ICYMI, I recently made my first (huge) YesStyle haul! I got to try a lot of things, from k-beauty cosmetics to makeup, tools and accessories. They offer a really huge selection of beauty, clothing and lifestyle items at very affordable prices, including more than 3.000 Japanese and Korean beauty brands like Elizavecca, Some By Mi, A’pieu and more. In today’s post, some of these will be present – keep reading to find out more!
Check out the previous haul: YesStyle: First Haul! K-Beauty and Suncreams! (Part 1)
Makeup
I already introduced this store in the previous post and I plan to do a more insightful review of their treatment and what I think about it instead of what I got in another post, so let’s get to the exciting part: the products!
e.l.f. Cosmetics: Instant Lift Brow Pencil
3 colours | Cruelty-free | Vegan
You may (or may not) be surprised by this, but YesStyle offers international brands as well as Asian. Proof of that are the following products: I got e.l.f.‘s ultra-famous Instant Lift Brow Pencil, which I’m loving, and L.A. Girl‘s HD Pro Conceal Concealer.

This brow pencil is really good. It’s easy to apply and lasts really well, so I will definitely be repurchasing it in the future!
L.A. Girl Cosmetics: HD Pro Concealer / Color-Corrector / Highlighter
43 Tones | Cruelty-free | Vegan
And, as I said, I also got L.A. Girl‘s HD Pro Conceal Concealer, which I got in the lightest white shade so I could use it for creative makeup. That’s something I’ve done in the past with Colourpop, for instance, but I think I’m liking this one better. It’s very creamy and has amazing coverage.
A’PIEU: Juicy-Pang Water Blusher
12 Colours | Cruelty-free | K-Beauty
And I obviously could not try k-beauty without giving their makeup products a try! A’pieu is one of my favourite skincare brands, so I decided to give this Peachy Liquid Blush a try. It’s very lightweight and juicy-looking on the skin, I really like it so far!

Tools
I also got some interesting skincare tools and cotton pads at really amazing prices. That’s the thing about YesStyle: there are plenty of cool items at unbeatable prices.
Choyu: The iconic cleansing sponge
Everyone owns, or at least, knows about microfiber makeup removers like Choyu‘s. They have been a huge trend for a while now, and they’re an eco-friendly alternative to cotton pads. This particular one is meant to be able to take off heavy makeup, but there are two other types for lighter and slightly heavy makeup.
Aucucci: Roller Facial Beauty 3D Massager
Facial rollers. Do they even work? Some beauty gurus swear by them but I’ve never seen that much of a difference even after using them regularly. However, this one from Aucucci caught my attention. I feel like it’s more convenient for the body since it’s too big for the face (I have been using it on my neck though), but it can be used on the cheeks, forehead and more.

Yulu: Scalp Massage Cleansing Tool
For the past few months, I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for hair massaging tools that can be used with shampoo to stimulate and exfoliate the scalp, which can increase hair thickness and growth. And I’m really seeing process! So I would say that giving Yulu‘s Scalp Massage Cleansing Tool a try is very worth it.

A’PIEU: No Dirty Brush Cleansing Soap
Besides cosmetics and makeup, I also got this Cleansing Soap for Brushes from A’pieu. It comes with a little silicone washboard that we can use to scrub the brushes and clean them pretty quickly. It works really, really great! It’s probably the best soap for brushes I’ve tried, even compared to Beautyblender‘s. I also find the packaging really convenient.

Beauty Artisan – Cotton Pads
Finally, I added this huge box of single-use cotton pads made of bamboo charcoal cotton to my basket. They’re meant to be used as makeup erasers, and even if they are very light and slim, they do their job pretty nicely. I’m very happy with them.

YOUSHA – Face Wash Head Band
Headbands don’t have much to them except how comfortable they are. And in this case, Yousha‘s Beauty Turban is a really nice pick – it’s not too heavy or sturdy but still holds the hair pretty nicely. Plus, it’s really cute and affordable.
Accessories
Lastly, I also got some cute little accessories from A’ROCH and DREN:
Dren‘s Star Moon Earrings and Arroch‘s Zodiac Ring
I don’t know how well they’ll remain; they’re obviously not high-end jewellery but they don’t look bad at all for what they cost. Still, I liked the cosmetics more.
And… that concludes the hauls! I hope you guys enjoyed them. I’m genuinely very pleased with the service from YesStyle and how the products arrived. And the quality is amazing! I will keep showing you guys more on Instagram and Twitter, so make sure to follow me there. If you have any questions, I’ll be more than happy to answer them in the comments or DMs!
So, have you tried this website? Do you like their k-beauty (and general) products?
Before you leave, don’t forget to follow me on social media. I try to be more active there, and it’s an easier way of seeing my follow-ups and updates! ♡

