So I’m currently checking in with my amazing palliative care consultant from the incredible @cityhospice on a weekly basis via video call (and on not so good weeks via several phone calls). I’m so grateful to be receiving such wonderful care and support despite the effect Covid-19 is having on hospice and palliative care services. It’s been infinitely strange to only talk to Margared via video and phone, and to see her wearing scrubs for the first time ever. She’s been as kind and supportive and awesome as ever, but me and mum have seen how tired she looks on our video calls. As part of our weekly video call appointments, I’ve started wearing my biggest and craziest headbands; Margared says they cheer her up, therefore I shall be wearing my best headband every week in an effort to make her smile/laugh! I really feel that hospice and palliative care services are one of the most underrated vital services during this pandemic; these amazing teams are not only still trying to care for all the extremely poorly and vulnerable people they usually care for, but are also caring for Covid cases.
