@mandy23b @wltz-bby @happyskywhale
There’s nothing like being consistently inconsistent!
Tumblr media
Director Krennic + 2 & 94 - “Hey, hey, calm down. They can’t hurt you anymore.” / “I had a bad dream again.”   Requested by @alotofrandomfangirling
Author’s Note: Oh my goodness sweetie, thank you for your patience with this! In fact thank you a B U N C H of you for your patience with this. I’ve certainly described this to enough of you!
Basically I usually give Krennic a ‘sassy’ reader, or he gets Lorena!  So I gave him a Timid!Reader as an experiment. Annnd I’m super excited to see what the results will be 👀👀👀👀👀👀
Wide Awake - Lacuna Coil Wide Awake - Katy Perry
Disclaimer: Rogue One has nothing to do with me / gif not mine /  song lyrics not mine Actually I thought this was funny. @alotofrandomfangirling is also responsible for Sugar, a 2 song fic. Wide Awake is no exception, it follows through on the same principle!  😁
Premise: You had always struggled in the Empire, through no fault of your own. Krennic deems your work useful though. Through his help, and your love, perhaps you can gain that much needed confidence boost...
Words: 3557
Warnings: Violence / Threats / TW Abuse
--- Yeah, I was in the dark I was falling hard How did I read the stars so wrong And now it's clear to me That everything you see Ain't always what it seems Yeah, I was dreaming for so long I wish I knew then What I know now Wouldn't dive in Wouldn't bow down Picked up every piece And landed on my feet Yeah, I am born again I don't have to pretend And it's too late The story's over now, the end Thunder rumbling Castles crumbling I am trying to hold on God knows that I tried Seeing the bright side But I'm not blind anymore I’m wide awake --- I haven't felt right Since the moment that I gave up I challenge my limits I'm feeling I'm becoming limitless I take it all in and inhale The struggle within Now I understand Freedom begins When you get out of the cage you built It looks like I'm crazy but I'm not the only one To believe in myself, believe in myself I won't be coming undone  'Cause I feel like I'm wide awake Open my eyes and the skies are blue All of a sudden I know that I treasure my life I find myself wide awake Like you... All of a sudden I know that I treasure my life, like you
---
He was growing used to being woken in the middle of the night. A little too used to it; even though it wasn’t for any good reason. Krennic sat up immediately at your quiet moans; “No, no..! No! Wait-! Please-! Stop-!” Sometimes you’d be near enough screaming it, sometimes you’d wake bolt upright in hot and cold sweats, and would battle with abnormal breathing. Tonight it was your tossing and turning that worried him. You struggled. You had ever since you’d been brought on board. You were timid and not really all that cut out for working for the Empire. You didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter, a victim of the circumstances of your planet; you weren’t ranked, you weren’t even particularly good at anything like engineering, or command, or any complicated algorithm that was being worked on here. Krennic knew two things – you made exquisitely good coffee, and you could draw. It took a little while for him to pick up on this. Judging by the array of marks that had covered your body at the time, a little too long. What happened was they had kept putting you in the wrong places. The Empire was trying to make you into one of them. What no one had realised yet was none of this would ever be your remit. The Empire wasn’t forgiving though, so when you sat at your desk and your concentration lapsed you drew, because that was what you liked doing… Those a little too drunk on their scrap of power decided they would take their frustrations out on you instead. Krennic had been witness to this more than once – the first few times, true enough, he’d thought much the same as everyone else and didn’t see why he’d need to waste his time trying to defend someone who couldn’t do their job properly. Now he only sat and wondered how he could ever have been so wrong. Because one time a folder had been sent up to him that contained technical drawings. He was an architect and yet these rivalled even his. Upon asking who had made them there was only one answer. You had. “Oh, you’ve finally found a place for her then?” “Well no. It was only a temporary assignment.” “She drew these and you made it temporary-!?” So Orson spend maybe half a day trying to locate you, and when he did it was the same as ever. Only this Commander was on the biggest power trip yet – that Krennic was privy to seeing - and this wasn’t about you sitting there drawing, but about you not doing your ‘job’ properly. Dragged from your desk by your hair and thrown onto the floor, the string of words was bad enough. Krennic didn’t need to see you receive a true beating over this – the way you raised your arms and shrunk away as if you were used to such a thing, Orson wasn’t sure if that irked him or pained him – reaching for his blaster before he could even really process what he was doing. Krennic only needed a hand on it, not even to draw, that was warning enough. “Let her go, Commander.” The grip on your arm only tightened, and you whimpered. “Don’t waste your ammunition, Director, this one isn’t worth it.” Krennic was a little more worried about the look on your face, his jaw tightened, “I said, let her go, commander.” “She needs to be taught her place.” “I’ll teach her in due time Commander, let her GO.” The man looked affronted, “You wouldn’t want her Director-” Krennic cut in with a snap, “What I want her for is my business. I won’t ask again.” Instead of just letting you go you were shoved violently towards him, whimpering again as you attempted to stand, then stumbled. Already shaking and on the verge of tears, Krennic didn’t want to deal with this here. He swept around you, looking to put distance between you and the man he was eyeing with disgust – even Krennic’s hand gently against your back made you jump. You certainly weren’t used to being touched soothingly here. “Come on. Let’s go.” His voice was low, and only heard by you – before he surged forward, not looking but only calling back. “Keep up!” You tried your best to do as he said, and only started crying when Krennic sat you down in his office. But he immediately softened, watching you sit there. You were in bad shape, through no real fault of your own. And yet you cursed yourself for sitting there and crying in front of a man that was probably about to call you pathetic. You were even more worried about what he might do to you – being a Director. He was about as high up as it got, and you’d heard a lot about Director Krennic before. He was about as unforgiving as they came, and had a temper. Heck you’d heard him shouting at subordinates from across the other side of the station. You weren’t sure you even wanted the chance to mess up anything of his. Instead he crouched beside you, and took your hands; “Hey, hey, calm down. They can’t hurt you anymore.” You still shied away from him, chewing your lip to try and stifle your crying. Completely disbelieving; how could he possibly guarantee such a thing? “They will. They always do.” “Not if I put you in a position I think you can do.” He gathered the folder from his desk, “Y/N… I want you to look at this.” Your eyes widened and finally met his – he knew your name?! How-!? You asked him such, with a stammer – and received a smile that made your heart dangerously leap. “This is your work, right? How can I forget the name of someone who draws like this?” You opened it, and he was right – technical drawings you’d been asked to do last week. About the only assignment you’d actually enjoyed.  