as she speaks, she peers around the tree over his shoulder, and offers the stranger a grin, holding in her hand not a cigarette, but a small black candle, on which three symbols had been carved by herself with a blade years ago. for some reason ( that thorn will call not a coincidence, but a causality of the universe ), inspiration will not strike unless the candle has been lit, and she has it by her side whenever she works on new lyrics.

" sorry -- did i scare you? " nose scrunches in apologetic demeanor, and as she places the candle on the ground beneath the oak where the stranger sits, she crouches down next to him and rests her lyrics notebook on her lap, " i've just had the worst writer's block ever, and i need it to be gone before the halloween festival. the candle's always been inspo material, so i kinda need it to be lit, and i forgot my lighter back on the bus tour.
