he tightened the grip on the towel in his hand, taking a break from his cleaning to look the other dead in the face. as if he didn’t have enough to worry about, now he had to add a lightwood family dinner into the equation as well.

“you’re killing me, alexander. both literally and metaphorically killing me.”

he took a step closer, tossing the cloth to the side as he reached out to brush a bit of lint from the other’s shirt. he wasn’t even sure he could handle a full course dinner with maryse lightwood. it was almost a guarantee that by the main course he’d want nothing more than to be swallowed by the floor.

“why you suggested a dinner i’ll never understand.”

he had begun to turn to return to his cleaning, stopping in his tracks at the sudden dip of dark hair and the gentle brush of the other’s lips against his own. he always knew the one way to make him melt.

“fine… but only because you asked so nicely.”

     he’s not joking. he WISHES he was joking, but it only the truth. they’ve been together... well, not necessarily openly, but just openly enough that word had gotten back to his mother & when he’d invited her to a family dinner - a way to reconnect in light of all the changes going on in their lives - she had surprised him by adamantly stating the other be invited as well. 

     Alec doesn’t blame him for the look he gets - he’d ALSO rather face down a shax demon than have his mother meet his -- boyfriend? significant other? he’s not entirely sure what they are just yet, but he knows he’s important to him & really, that’s all that matters. 

     that, & the way alexander rolls off his tongue. it makes it damn hard to do anything but smile ruefully. ‘ I’m not killing you, ’ he snorts. ‘ don’t be dramatic. its’s just dinner and it’s not even my cooking. ’ he tugs him in, the kiss soft, brief. a promise of more, if the other is patient enough to wait for it. 

     ‘ thank you. ’ they’ll survive this, he knows. not that he was worried about it. but somehow it makes warmth blossom in his chest. he can’t put into words how much this means to him just yet, but maybe the other can tell. ‘ now, what can I help you with? ’

Growing up, Seb and Jon were inseparable and they still are. They love their little sister dearly and would do anything to see her smiling and happy. They once went to NYCC dressed as the Weasley Twins and the Hitachiin Twins, just to have fun (Clary was their Ginny and Haruhi). Occasionally, the both of them will pretend to be the other, just to confuse their mom and get a laugh out of it. They seem to have that twin telepathy that twins are rumored to have and it works out to their advantage a lot of the time. One twin will sense the other in distress and go to their aid. They’ve shared a lot of late night talks together just trying to fall asleep or work through some stuff in their lives.

     ‘ you can stop fretting over me, you know. ’ there’s no heat in his words despite the exhaustion though. Alec offers him a smile that doesn’t entirely reach his eyes, feeling his arm & his shoulder ache. Magnus wouldn’t heal him, even a simple iratze wouldn’t be enough to gloss over the trauma his body had endured. no, these would take time. time, & care. naturally, he doesn’t have the patience for it but the gentle way Sebastian is looking after him doesn’t trigger his temper like anyone else might so he doesn’t pull away.

     ‘ I’ll... be fine. I promise. ’ he won’t be allowed in the field for some time at all, though. not while he’s recovering. Alec grimaces, looking over at him. ‘ distract me? ’

“Couldn’t find anywhere else to crash?” Alec huffs into his blanket as the other man drops himself down on top of the covers and does a smaller semblance of a star fish. As people started to leave the party, Alec had eventually dropped himself down into his own bed. Unsurprisingly people had been too inebriated or too exhausted and stayed behind. Simon and Izzy had probably crashed out in her room and he wouldn’t be surprised if Jace was hogging one of the couches, very possibly with Clary.

Angel Ink | heavenmoved

Alec Lightwood was an artist, first and foremost. He'd spent a great portion of time learning art, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to defend himself, or run a business. He'd been in line to take the family law firm, a job Alec didn't really want, when his baby brother had died in a car accident. Alec pulled away, put more focus on his art and eventually got noticed by a tattoo artist, who took him under his wing and Alec's art became tattoo material. He was the youngest artist to work for Angel Ink, but it didn't stop the influx of customers for his designs. He'd gotten a few done for his brother, who had loved ancient runes and languages, so that Max's memory was with him every time he finished a piece of art. The shop had been quiet today, so Alec had been doing touch up cleaning. Sweeping, straightening art that hung on the walls, working on the calendar he'd put in for scheduled appointments when the bell rang. "Welcome to Angel Ink." he said, looking up. "How can I help you?"
