thinking about mo ran telling shi mei “he’s just my shizun, nothing more than that. liking or not is irrelevant”, chu wanning overhearing it, and then months later (since he kept avoiding mr), when mo ran tried to help him chu wanning replied with “you and i are merely master and disciple, nothing more than that. there’s no need for any unnecessary concern between us” that shit hurt man
