WiFi connections with multiple networks are common these days. It is possible to see the WiFi passwords of the saved networks if you are lucky enough to find any connections near you. You can then save the passwords of these protected WiFi networks and use them whenever you’d like to. In this article, we have discussed the methods to See Saved WiFi Passwords on Android in very simple steps.

Sometimes you might forget the WiFi passwords on your Windows PC and would like to connect your Android phone to the same network. But you can’t find the option to see the password and let your phone access it. So, here are two methods which will help you view passwords on your Android device.

See Saved WiFi Passwords on Android

Method 1: Access WiFi Password for Smartphones with Android 10+ [Without Root]

Open the WiFi Settings: Go to the settings menu and search for “Wi-Fi” category. For Stock Android, you can locate the category by going to Settings –> Network & internet. Once you find it, tap on it.

View Wi-Fi Passwords: Go to the “Saved networks” option.

The you’ll see a list of all the Wi-Fi networks your phone remembers. Select one of them.

Now click on “Share” option and you will be asked to verify its you by taking your fingerprint or passcode. Then you will see a QR which represents the Wifi network’s SSID and the password will be below it.

You can use this scanner code for any other device if you’d like or you can use the wifi password to login to the network.

Method 2: See Saved WiFi Passwords on Android Using Root Explorer [Root]

Download and install the ES File Explorer app on your device (Click here to download it). We are using this since we are trying to access a system file on android. So, using ordinary file explorers is not possible for this purpose. We will use this app as a root explorer.

Launch the ES File Explorer app and go to app settings by clicking on the menu key.

In the settings, tap on the ‘other settings’ section and select the ‘Root settings’ option.

After that, in the ‘Root settings’ option, then check both the ‘Root Explorer’ option and the ‘Up to root’ option. If you are enabling this feature for the first time, your smartphone will show a prompt asking you to grant this app the root access. So, select the remember option and then click on allow. This will enable the ES File Explorer app.

Now you can view all the root Android files when you tap the up button instead of exiting the app.

Then, click on the ‘local’ option form the navigation bar.

Click on the ‘Device’ option.

Select the directory named ‘data’.

Then choose the misc folder.

Find the Wi-Fi folder and enter it by tapping on it.

Now find the file named ‘wpa_supplicant.conf’ and tap on it to open the file. Use the FS Explorer’s built-in text/HTML viewer for opening the file.

You should now have the option to see the system SSID and relating wifi passwords close to it. Search for the network that you wish to know the wifi password of, write it down and close the file.

Please be extremely cautious and make sure that you don’t alter anything in the document. If you do, then you may begin getting a few issues with your WiFi network which can be hard to distinguish and correct it if you don’t recall or know about the edits.
