Granted it wasn't the only thing, but pokémon is like my fandom mother and even though I'm not into it anymore I still feel a lot of affection for the whole franchise both for childhood nostalgia reasons and because 1) the anime and the games contributed to turning little me into a hardcore a shipper before I even knew what shipping was 2) a bit later its manga was one of two things that most allowed me to actually learn english