You nodded, “Y-Yes… these are mine.” He rose, fingers under your chin to make you look at him – you instantly blushed, even harder as Krennic ran his thumb over your tear stained cheeks. “First and foremost, I’m an architect – so I know good structural drawings when I see them. Just so happens I have a lot of work… and I could use an assistant.” He very nearly smirked at the look on your face, eyes wide and lips parted, pretty blush dusting your cheeks. Shy, sweet and innocent. He chuckled, you would be just perfect. “Me?!” He nodded, “If you want it. I would be demanding of you – but I’m in need of someone that draws like you. I can’t promise you much, good pay, work you may enjoy… perhaps most useful to you is my protection. I won’t let anyone hurt you anymore, Y/N. Not whilst you work for me. And if anyone does anything to you that you don’t like – you’ll come directly to me, is that understood?” You nodded obediently, swallowing thickly, “Y-Yes Sir.” “Sir?” The Director tipped his head and then really did smirk, which only made you blush harder, “Why, Y/N, you haven’t even accepted my offer.” “Oh-! Oh I---!” You looked away from his face, holding the folder close to your chest, foot tapping nervously to a beat that wasn’t there, you could feel your palms getting sweaty; “…I would very much like to work for you, Director.” “Good.” He sat on the edge of his desk, “Sir is a good start, you can address me as such, or Director. I’ll leave that to you. Now, you have no rank… so, how would you wish to be addressed by me?” You felt maybe your last name was going to give you horrible flashbacks to the hell you’d lived here so far, “Y/N… that’s- that’s fine.” “Y/N it is.” Krennic nodded, “I look forward to working with you, Y/N.” *** So you drew what he wanted you to, you accompanied him to meetings and carried his work, and occasionally – when Krennic looked like he needed it most – you brought him coffee. At first he’d been confused by this notion, because he hadn’t been expecting it. And you immediately looked startled, like you thought he might lash out at you for it. Krennic learned quickly which words, phrases and tones would trigger such a response from you – and tried to use these as little as possible. But soon having you as an assistant wasn’t enough, because he couldn’t help wanting you to stay. The reserved looks you would always give him, or the way you’d blush when Krennic complimented you, shying away whenever he got too close. His confidence in himself was everything you’d ever wanted to be and you fell for his charisma hard. He worked you hard sure – but he was also kind to you. Krennic treated you like a real person, not just a cog in the system (even if you weren’t a very gifted cog). And so, yes, eventually you couldn’t help but have a crush on him – yet for him to want you back? You’d never really thought it plausible. Until he almost literally spelled it out for you. (Mind you, there was nothing like being pushed up against a wall by your boss and being kissed in a way you’d never been kissed before. Then you got to call him by his first name.) All of this might have been in the past. But it was never really in the past.  When Orson’s head was turned in one direction you could still see the way everyone else looked at you with contempt, that made you swallow hard and step a little closer to him – sometimes you’d reach out and tangle your fingers in his cape, just to know he was there. Everything was fine when he was around because no one would dare touch you. But there were places Krennic went where he couldn’t take you, even if he desperately wished to. He never sent you off to other work stations, but he did occasionally ask you to run things for him, or send across documents – especially if he needed them. But you couldn’t help still be a little scared of what happened when he wasn’t around. People had many different words they liked to call you, and none of them good. The inference was that you were easy, too shy to say no, you’d let Krennic do whatever he wanted to you and wouldn’t put up a fight. Not a relationship, just a man using you because he could. And when Krennic wasn’t protecting something he ’possessed’, everyone else would take their own advantages. That led to Krennic coming back to you in various states of distress. Whether the abuse you received be verbal or physical – and sometimes you couldn’t sleep. Where he’d stay up with you and hold you and let you cry, or rant… whatever you needed to do. Krennic only ever requested one thing – even if you didn’t want to talk about it. There was just one thing you must tell him, as he pulled you close, touching your foreheads together and soothing you: “Who hurt you?” Orson made it his mission to dispatch these assholes pretty quick; either to crappy projects, front lines or… on the rare occasions that it was seriously bad, or he was in the mood, literally. Krennic wasn’t one for hidden blades, but he’d confronted a particularly nasty commander about the situation and been met with complete ignorance. As if Orson was supposed to believe you were lying. Krennic walked with him through some of the quieter corridors, and played it off as a misunderstanding – until they were so far away that Orson knew it’d take them a while to find the body. By then Krennic really would be none the wiser – and he was a good liar. Running that dagger through him had been the easiest thing, and Orson had spat his words with unadulterated venom: “NEVER touch her again… You so much as look at her…. And…” He brightened, on purpose, “OH! Wait!” As the man collapsed Krennic turned on his heel, tossing the blade down the nearest trash compactor, leaving him there to bleed out and die; one less moron on this project was a blessing in his eyes. But, as tonight, the PTSD of everything that you’d been through gave you terrible nightmares. And Krennic hated seeing you have to relive it all again; especially in your dreams – when here lying in bed with him should have been when you were at your very safest. He shook you awake gently, “Y/N…” You whimpered to his touch and a pang ran through his heart. One day he’d make sure they all paid for doing this to you, “Y/N!” Now Krennic was a little more urgent – you didn’t deserve this, not any more. You jumped as you woke, breathing hard and crying out. “Hey, hey! It’s okay! It’s okay!!” Krennic bundled you in his arms, cradling you against his chest he kissed your forehead, running his hands into your hair Orson hushed you, rocking you gently, “You’re safe… You’re here with me… You’re okay, we’re okay…” Orson’s voice was soothing against your skin as you buried your face in his chest, doing your best to hide your tears. If there was one thing you still hated, it was crying in front of him. Krennic knew this of course, but he certainly wasn’t about to mention it. Not even in teasing. This wasn’t the time for such things. He held you in quiet for a while, until you were calmed enough; “You want to talk about it?” “…I had a bad dream again…” He sighed, nodding, “I know, Y/N. I’m sorry.” “I don’t know why this keeps happening!” You nearly wailed – wondering what exactly you were doing wrong to have all this still