BTW. genuinely an animal on the hunt#he’ll nuzzle and cosset and mesmerise his prey but that’s not the affection of a human lover so much as it’s the cat playing with the#fledgling in its paws. obviously if hammer had had their way he WOULDN’T have been mute but it’s better somehow that he rarely talks.#he doesn’t need to descend to the kind of hammy dialogue the mortals in his films had to struggle through. he’s the count#he’s barely capable of existing on the very outskirts of human society when he absolutely has to— but never for long. like any vampire he’s#repulsed by and repelled from the same society he’s utterly and inseparably dependent upon. the blood is the life#and that kind of isolation only sharpens your teeth. the terrifying lover who died yet lived
