that was the phone call hawk had just gotten privately at the clinic from phoenix. he didn’t bother to clean up anything in his office, instead just grabbed his coat and headed right out the doors and telling his coworkers he wasn’t going to be back for the rest of the day and possibly tomorrow as well. hawk ran as fast as he could over to the station and almost ran into a few people along the way with only a muttered apology as he kept going until he finally made it inside, immediately asking where matt was. he was told matt was fine but he didn’t breathe a sigh of relief until he saw it with his own eyes and went up to him and pulled him into a hug carefully as to not mess with his arm.

“i swear to god i’m gonna kill whoever did this what the fuck happened?!” hawk finally pulled away and moved a hand to cup matt’s cheek. “are you okay? why didn’t you come to the clinic?”

“You know people are gonna poke fun at me for bein’ the ‘angel’ for our costume right?” hawk wrapped his arms around matt’s waist feeling a tiny bit anxious to go out looking like this.

clara was the last person that hawk thought he'd be helping avoid a trip to the clinic for the day but then again this was clara and he'd gotten used to seeing her there most of the time anyway. the comment made him clear his throat a little, it wasn't exactly a great time for either of them when this was similar to how they'd spend their time together. hawk moved from on top of her and off to the side, sitting there for a moment till clara reached a hand out which he took after dusting off his palms on his pants. "yeah no problem," he comment as he now dusted off his shirt, "you uh.. you alright?"

for once hawk decided not to work an event, he was strictly off today mostly for his own sanity because he almost didn't go at all but he wanted to spend time with his husband outside of the house. "i know realistically you can't be attached to my hip but if shit goes down i'm throwin' you over my shoulder and goin' back home, i'm not dealin' with the towns shit." he wrapped an arm around matt's shoulders, so he was still a bit hesitant about these celebration things.

matt was at work, hawk was not at work and that meant one thing: hawk was bored. he didn't like to bother hobbes a lot during the day since hobbes for the most part worked at night but hawk decided to go bother him at his place today.

knocking on the door, he moved to the porch fence and leaned against it while he waited. he remembered all the times he'd be standing in this same exact position with hobbes smoking and just staring off in the distance talking about random bullshit. hawk was pulled out of it when he heard the door open, turning around to see hobbes and smiled. "hey there handsome." he walked up to him and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, "hope it's alright that i stopped by unannounced."

"alright well i'll try and make it a point to make it more obvious when i'm jokin' and i'll stop making jokes about.. the other stuff." hawk said. he noticed the embarrassment from her but didn't say anything aside from that.

A bit of embarrassment shown on her face as she looked away. "It's more that I'm not used to it," she admitted quietly. Xiu hated being inept at anything, but thanks to her parents strict guidelines, social interactions were one thing she was never particularly great at.

he was honestly relieved when he heard that zelda moved out of the commune before the announcement that there was now a new house to live in. it felt like a weird weight had unknowingly been lifted off his shoulders. visiting her at her place hawk knocked on the door with something random in hand as he waited.

hawk had found out that falco had a booth at the ren faire and decided to stop by when hobbes and matt went off to do their own thing for a bit. "so how's my little brothers booth comin' along?" he asked sitting down in an empty chair nearby. "hey did phoenix nail you in the head with a 'fireball' or was i just the lucky one?"

"how are you recovering?" hawk asked not bothering to look up from the clipboard just yet. he was looking over his notes from the last time elijah was in and was now just checking up. "pain manageable with the meds i gave you?"

hawk tried not to laugh but failed and let out a few chuckles. "see you got a sense of humor on you." he shook his head a little until he leaned back against the counter with his arms crossed. "you might be right." he said before his eyebrow raised a little at the offer, unable to help the smile that formed. "yeah.. yeah that would be cool. just let me know whenever."

Sora huffed, a small pout forming as he gave Hawk a mock glare, "Yeah, my balls," he said before realizing what he said. Feeling his face flush, "I um...uh...sorry that was uh...yeah," he mumbled. Thinking it over he shrugged, "I mean yeah this place has hella silent hill vibes, but that kind of just makes them seem more like good for research. Who knows maybe there's a movie that has the answers to all our problems," he said before pausing, "Uh...if you ever wanted to watch some...that be cool.

hawk was going to go get himself some coffee while he had a free moment from work since he was tired and needed some form of caffeine. he was only half paying attention to where he was walking when he bumped into someone, causing the drink they were holding to spill on the both of them which annoyed him until he realized who it was. "my bad." hawk said and tried really hard not to laugh and was trying to wipe the smile off his face. "in my defense you're not at my eye level so it's pretty easy to not see you."

hobbes always had a key to the house to come and go whenever he wanted and with it being a week after the wedding hawk wanted to invite him over to just hang out. he was hanging out in his bedroom when he heard the front door, he almost thought it was matt but with the garage freshly built again he figured he wasn't gonna be back for a while. "in here!" hawk called out not wanting to move. seeing hobbes walk in made him smile, sitting on the edge of the bed to grab his hand and pull him between his legs. "i was thinkin' we can go out and get some lunch, maybe pick some up for matt at work and come back here to just watch some movies. you can spend the night if you want too."

who was hawk kidding, this shit was stupid and he didn't even want to be there yet here he was. maybe it was cause he actually wanted to go, maybe it was cause he was secretly hoping he'd be paired up with matt but that whole idea came to a close when the pairs came out. sure they shared glances at each other throughout the night but people were flirting left and right with him and hawk was feeling.. almost jealous? the night of matt saying he liked him played on a loop in his head trying to figure out if it was like as in tolerates him for a good fuck or if maybe there was something more. he needed a smoke so he went outside and sat on the front steps, lighting it and taking a long needed drag. that was until he heard the door open and someone stopping behind him, "go away will ya? i'm tryna smoke in peace." hawk didn't bother looking up to see who it actually was just that he wasn't in the mood for conversation from anyone.

hawk smiled a bit, as much as he ragged on the guy he was glad she had someone in her life that genuinely cared about her like that outside of family. he blinked in surprise a bit when she hugged him and again at hearing dad, those were both something he wasn't used to but he hugged her back. "no problem kid, come on we should go now before it gets to late. i'll walk you home."

"he's my best friend, i'd be lost without him. he means the world to me" hearing from hawk that he could tell that they both cared about one another, did slightly ease the panic in her head. he still cared about her according to the last conversation he had with her dad. zelda smiled at her dad and dived forward to wrap her arms around him in a hug "thank you dad"

"hey kid," hawk smiled and walked over to her with a piece of cake in hand, extending it out to her when he made his way over. "got you some cake." he stood there for a moment with his hand in his pocket until he rubbed the back of his neck. "you enjoyin' yourself today? how are you and that.. frank? guy?"

hawk had been avoiding having that conversation with hobbes, so much so that they both were just completely avoiding each other for a bit. he did promise matt he'd talk to hobbes but he didn't promise when so he kept putting it off and putting it off. hobbes would still come over to hang out with matt and watch sports together but matt would give hawk a heads up so he wasn't caught off guard. although matt must've noticed that the two still were barely talking because when he came home from work one day there hobbes was, sitting on his couch with matt no where in site.

he shrugged off his jacket and hung it up like usual, scratching the back of his neck a little. "hey," hawk finally said, guess it was now or never at this point, "matt ask ya to come over to watch sports together again?" considering he couldn't see his boyfriend anywhere nearby he can only assume he was hiding out in one of the other rooms and forcing the pair to talk.