stuck in your head now. He sighed, tucking your hair back, “It isn’t your fault, little one. It’s this place, it’s this project.” “No…” You lay your head against his beating heart, voice quiet; “It’s just me.” Krennic’s face knitted into a frown and he tilted his head until he could almost catch your eyes – you turned away from that – and he grabbed you; tipping your chin so that you had no other option but look into his eyes. “No.” His voice was stern, and you’d only ever seen him look like this when he was very angry, borderline upset. Like there was a storm raging behind those clear blue eyes. “No?” You voice was even quieter, if at all possible. You’d never been scared of him, yet right now you felt that you should be. “Don’t you dare, ever, blame yourself for what they do to you.” “If I wasn’t so-” useless… pathetic… “So, what? What are you? Y/N. They don’t know who you are. I know you. We have made it this far together, and we’re going to keep making it.” Orson took your hands in his, splaying your fingers, “You’re better than them. And you know you’re better than them. You owe them nothing. And I know you know who you are. I believe in you…” He pressed another kiss to your forehead, this one harder than before, “But I need you to believe in you.” You kept staring at him in silence, lips delicately parted. How could one man be saying so much to you when he was saying so little? You sat back, knees up and kept staring at him. For so long that he tipped his head, eyebrow raised and waiting for you to say something. Your hands were still in his – and you squeezed them tight, perhaps tighter than you’d realised. But it was like tough love, like Krennic saying what he’d told you - in the way he’d said it - could get through to you in a way that sweetness never could. The realisation that this man was too in love with you to ever let you talk yourself down, that Krennic could never let you give up on yourself. Finally you leant forward and kissed him, long and hard, hands in his hair, tangling your body with his. Krennic couldn’t help but smirk against your kiss. If that wasn’t all the proof that you’d really heard what he said. He pulled you back into the sheets; “That’s my girl…” *** Change came slow – but all together change came fast. A few days later you woke up to a brand new uniform. With a rank bar. A real rank bar. You knew it was him, but Orson wouldn’t hear a word of thanks from you and pretended like he had no idea where it’d come from. Only now instead of just addressing you by name, he addressed you by rank. And every time he did it sent a shot of confidence to your brain and a shiver down your spine. It might only have been the bottom rung, but it still put you on the ladder. Better yet, you still had him to fight for you and to help you through every step. He delegated you more responsibility, and now got to sit at his desk and watch you smile as you corresponded with all his architects and engineers. Krennic leant on his hand, and before he knew it hours would pass. The Director realised he was content to watch this all day. Eventually you would look up and catch his eyes, and your smile would become a beam – because no matter how absentmindedly, he was smiling too. And that smile was proud. The folder slammed down on his desk after that was just one of many. Your Director was moving projects, and it meant leaving this one in a hurry. It was what he wanted, and especially wanted for you. But it only made anxiety set in. All you could think was that he wouldn’t need you, was that he would drop you for something else. Perhaps that Orson would even drop you for someone else, now he was onto something new. A new girl for a new project. All these anxieties only made you dream things you couldn’t possibly tell him about, even when he held you so tight. But your lover knew; he knew you and the way that you worried. So, subtly, he’d place snippets from these folders on your desk. He’d ask what you thought of places he could base himself, or what you thought of some of the regulation. Then to really drive home the fact that he wanted you with him, he had you assist him with drawing out concepts. Where he’d get a little too close, running his hands over your shoulders and through your hair, and you could flash him a little smile and ask him about appropriate distances. You knew the thoughts in his head by the look he gave you, and the smirk on his face. You turned away quick, blushing and staring hard at the paper… but you couldn’t help thinking that maybe you’d want him to make that distance even less appropriate... He didn’t though, instead Orson rounded the table and leant across you; “You know we’re leaving soon, right? When are you gonna think about packing-!?” Your wide eyes raised to him slowly. Krennic had been putting things in boxes for weeks. This was the first time he’d mentioned you doing the same thing. Your eyes welled up. “Me?” “Yes. You.” “…You’re… taking me with you-!?” “Darling.” He sighed, eyes to the ceiling, “You’re my assistant, are you not?” “Y…Yes…” “More important than that,” He took your hands in his, parting your fingers, only to fit his own between the spaces, “you’re my partner…” This time you were crying, but these tears weren’t bad ones, so yes, you’d let him see them. Krennic cleared his throat, brushing your tears away; “Y-Y/N! Please don’t cry over the plans---!” *** This project was different. Remarkably different. You didn’t have a past here, you didn’t have to worry about your past here. It was a clean slate and this time when you dreamed, you dreamed good things. You dreamed of him… Of the future you hoped you would get to have. The people respected you here, and not just because you were his assistant, but because you really were exceptional at the one skill you supposed you had. You were taking a short break together this week. But nothing about this project felt like a chore… and you could enjoy working as much as you could enjoy being in love. You took a deep breath, watching the world go by with him by your side, fingers laced together – and allowed yourself to smile. And then laugh; a gentle, carefree laugh. You had to treasure this, what you had, who you were, and him – while you were given the opportunity to do just that. Krennic held your hand a little tighter in his at the sound of your musical laughter; you were still timid – but you were working hard at it every day. And you were free now, which to him mattered the most. Yes, Krennic would always support you, but perhaps now, you were ready to stand on your own.

11/16-! Oh man, I can see that finish line--!
Thank you so much for reading and requesting! 💙💕😘

Judges 19:1-20:48, John 3:22-4:3, Psalms 104:24-35, Proverbs 14:22-23
Today is the 4th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you as we move toward the end of our week today and enjoy our weekend. It's an honor to be able to take the next step forward on our journey through the Scriptures. We take 365 steps and boom we’re at the end of the Bible. And today we’ll be taking the 124th step forward. And we’ve been reading from the Common English Bible this week, which is what we'll do today. And we have been working our way through the book of Judges, meeting the 13 different judges that are named in this book who led Israel after Joshua died and we’ll be concluding that look tomorrow and there's one more story to tell. And buckle up. It's a doozy. So, today, Judges chapters 19 and 20.
