A catenary (the curve of a loosely hanging rope) drawn as straight lines perpendicular to a tractrix (the curve created by the other end of a pole pushed and pulled from one end, if you can manage to succeed at it). The tractrix itself is not depicted. I did this for a Rosetta Code task about how to draw a straight line nicely with a computer.
