So I was on YT, as one is, and found some random ST short. It was made in August, basically talking abt scriptgate when the van scene script was coming out. And of course, there were tons of Microwaves and homophobes. So I just wanted to talk abt some of the comments ig

They were replying to three different people in this picture, but I took out their names fir their own safety incase somebody got the crazy idea to send them hate. Please don’t send anyone hate!!

Let’s start with this one. This is the top comment on the video. Many people in the replies had agreed, saying it was weird, sick, ect. Anyways, let’s go. First off, we’re not obsessed with their sexualities, we just talk about them and have our own headcanons on them, mainly Mike, because he’s not confirmed to be anything yet. Yes, tons of us really like Byler! But i wouldn’t say we’re totally obsessed or weird about it. There are definitely some weird (bad) people out there though. I feel like a lot of Bylers (including myself) like it because its cute, but it’s also realistic, and relatable. I’m pretty sure anyone who has grown up queer, or even just be queer in general has had a struggle similar to Will. I struggle with my sexuality, I’m still figuring myself out! And I also have a crush on my best friend, so Will is definitely relatable for me!

This one is a bit to unpack for me. It’s completely fine to miss their friendship! They have a really cute friendship, their very close! But that’s the thing, their not only very close, but like, extremely. They usually always sit together, but like smooshed sit. And they stare at each other’s lips, which isn’t a normal friend thing. And it’s not like they did it once, they’ve both done it multiple times. And there had been many background things like lighting and signs that have pointed towards Byler, and some things the Duffers have said, and the actors too. And it is confirmed that Will is canonly Gay and in love with Mike! So it wouldn’t be impossible to happen. And Will’s sexuality hasn’t been his main focus in the show. It is definitely part of him in the show, because of his coming of age arc that is supposed to be coming up, and the fact he’s in love with Mike, but it’s not his main focus in the show. His main focus has been related to the Upside Down and the Mindflayer. Yes, we talk more about his sexuality, but it’s not the only thing we talk about with him.

This one does make me a little angry, because it seems Homophobic. But it’s also funny because it’s not true and their also using a pfp of Robin Buckley, a canon gay character. For one reason it’s wrong, it’s definitely not obvious Mike “doesn’t like Will”. He has actually showed way, way more signs to him liking him back (i.e. the lip glances, the Will Voice™) than not liking him! He’s also not confirmed straight, so we don’t know yet if he is. That’s why many people hc him as gay, because we can, it does make since, and he isn’t confirmed to he anything else. And nothing about unrequited love is good. It hurts the person in love, and that’s definitely not good for someone. It hurts a lot, and it’s not fun.

And that was all the comments that I screenshot, though there was one I remember saying something along the lines of “why can’t two guys just be friends?” Two guys can totally be just close friends! But like I’ve mention before in this post, they aren’t just close friends. They have looked at each others lips multiple times, had more heart-to-heart’s than Mike and Eleven, always been super close to each other while sitting and standing, Mike has put his hand over Will’s hand before, which could be seen as romantic, and more!