Commentary:
Okay. So, as we move our way to the conclusion of the book of Judges we end with a story of carnage, one of my least favorite stories to read actually, because it talks about the Civil War and pretty much the entire annihilation of the tribe of Benjamin. And as we conclude the book of Judges tomorrow we’ll see that as this fact settles on the people it's profound as they realize or we’re basically not 12 tribes anymore, we’re 11. And it's a pretty hard story with some pretty hard choices that were made that systematically culminated in this civil war. I mean we began the story hearing about a guy in the Ephraim Highlands, who had a concubine who left her husband and returned to her father in Bethlehem. And from there we hear of the choices that were systematically made that led to this catastrophic thing happening. And, you know, it's a disruptive story. It's supposed to be a disruptive story. Like, when you are disrupted by the Bible, when you're like, “ooo…like…I don't wanna think about that…like…I don't like how this makes me feel. I don't know what I'm supposed to do this. Where is God in the story? Why is this story in the Bible?” When that's happening, it's happening on purpose. The Bible doesn't just exist to somehow give you every instruction for every detail of your life. The Bible is inviting you to press through to God, the God of the Bible and Bible is going to disrupt you in ways that make you wrestle because this is how we grow. This is how life works. This is how we grow. So, what can we possibly learn from such a dark story? There's plenty of things to learn. We can see the anarchy that had befallen the people. This city of Gibeah where all of the concubine…you know…where this concubine was essentially abused to death, its ruins still exists. We filmed them, what is there, and they can be found in the Promised Land films. It's not really an accessible place. It’s definitely not a place you can go and tour. And really even though archaeologically Gibeah has been identified it's not an archaeological site. It’s kind of a contentious place because, if you kind of know a little bit about the about the modern story of Israel's formation then there was time when Jordan controlled have of Jerusalem, which also encompassed the area of Gibeah and there was a palace that was being built on the site of Gibeah of Benjamin and then war broke out and the Israelis were able to be victorious and take the rest of Jerusalem and this territory where this palace was being built was abandoned then and then it’s just kind of been sitting there since the 60s. So, it's not really an archaeological site and it’s not really in the safest of places to tour it, but we have filmed it. Yeah, there’s places that you can go to look down upon Gibeon and we've done that on different Israel tours that we’ve been a part. It’s just such a sad story and, you know, it's rooted in geography and it’s the kind of story that goes viral, right? So, even as the events in Gibeah happened and the man divided the concubine and sent parts of her to 12 tribes, that went viral and brought, you know, almost a half million people together to talk about it. And if you go back through the story once again, when we find these problematic pieces of Scripture, we start blaming God for all this stuff. And then we look back into the Scripture and we find like, no God didn’t command any of this to happen. The story just begins in the backwaters of Ephraim somewhere far away and then we watch compounding decisions that seem insignificant that eventually lead to this kind of an outcome and we have to wonder about the carnage that we've inflicted upon the world through the systematic seemingly meaningful choices that we’ve made. Now, not to the degree that we’re talking about in Gibeah. Man, that one slighted word, that one false lie, that one mean look. One thing leads to another and before you know it like you can be walking in from work, say hi to your spouse, everything's fine. Five minutes later for seemingly no reason it can be World War III because somebody said something the wrong way. And we can see like just the simplest decisions, they can lead to things and it gives us a sense of the weightiness that everything we do matters in some way or another. Every choice that we make is creating our day. Every decision and interaction that we have is creating our world and everything matters. And we’ll see if there's any redemption in this story. In fact, I'll just tell you. There is redemption in the story. We’ll begin to see that redemption as we conclude the book of Judges tomorrow as the reality that a tribe is missing from Israel due to Civil War, as that begins to settle in, then plans can be made to try to save Benjamin. But then as we move forward out of the time of the judges and into the time of the monarchy, into the time of Kings, we’ll see that Israel has a first king, his name is Saul. He's not the greatest of Kings and he has a lot to teach us about ourselves as we get into his story. But what we will find is that the first king of Israel comes from the tribe of Benjamin from the city of Gibeah.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your words. We thank You that it's willing to disrupt us. It's not trying to be false to us, it’s trying to be a friend that speaks the truth into our lives and sometimes that requires us to be disrupted so that we are set off of our even balance and we have to invite You to come and lead us. And, so, we thank You for these kinds of disruptions and we ask that You help us to slow down and pay attention to what we’re doing and what we’re saying, slowing down enough to walk with You in all things because everything matters, everything adds up to something and we have watched how small meaningless, seemingly meaningless, things do add up to conflict in our own lives and we’re just seeing this at a macro level in the Scriptures. And, so Holy Spirit come, help us to choose well what we do and what we say today. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

In Jesus Christ name I cast the enemy out of this marriage. In Jesus Christ name may the Holy Spirit be the primary guide and the wisdom __, and the wisdom of how they will raise their children, and the wisdom in every situation and every move. I seal this marriage in the blood of Jesus. I seal this marriage in Jesus Christ. Amen. And thanks Jesus. Praise the Lord for China. I praise the Lord for Ben. I praise the Lord for the DAB family.
Hello this is Not Shaken. I’m calling for my son. I’m calling again for my son Bryan and his drug use…drug abuse that is ruining his life and hurting his family. His two little girls that I’ve been concerned about for being cared for by a family member, but they still need him. And he has gotten himself locked up. He went into a store without a shirt on and they…they wouldn’t allow him to come in and he became combative and was fighting. And I’m just glad no one was hurt. But he’s in jail and I’m just praying that everyone would please pray for him. It’s been so long, and I feel so alone. __ he’s been going through this and he is…when he’s off drugs he’s an amazing person. He just isn’t able to stick with it and I just pray that this is the last time, that once and for all he will decide what he needs to do a stick with it and that God will bless him and that he can be a father again. Lord Jesus please help us. Amen. This is Not Shaken. You for your prayers.
Hi DAB family, this is John from Montréal calling in. First of all, I want to thank Brian and Jill for this amazing place for everyone who listens and calls in and makes this community what it is. I’ve been listening for over ten years now and it’s an integral part of my walk with God as I listen daily on commutes. Today I’m calling to ask for help. I’m in a serious situation. My marriage is on the verge of failure and I’m at a loss as where to go from here. Communication is completely broken down between my wife and I am just really lost. And just to compound the issue, my position was eliminated last week. And, so, now I find myself also without a job and a family to support. So, it’s an extremely trying time for me. I’m holding onto God, but things just look so dark right now and it’s hard to see the other side of the situation. So, I’m asking for all of you to pray for me and my wife and my children, that God would just give us wisdom and discernment and also that he would just break through the lies that Satan has just placed in our lives about who we are, about our relationship and where we go from here. So, I thank you all for praying. I’m praying for you all and God bless.
Family, hi, this Erin from Michigan. Let’s pray please. Father God, oh I need You. I need You to lift up my friend, the man I teach with. Lord, wrap Your arms around him. His daughter has died. His daughter has died of a drug overdose Lord God and I can’t…I can’t even…I can’t even imagine how he’s feeling, I can’t imagine what’s running through his head. He’s been raising her child as a grandpa Father, You know, because she just wouldn’t do it. She wasn’t taking care of him. He wasn’t gonna get what he needed to be a strong good boy and now she’s dead. And now…and now that little boy doesn’t have a mother and my friend, this man I teach with, he doesn’t know You Lord and I want You to reach through his fog of not knowing what to do or what he needs. Lord, just reach through that and wrap Yourself around him. Send Your Holy Spirit Lord God to comfort him. He won’t accept it if he knows it’s coming from You Lord God but just do it anyway, just wrap him up Lord God and help my friend. Let my friend know that You are real and that You have him, You’re holding him. Lord God, help me to be a support to my friend. Help me know what to say. Help me know how to support him and Lord God most of all, help me be a picture of Your love for my friend. In Your holy and precious name to You be all the glory. Amen. Thanks family. I love You.

