BENCANON 001: Birthday

Haha! Time for a birthday headcanon. I wanted to babble a bit about Ben's birthday and how it feels about it.

The overall gist of it: Ben gets overwhelmed by its birthday now that it's famous but plays it off as obnoxious and overactive as to not raise eyebrows.

Ben will be extra obnoxious on its birthday for sure. It'll tell its closer friends that they have to be nice to it because "It's my biiiiiirthday you legally have to be NICE to MEEEEEEE," and tell them to do things because it's its birthday. It sometimes gets painfully annoying to such horrific extremes to its closest friends to kinda test the limits (though this is par for the course since it kinda does this in general).

However, to the keener eye, Ben its sort of antsy when it gets showered with all sorts of happy birthdays from complete strangers and having its social medias, email, mailbox to the big Ben-Addicts (literal canon name Ben's fans have). It's just the constant reminder it literally has no privacy. Information about it is so public and being that it's also very close to the holidays, it already adds on more to the pot of overwhelming emotions.

Ben's already not super great at processing its emotions, so it'll usually default to being obnoxious and arrogant when it's getting overwhelmed by the extra attention on top of how already ridiculously famous this kid is. Literally in some UAF comics, an OV comic, and in the show proper, Ben sometimes can't go anywhere casually for its birthday.

I assume the actual birthday celebration is chill, but definitely later in the day, closer to the evening. It's the part of its birthday that it likes because it celebrates it with Gwen since they share a birthday. It's only for close friends and their family, and it does genuinely enjoy that. However, its energy is kind of all over the place.

Ben likes attention there's nothing about this kid that technically HATES attention, but it appreciates getting the "happy birthday" more from people that its actually close to then just several millions of pings all across social media platforms from random fans and people.

All that said, it doesn't necessarily want to STOP celebrating its birthday. That would mean not wanting to celebrate Gwen's, and that alone is VERY important to it. It's got really complicated feelings about its OWN birthday but not Gwen's, so it's going to keep celebrating. It LIKES that it shares its birthday with Gwen now because of how when the two were younger they HATED it. It's important to it, even if it also exhausts it the week before when people are already going "OMG ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY SOON!!!!!!", the day of, and then the next week when it gets late birthday wishes and THEN Christmas and New Year's messages.
