Dinner at Gurney's Newport [Travel: Rhode Island]
Dinner at Gurney’s Newport [Travel: Rhode Island]
This last summer really really flew by! It was my first summer being back in New York after having spent the last few years living in California so I was really excited to be able to connect with old friends. It felt like there was something going on every weekend! Towards the end of the summer, one of my favorite trips was when Peter and I went to Newport Rhode Island to celebrate my 30th…

When an attorney meets and engineer (and former wedding photographer) in New York City and they eventually get engaged, their love of sailing and travel brings them to Newport Rhode Island for their fall wedding.  All Ashley and Brian wanted was a gorgeous Newport sunset and it looked like they wouldn’t get it on their blustery cold and cloudy October wedding day, until moments before sunset and the skies opened up and were colored in pink. Ashley and Brian’s Newport Wedding celebrated the best parts of fall with an offbeat color scheme that celebrated their love of the sea.

Ashley and Brian's Gurney's Newport Wedding was fall without being leafy and orange - wonderfully unexpected and every bit beautiful. Samantha and Eric’s seaside wedding by Kim Lyn Chauvin at Gurney’s Newport has all the classic, romantic details that this loving couple embodies. It all started with their romantic engagement in Paris – a complete surprise to Samantha, who curates her own popular lifestyle blog, Bonjour Blue. Once back home in the West Village of New York City, this heartfelt pair knew that a wedding setting by the sea, closer to home for Samantha’s native Cape Cod roots, was in order. The set to work choosing the venue, photographer, flowers, and just about the prettiest illusion backed gown we’ve seen!
On a warm, early autumn day, Samantha’s ivory lace “Elisavet” Ines DiSanto gown was stunning and complemented by a Mark Ingram veil, Manolo Blank ivory pumps, and a soft pop of nail color in pale seafoam blue (Essie “without a stitch”) recalling her signature color and Bonjour Blue blog. For her flowers by BloomBar , Samantha knew from the start that her favorites – peonies and anemones – must be included, and they were in abundance throughout her wedding. Both black-eyed and green-eyed anemones were nestled alongside blush peonies, garden roses, and local lace cap hydrangeas. Their wedding cake from Scrumptions – iced in chocolate buttercream, per the bride’s request – was covered in blooms and followed the same soft color palette as the rosey bouquets and centerpieces.
After the harborside ceremony concluded, guests nibbled on hors devours and sipped champagne while watching sailboats return from the sea. Under the perfect cotton-candy sunset, guests moved inside to the stunning ocean view ballroom, filled with flowers and hundreds of mercury glass votives. After the day faded, Samantha and Eric chose to donate their beautiful wedding flowers to a charity called Repeat Roses who delivers flowers to local nursing homes and hospitals. This sweet couple’s wedding is one you don’t want to miss.