some people judge others hypocritically.
and some judge righteously. there is a difference here.
in Today’s reading Paul points to those who judge others but then do the very things they criticize.
what we think and believe and write and speak really does matter. just as the things we do.
Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament is the 2nd chapter of the Letter of Romans:
So you can see there are no excuses for any of us. If your eyes shift their focus from yourselves to others—to judge how they are doing—you have already condemned yourselves! You don’t realize that you are pointing your fingers at others for the exact things you do as well. There’s no doubt that the judgment of God will justly fall upon hypocrites who practice such things. Here’s what is happening: you attack and criticize others and then turn around to commit the same offenses yourselves! Do you think you will somehow dodge God’s judgment? Do you take the kindness of God for granted? Do you see His patience and tolerance as signs that He is a pushover when it comes to sin? How could you not know that His kindness is guiding our hearts to turn away from distractions and habitual sin to walk a new path?
But because your heart is obstinate and shameless, you’re storing up wrath that will count against you. On the day of His choosing, God’s wrath and judgment will be unleashed to make things right. As it goes, everyone will receive what his actions in life have cultivated. Whoever has labored diligently and patiently to do what is right—seeking glory, honor, and immortality—God will grant him endless joy in life eternal. But selfish individuals who make trouble, resist the truth, or sell out to wickedness will meet a very different fate—they will find fury and indignation as the fruit of living in the wrong. Suffering and pain await everyone whose life is marked by evil living (first for the Jew, and next for the non-Jew). But if you do what is right, you will receive glory, admiration, and peace (again, first for the Jew, then for the non-Jew). God has no favorites.
If one lives life without knowledge of the law—the teachings of the Torah—he will sin and die apart from the law. If someone else lives life under the law, his sin will be judged by what the law teaches. Here’s my point: just because a person hears the law read or recited does not mean he is right before the one True God; it is following the law that makes one right, not just hearing it. For instance, some outsiders who are not required to follow the law often live quite naturally by its teachings. Even though the law wasn’t given to them, in themselves they have the law. Here’s the thing: their lives demonstrate that God has inscribed the law’s teachings on their hearts. On judgment day, their consciences will testify for them, and their thoughts will both accuse and defend them. This good news given to me declares that this affirmation and accusation will take place on that day when God, through Jesus, the Anointed One, judges every person’s life secrets.
Listen, if you claim to be a Jew, count on the law, and boast in your relationship with God; if you know His will and can determine what is essential (because you have been instructed in the law); and if you stand convinced that you are chosen to be a guide to the blind, a light to those who live in darkness, a teacher of foolish wanderers and children, and have in the law what is essentially the form of knowledge and truth— then tell me, why don’t you practice what you preach? If you are going to sermonize against stealing, then stop stealing. If you are going to teach others not to commit adultery, then be completely faithful to your spouse. If you hate idolatry, then stop robbing the temples! If you pride yourself in having God’s law, then stop dishonoring God by failing to keep its teaching. Here’s what it says: “Because of you, God’s reputation is slandered by those outside the covenant.”
You see, circumcision is of value only if you keep the law’s teachings. But if you keep breaking God’s rules, you are no different than those without the mark. So if an uncircumcised man abides by God’s just precepts, doesn’t that make his standing before God the same as one who is circumcised? The man who is physically uncircumcised but still keeps the law, he will stand in judgment over the person who is circumcised and yet continually breaks God’s law. A mark that is evident doesn’t necessarily make one a Jew, and circumcision that is evident only in the flesh is not true. But the true Jew is Jewish on the inside—in secret places no one but God can see—and true circumcision involves the heart; it comes from the Spirit, not from some written code. The praise and reputation of that kind of Jew come from God, not from man.
The Letter of Romans, Chapter 2 (The Voice)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 21st chapter of the book (scroll) of Isaiah that continues with prophetic messages:
A message about the Sea of Wilderness (Babylon):
From the desert, from a frightening land it comes
like a raging tempest, a sandstorm in the Negev.
A vision most harsh came to me:
The deceiver deceives,
and the abuser abuses.
Get up and go, Elam;
and Media, cut off supplies!
All groaning will cease; I’ve put an end to the sounds of misery.
My stomach sinks. My gut churns with pain.
As a woman in labor wrenches and writhes, I can hardly bear the news.
I cannot hear because I’m bent over with agony.
I cannot see because I’m deep in the fog of depression.
My heart skips a beat; my mind is buzzing, terribly unsettled.
Horror and trembling rattle the serenity of the evening I longed for.
Meanwhile, the ones who are in charge
are spreading out a feast, eating and drinking just like normal.
I want to say to them:
“Get up, officers.
Oil your shields, and be prepared!”
Because the Eternal has told me,
Eternal One: Get someone to keep an eye on things.
Have him report whatever he sees.
Tell him to watch closely for riders on teams of horses, donkeys, and camels.
If he sees them, put him on full alert.
Sentinel: I stand guard at the watchtower, Lord, day after day.
I never leave my post during the night.
Look! They’re coming just as you said: a chariot driver and a team of horses.
The driver tells me “Babylon is fallen!
Our oppressor has fallen and all their idols,
worthless imposters of the one True God, are shattered on the ground.”
O, my people, who have been threshed and winnowed like wheat,
I am telling you what the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies, Israel’s God, said.
A message about Duma:
Someone is calling me from Seir.
Edomite (to a sentinel): How much remains of this night?
How long until morning?
Sentinel: Morning is coming, you can be sure of it.
But night will quickly follow.
If you want to know, then check back later.
A message about Arabia:
Spend the night in the forests of Arabia, off the beaten path,
O caravans from Dedan.
Hey, people of Tema, bring them supplies,
water for the thirsty and food for the refugees.
They’re on the run, refugees tired of war,
trying to escape the edge of the sword, the bent bow,
And the imminent threat of battle.
Eternal One (to Isaiah): Within a year—as a hired hand might count it—Kedar will be finished. All that made it so impressive will crumble. As for its archers and mighty warriors, they will all but disappear.
It will happen because the Eternal, the God of Israel, said so.
