Tigran Avinyan Visits Defender of Homeland Rehabilitation Center
On April 8, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Aviginian visited the Rehabilitation Center of the Defender of Homeland (DHRC). During the working visit, the Deputy Premier got acquainted with the ongoing activities and toured the premises. Armenian State Medical University (ASMU) Rector Armen Muradyan and DHRC Director Haikuhi Minasyan presented the Center’s organizational structure, its activities, the halls and equipment equipped for specific procedures.
The Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with the conditions of the building and the process of treatment of injured servicemen. Tigran Avinyan toured the wards, talked to the soldiers under treatment, asked about the process of treatment. He called at the library, canteen and recreation room, as well as inspected the construction of the building intended for prosthetics. The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mesrop Arakelyan and Deputy Minister Tatev Stepanyan, Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan and Deputy Minister of Healthcare Gevorg Simonyan.
The DHRC was established in 2018 in cooperation with Assistance to Wounded and Disabled Servicemen NGO, YSMU and the Ministry of Defense. The center runs on a charitable basis; services are provided free of charge to citizens of the Republic of Armenia: wounded servicemen, disabled soldiers and persons suffering from health problems as a result of military service.
Children of deceased freedom-fighters are eligible for free outpatient treatment. To date, about 3000 people have benefited from the programs implemented in the Center. The possibility of expanding the Center is currently being discussed. It implies establishment of a multidisciplinary medical institution adapted to the needs of disabled persons.