How To Apply Smoothing + Pore-Filling Primers For A Flawless Complexion
February 11, 2020
If you listen to any beauty guru or professional makeup artist, they’ll tell you that a good primer is the quick answer to reducing the look of pores, fine lines and textural imperfections that can interfere with a flawless complexion.
But does how you apply that primer impact how well it works? In my opinion, when it comes to smoothing and pore-filling primers, YES.
I actually hated pore filling primers for years, because I felt they didn’t really do anything to hide my pores, but after tweaking how I applied these types of primers, I’ve come to change this opinion and now, I’m reaching for my smoothing primers on the daily…

How I Apply My Pore Filling Primer
My primer application epiphany came last year, when I decided I had several primers in my collection that really needed to be used up or tossed. My makeup vanity is quite petite, so excess products take up space that could be used for my more well-used items.
Deciding to give my pore fillers and smoothers another go, I thought I’d experiment a bit…instead of massaging the primer into my skin as usual, I decided to use a bit more primer but gently patted and pushed the primer onto my problem areas instead.
A small change, but an important one, I realized that my dislike of pore-fillers was on me, because I wasn’t applying them correctly all this time! After using my gentle patting and pushing approach, my primers worked much better and blurred my imperfections quite well.

Why It Works
When you overly massage pore-filling primers onto your face, you actually thin out the amount of primer you’ve applied, making it less effective for smoothing and filling.
Instead, by gently patting/pushing the primer onto the areas that need smoothing, you are creating a thin layer of primer that sits on top of the skin and fills in all the imperfections below it – just be sure to smooth out the edges of the primer – you want it to sit seamlessly on the skin and not look noticeable or heavy.
Need an example? Think of buttering your toast in the morning; if you spread a small amount of butter all over the entire toast, there’s less butter sitting on the surface and most of it seeps into the holes and doesn’t always completely fill them in. However, applying a slightly thicker layer and gently spreading the butter over the toast leaves a layer of butter on top to fill all the holes.

Is TikTok’s Viral Makeup Application Hack Worth Trying?
Oh, TikTok. Bringer of Justin & Hailey Bieber dance duets and generally fun content we all need a little of in our lives right now. TikTok has also exploded with beauty hacks since its launch, too. And one in particular caught the attention of just about everyone earlier this month. A user by the name of Jarida took to the social media platform to share (and sing the praises of) a makeup hack she’d learned for perfect-looking skin.
“If you wear makeup, watch, change your whole routine and try this instead,” she began, before instructing users to use their base products in reverse. Yep, you read that right. After moisturizing, Jarida suggests applying translucent powder first – “don’t use too much,” she cautions – followed by a setting spray. Once the spray is dry, apply your primer and then your foundation, instructs Jarida. “Just see what happens, and how amazing your f***ing makeup is going to look.”
Jarida shared that this wasn’t her own idea, rather something that has been around for a long time but is her own personal favourite technique. It received rave reviews from other users who tested it out which left us curious as to what a professional makes of all of this. So, we spoke with Toronto-based makeup artist Susana Hong, who has worked with the likes of Kate Upton, Jane Fonda and Shania Twain, to find out more.
What are your thoughts on this technique that’s gone viral?
It’s great if you have normal-oily skin and want a fuller coverage. Adding the powder first absorbs excess moisture so you have a nice dry base to begin with. This also allows the foundation to adhere to the skin at its maximum coverage capabilities, giving a velvety-matte finish. I am not a fan of a full coverage myself – I always love a little natural glow to show through no matter the condition of the skin. Rather than adding a powder artificial glow after (highlighters) why not have it there in the first place and enhance if need be?

Have you tried the technique before?
I actually did try this technique once on a model who has problematic and very oily skin. It works pretty well, but not better than having a full coverage foundation that would do all of the above for you without the extra steps. I found it harder to blend because the foundation gripped almost too well, whereas fuller coverage foundation gives you a bit more time before setting. And I did find the finish too cakey for my liking.
What are some of the potential issues that will arise from this technique? You mentioned it gave a cakey finish.
This is something that I would not advise for those that have dry skin, or those that have concerns with fine lines and wrinkles. This technique will definitely settle into those lines throughout the day, as will a lot of products that give you so much coverage. When your skin is dry or mature, you really want to achieve that natural luminosity that you can get with a lot of good skin care. Then, just add a little on top of that to make it flawless. I really think we need to steer away from this flawless “beat” that has been trending with makeup for the last few years.
What’s your advice as a makeup artist for achieving a flawless base?
Number one: Good skin. I know that sounds redundant, but that really is the key. Have a tight skincare routine, and exfoliate regularly. Then it really doesn’t matter as much what foundation you put on top….because you’re already radiant. As for specifics, I am a huge fan of cushion foundations and tinted moisturizers. They really even out any discolouration, and keep the skin supple. I really think the base foundation should be the least of your coverage concerns. I always challenge those who have decent skin texture but love medium-full coverage foundation to try something lighter and more skincare-based. By the time you add your concealer, eye makeup, blush, etc. you really can’t see that much of a difference to your look. Except you don’t look dry or matte, and you won’t have heavy pigmented makeup settling into your lines and creases.