The Book (Scroll) of Isaiah, Chapter 21 (The Voice)
A link to my personal reading of the Scriptures for Tuesday, june 29 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible along with Today’s Proverbs and Psalms
A post by John Parsons that looks at double-mindedness as opposed to a sound mind:
“Ambivalence” has been defined as wanting two different and opposing things at the same time, and therefore is a state of inner conflict or contradiction... For example, we may want to be kind and loving toward someone who has hurt us, yet we also may harbor resentment or seek revenge; or we may want to abstain from a forbidden pleasure, yet we find ourselves inwardly hungering for it anyway. Whenever we feel pulled in two different directions or have mixed feelings, we are being called near to God to find help....
King David said, "I hate double-mindedness, but I love your Torah" (Psalm 119:113). Note that the word "double-mindedness" (סֵעֲפִים) is translated as παρανόμους (para+nomos) in the LXX, literally, “one who reasons around the Torah,” that is, a lawless person quick to excuse himself from the demands and truth of God’s moral will and authority... Some translations render this word as “frivolous-minded,” “light-minded,” or “vain,” though the Hebrew word comes from a root (סעף) that means to split or to divide, fork-like, like branches of trees waved with the wind to and fro (compare James 1:8-9; 4:8; 1 Kings 18:21). “Double-mindedness” therefore seems to be a fair translation in English.
The contrast is between ambivalence, or being “two-souled” (δίψυχος), and the desire for the truth of God’s Torah that unifies the soul. To be undivided, wholehearted, pure of heart, and so on, means to abhor all fantasies of imagination or thought that lead us away from the Divine Presence. “Take every thought captive” (2 Cor. 10:5). We must always be on guard lest we be seduced from our heart’s focus and direction (Heb. 4:1).
Consider temptation to be a "rabbit hole" that leads to discovery about what you really need. Take your temptation to the LORD and ask Him to fill the void, to strengthen your heart, to heal the inner divide, and so on. He already knows what's happening within your adulterous heart, so come before Him boldly to find healing and help (Heb 4:16). "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a "sound mind" (σωφρονισμός), literally, a "delivered" mind, "healed" from fragmentation (2 Tim. 1:7). The Greek word "sound mind" (σωφρονισμός) comes from the verb sodzo (σῴζω), meaning "to save," from saos (σάος) "safe," in the sense of being under restraining influence of the Spirit of God... and another about True identity:
I mentioned recently that our own evil inclination, the "yetzer hara," needs to be acknowledged so that we may find inner peace... Often our true motives are hidden - even from ourselves - so that we are unaware of how we are controlled by them. For example, if we harbor an unacknowledged hunger to find approval and validation from other people, we may lose sight of God Himself (Gal. 1:10). The enemy within is usually in hiding, and we need special wisdom from God not to be ruled by fear, anger, and so on. It has been said that “we are only as sick as the secrets we keep,” though the secrets we keep from ourselves are surely the most dangerous.
"If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you" (Prov. 25:21-22). Some of the sages have said that the "enemy" here refers to the yetzer hara, the "evil impulse," and that by proactively attending to the inner emptiness and neediness we sometimes feel - by feeding ourselves the "bread of Torah" and the "water of the Spirit" - we will overcome the evil with good (Rom. 12:21). If you feel yourself lacking, the evil impulse will offer to fill the void. The only defense against inner emptiness is to be filled with the Spirit of God. Study the truth of Scripture, pray, develop hakarat hatov (gratitude), and perform acts of gemilut chassidim. Overcome the evil impulse with good. The LORD will see to it that your cup will overflow in the presence of your enemy (Psalm 23:5). Thus it is written, "From my enemies You teach me wisdom in doing your commandments" (Psalm 119:98), meaning that the yetzer hara can teach us if we submit to God's will... Therefore Yeshua said, "Be wise as serpents but harmless as doves" (Matt. 10:16).
The essence of sin is unbelief. Sin is not so much disobedience to an external code of behavior as much as it is abandoning your trust, your identity, and your hope as a beloved child of God. As you believe so you will behave, and as you behave so you believe... Therefore one of the greatest of sins is to forget the truth of who you really are – a prince or princess of God! The great temptation of sin is rooted in the lie that we are unworthy people, that God does not really loves us (just the way we are), that He is disappointed in us, and so on. This perspicacious quote by the late Henri Nouwen speaks to my heart:
Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest trap in our life is not success, popularity, or power, but self-rejection.... Success, popularity, and power can indeed present a great temptation, but their seductive quality often comes from the way they are part of the much larger temptation to self-rejection. When we have come to believe in the voices that call us worthless and unlovable, then success, popularity, and power are easily perceived as attractive solutions. The real trap, however, is self-rejection. As soon as someone accuses me or criticizes me, as soon as I am rejected, left alone, or abandoned, I find myself thinking, "Well, that proves once again that I am a nobody." ... [My dark side says,] I am no good... I deserve to be pushed aside, forgotten, rejected, and abandoned. Self-rejection is the greatest enemy of the spiritual life because it contradicts the sacred voice that calls us the "Beloved." Being the Beloved constitutes the core truth of our existence.”
Ultimately sin seduces people to destroy themselves, since it first of all seeks to disown, impugn, and reject what is most important for spiritual life. The devil seeks to murder and destroy all that we need to be eternally healed... And though we might want to escape from this conflict (or to pretend that it’s not really here), the battle is intractably real and must be fully engaged until our redemption is complete (1 Pet. 5:8-9). Meanwhile, spiritual struggles can be downright ugly. Would any one deny that the cross of Messiah was a sacred space - and yet it was precisely from there, from the place of blood and suffering and pain and terror, that the grace, beauty, and strength of God for us would shine forth.
To effectively combat the devil, let us first of all pray to the LORD God Almighty and ask for His power, wisdom, and grace to deal with the evil one's devices and strategies used against us (Eph. 6:11-18; Rom. 13:12, 1 Thess. 5:8; 2 Cor. 10:4-5). Since we are not to be ignorant of the devil and his devices (2 Cor. 2:11), let us particularly ask God to remind us of who we really are in the Messiah, and to give us the power of the Holy Spirit to genuine walk in the truth of our sacred identity. Let’s ask God to help us practically apply the victory given to us in the resurrection of Yeshua. With God's help, may we be bold to take our place at His banqueting table, assured that we are indeed His dear children. Shalom. [Hebrew for Christians]

Doing God's Pleasure
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13)
In this passage with an unusual play on words, we are told to give our salvation a “workout.” The Greek word is katergazomai, an interesting compound word that means to “perform.” When we are told that God is working in us, the Greek word is energeô, which is the “energy” to do work.
