Hakmin lee of studio HAK has made a chain of surreal looking furniture pieces inspired by way of toy figurines, cartoons and avenue artwork. The project started out when the seoul-based designer became interested in the blurred line that exists between art and design, luxury style and road fashion, high culture and sub subculture. He consequently attempted to combine furnishings with toys and figures to create the sculptural ‘paw’ furniture series. The collection comprises four pieces: the paw bench, the paw stool, the paw side table and the paw coffee desk. The designer uses an aluminum sand casting method to seize the details of the objects textured floor, ensuing in a totally tactile appearance. The playful layout integrates oversized paws, whether or not serving as the ft of the bench or clutching the glass surface of the side table. on this way, the series brings an element of humor to normal chair and desk products.
