock formations and undulating sand dunes. Herds of yaks grazed here and there, adding a picturesque touch to the already enchanting landscape. The bus passed through the town of Yarkand, where the locals greeted passengers with warm smiles. Liang didn't look at the scenery, and didn't look at anyone.
As the bus went on, the roads narrowed, sometimes becoming mere dirt tracks. Stops were frequent, allowing passengers to stretch their legs and buy local snacks from street stalls. Liang bought a little food, spicy kebabs, crispy patties. He ate without appetite, just to survive.
The scenery changed rapidly as the bus climbed the steep Pamir Mountains. Snow-capped peaks loomed majestically before them, offering a breathtaking spectacle. The seasoned driver deftly negotiated the tight bends, and the passengers clung to the handles, smiling nervously.
The sun began to set, painting the sky in a palette of shimmering colors as the bus approached Kashgar. Mosque domes and minarets loomed on the horizon, adding a touch of elegance to the bustling city.
After a brief stopover in Kashgar, Liang boarded another bus bound for Tashkurgan, a town close to the Pakistani border. The bus crossed more narrow valleys and deep gorges, offering spectacular views of the Karakoram.
Finally, the bus reached Tashkurgan, where the mountains gave way to grassy plateaus and verdant oases. Liang changed buses one last time to reach the Pakistani border. Customs formalities were laborious, interminable. But Liang was finally able to cross the border thanks to an officer who regularly received gifts from Cao's network.
The bus headed back across the border, crossing mountainous territory until it reached Jalalabad, a lively and colorful Afghan city. The roads were winding and often in poor condition, slowing down the journey. Passengers were getting closer to Kabul. Among the Pashtuns, Liang was relatively unnoticed. He knew a few words of Pashtun, and his bearded, mixed-race face didn't indicate he was Chinese.
As night fell, the bus passed through sleepy Afghan villages, their narrow streets lit by dim lights. The peaceful beauty of the landscape contrasted with the hustle and bustle of Kabul, where Liang was due to visit the following day.
Finally, the bus arrived at a small bus station outside Kabul. Liang disembarked, too exhausted to show any willpower. He absolutely had to rest to face the rest of his journey. A local cab driver took him to a discreet hotel on the outskirts of Kabul. The next day, if he woke up, Liang would call Baqir and consider what to do next.