Paul puts it this way: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh [energeô] in us” (Ephesians 3:20). This “energizing” is an internal and spiritual resource, demonstrated most poignantly by “the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working [energeô] of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead” (Ephesians 1:19-20). Since the energy to produce comes from the same Creator who saved us by grace, He has every right to expect us to “will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Peter taught us that God provided “all things that pertain unto life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). The Thessalonican church was told that “the word of God...effectually worketh also in you that believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13). And of course, “all scripture...is profitable....That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Our objective, having been supernaturally supplied by the One who saved us, is to “walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Colossians 1:10-11). Judges 19 - 21
Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. I'm Jill, it's wonderful to be here with you on the sixth day of April, we are reading the Bible together and for the next few minutes, I just ask that you let go of the worries of the day, of the anxieties of tomorrow, of the pressures of life right now. And we center ourselves around the words of God. We open ourselves to what he would say. Open our ears to hear, open our hearts, to receive and open our minds to understand, so we just take a deep breath. And let it all go to just be present in the next few moments. That's the one thing you do for yourself today, we're reading Judges chapters 19 - 21 today. And we're reading it in the Christian Standard Bible. Judges 19.
Community
This concludes the Book of Judges for us today. And as we very much can tell, during a time of Judges, it was common in Israel for every man to do what they saw fit. We see this again and we know this and the summarization of the very last verse of today's reading in chapter twenty one, verse twenty five. In those days, there was no king in Israel. Everyone did whatever seemed right to him. Without a ruler, without a king, every man becomes their own ruler. Every man becomes their own king. We have this horrific story yet again today of sexual immorality, sexual abuse. I'm not going to hash it back just because it's it's hard enough to read some of these stories the first time. I can only imagine, especially if you have been a victim of such things in your life. And I'm I'm not going to pretend that it's not hard to read stories like it is today and to try to find some bright spot to try to land on the sunny spot, the sunny side of life. This story disrupts me. These stories disrupt me as a woman who advocates for women, as a woman who leads women to their healing. Days like today are hard, yet days like today prove more than ever we are in constant need of a savior. We are in constant need of a healer and we have one. And his name is Jesus.
Prayer
So, Father, we recognize our need for you today. Again, we recognize our constant need for a savior, for a healer, for a redeemer, for you who makes all things new. These stories disrupt our own lives and sometimes they do it God, so that you can get to the center of what it is that is untouched, that needs healed, that needs wholeness, that needs renewing, that needs to be redeemed. This story today and hearing that in days like this, there was no king and everyone did whatever seemed right to him. We realize that we are in the same place. We often do whatever seems right to us. But here we are once again admitting that we cannot really trust ourselves much longer. So we reach for you once again and you are faithful to reach back. You are faithful to pick us up right where we're at. You are faithful to come in to the parts that are still broken, the parts that still need healing, the parts that are still unresolved undealt with untouched. And you come and you do what only it is that you can do. We thank you so much for your healing touch. We thank you, God, that you don't just stop at healing us. You have the power and the ability to make us whole. We thank you. We love you. We worship you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, amen.

Community Prayer Line
Good morning, DAB family. This is Sunrise. I'm calling in for others, but this is also for myself. I just wanted to pray for the women, women in Christian homes who are struggling with the weight of so many things, the weight of their children going in a direction that I don't want them to go or, you know, being influenced by people that I know are pulling them in a different direction. But just also for the family unit as a whole. You know, there are Christian families that aren't perfect. And I'm really just reaching out to those women that are struggling. Maybe you have a lot of negative spirit that are around you, a lot of negative comments that you don't feel like you're worthy, you don't feel like you are enough. And I just wanted to pray for you that to let you know that you are enough, you know, what we hear or what is around us is not necessarily especially if it's something that weighs this down and doesn't make us feel good about ourselves. That is not what God intended for us. You know, that's why you're here. That's why you're reaching out to Daily Audio Bible, because you know that there is more to God's love than what you are feeling right now. And so I just want to lift you up and say God loves you and you are precious and you have a purpose and you have to rise up right now, rise up and be who God wants you to be despite your circumstances. Rise up.
Oh my,  Jill. You hit the nail on the head for me today from the story of Gideon. This is Joyous Jannis. Having been isolated with my grief for the past year, I've been wallowing in it. But just recently, the Lord has called me out of my comfort zone, giving me an opportunity to be used by him and to minister to others. And like Gideon, I asked, how can I do, what you are asking me to do? And I asked for a sign he confirmed that it was his calling, his will for me, but I was still doubting it. Praise God he had confirmed that it was his calling to get me out of my self-pity and reach out in ministry. I thank you, Lord, for your patience with me and your affirmation that you will be with me and do the work you have for me. Thank you, Jill, and all the prayer warriors who have prayed me through this time.
Hello DAB friends. Blessings to all of you on this Good Friday. Thinking about what a great sacrifice Jesus made for us. I need your prayers friends, for my children, Cassandra, Jacob and James. They need Jesus in their lives. They need to experience the resurrecting king. I appreciate your prayers, blessings to all of you.
Hello, DABC family, this is Lanette from Des Moines, Iowa, calling in to pray for Jake and his situation. I want to remind him that his battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities and against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil and the heavenly realms. I appreciate his repentance and his seeking forgiveness from the Lord, and I ask the Holy Spirit to prompt him if there is any restitution or apologies that need to be made to set the situation right. And Lord God, I. I want to remind him of what you said in Romans eight, therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and I pray that he would learn to live in the freedom of Christ, forgiveness and grace and mercy. I pray that he would be able to extend that to all others. And I pray Lord, that you would turn his attention and his sight to the true battle, which is of the spiritual realm that is trying to steal his joy and distract him and is trying to produce other fruits rather than the fruit of the spirit, Lord, that you desire for each one of us, the love, the joy, the peace, the patience, the kindness, the goodness, the gentleness, the faithfulness and the self-control that comes through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, amen.

THE PROPHECY OF OSEE - From The Douay-Rheims Bible - Latin Vulgate
Chapter 11
INTRODUCTION.
Osee, or Hosea, whose name signifies a saviour, was the first in the order of time among those who are commonly called lesser prophets, because their prophecies are short. He prophesied in the kingdom of Israel, (that is, of the ten tribes) about the same time that Isaias prophesied in the kingdom of Juda. Ch. --- The chronological order is not observed in any edition. The Sept. very from the rest. They place the less before the greater prophets, and read some of the names rather differently, as Prot. do also, though they have nothing but novelty to recommend the change. We shall here specify the Prot. names, (H.) in the order in which these prophets appeared: (C.) 1. Hosea, 2. Amos, 3. Jonah, 4. Micah, 5. Nahum, 6. Joel, 7. Zephaniah, 8. Habakkuk, 9. Obadiah, 10. Haggai, 11. Zechariah, 12. Malachi. H. --- It is not known who collected them into one volume. but the book of Ecclesiasticus (xlix. 12.) speaks of the twelve; and 4 Esd. i. 39. specifies them as they are found in the Sept. Osee, Amos, Micheas, Joel, Abdias, Jonas, Nahum, &c. as in the Vulg. C. --- Many other prophets appeared before these, (W.) but Osee is the first of the sixteen whose works are extant. He must have continued his ministry about eighty-five years, and lived above one hundred and ten, if the first verse speaks of him alone. But some take it to regard the whole collection, and may be added by another hand. C. --- The style of Osee is sententious and very hard to be understood, (S. Jer.) as but little is known of the last kings of Israel, in whose dominions he lived, and to whom he chiefly refers, though he speaks sometimes of Juda, &c. C. --- By taking a wife, and other parables, he shews their criminal conduct and chastisment, and foretells their future deliverance and the benefits to be conferred by Christ. We must observe that the prophets often style the kingdom of the two tribes, Juda, Benjamin, Jerusalem, or the house of David; and that of the ten tribes, Ephraim, Joseph, Samaria, Jezrahel, Bethel, or Bethaven; and often Israel or Jacob till after the captivity of these tribes, when the latter titles refer to Juda, who imitated the virtues of Jacob better than the other kingdom. W. --- Then all distinction of this nature was at an end. H.

Chapter 11
God proceeds in threatening Israel for their ingratitude: yet he will not utterly destroy them.
[1] As the morning passeth, so hath the king of Israel passed away. Because Israel was a child, and I loved him: and I called my son out of Egypt.
Sicut mane transiit, pertransiit rex Israel. Quia puer Israel, et dilexi eum; et ex Aegypto vocavi filium meum.
[2] As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols.
Vocaverunt eos, sic abierunt a facie eorum; Baalim immolabant, et simulacris sacrificabant.
[3] And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them.
Et ego quasi nutritius Ephraim : portabam eos in brachiis meis, et nescierunt quod curarem eos.
[4] I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love: and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat.
In funiculis Adam traham eos, in vinculis caritatis; et ero eis quasi exaltans jugum super maxillas eorum, et declinavi ad eum ut vesceretur.
[5] He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king: because they would not be converted.
Non revertetur in terram Aegypti, et Assur ipse rex ejus, quoniam noluerunt converti.
[6] The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and shall devour their heads.
Coepit gladius in civitatibus ejus, et consumet electos ejus, et comedet capita eorum.
[7] And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off.
Et populus meus pendebit ad reditum meum; jugum autem imponetur eis simul, quod non auferetur.
[8] How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up.
Quomodo dabo te, Ephraim? protegam te, Israel? Quomodo dabo te sicut Adama, ponam te ut Seboim? Conversum est in me cor meum, pariter conturbata est poenitudo mea.
[9] I will not execute the fierceness of my wrath: I will not return to destroy Ephraim: because I am God, and not man: the holy one in the midst of thee, and I will not enter into the city.
Non faciam furorem irae meae; non convertar ut disperdam Ephraim, quoniam Deus ego, et non homo; in medio tui sanctus, et non ingrediar civitatem.
[10] They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear.
Post Dominum ambulabunt; quasi leo rugiet, quia ipse rugiet, et formidabunt filii maris.
[11] And they shall fly away like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will place them in their own houses, saith the Lord.
Et avolabunt quasi avis ex Aegypto, et quasi columba de terra Assyriorum : et collocabo eos in domibus suis, dicit Dominus.
[12] Ephraim hath compassed me about with denials, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Juda went down as a witness with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Circumdedit me in negatione Ephraim, et in dolo domus Israel; Judas autem testis descendit cum Deo, et cum sanctis fidelis.
Commentary:
Ver. 1. Away. The last kings of Israel lived in the midst of troubles. H. --- Osee, though one of the best, brought ruin on the nation. C. --- Son: Israel. But as the calling of Israel out of Egypt was a figure of the calling of Christ from thence; therefore this text is also applicable to Christ, as we learn from S. Mat. ii. 15. Ch. Julian pretends that the apostle has abused this text. But it speaks of both events. S. Jer. --- Eusebius (Dem. ix. 3.) thinks that S. Mat. refers to Balaam; (Num. xxiv. 8.) and S. Jerom does not reject this opinion, (in Mat. ii. C.) to avoid "wrangling," though he repeatedly alleges this text as a proof his version being more accurate than that of the Sept. which has his children. This reading the best editions retain; so that it may seem a matter of surprise, that Fabricius should give this verse as a specimen of Origen's Hexapla, and still print my son, taking it, as he says, from the Barbarini copy, the London Polyglot, and Cave. Bib. Gr. iii. 12. The first column has the Heb. text, and the second the same in Greek characters, &c. The reader may form a judgment of this work from the following specimen: 1. Heb. (which we shall express) karathi bani. 2. Gr. karaqi bani. 3. Aq. ekalesa ton uion mou. 4. Sym. keklhtai uioV mou. 5. Sept. keklhtai uioV mou. 6. Th. kai ekalesa uion mou. If any other versions were added, to form Octapla, &c. they were placed after Theodotion, who, though prior to Symmachus, is placed after him, because his version was not so unlike that of the Sept. and the deficiencies were chiefly supplied from him. In the Rom. and Alex. edit. instead of the above we find, metekalesa ta tekna autou. "I have recalled his children." H. --- This is literally spoken of Israel, (styled God's son, Ex. iv 23.) and mystically, (W.) though no less (H.) truly, of Jesus Christ, as the inspired evangelist shews. W.
Ver. 2. They called: viz. Moses and Aaron called: but they went away after other gods, and would not hear. Ch. --- Sept. "As I called them back, or (repeatedly; metekalhsa. Grabe has, "he called;" meaning any of God's ministers) so they rushed away from my presence." H. --- This sense appears preferable to the Heb. C.
Ver. 3. Healed them. My laws were designed to counteract idolatry. H. --- I treated them with the utmost tenderness. Deut. i. 31. and xxxii. 11.
Ver. 4. Adam. I placed my people in a sort of paradise, (C.) like the first man; and as they have imitated him, they shall suffer accordingly. Rufin. Haimo. --- But Sept. &c. render, "of a man." They shall be treated like the rest. C. --- Grace draws man by sweet means. His free-will is not destroyed, nor is he impelled, like beasts, by force or fear, (W.) though the latter is often used for the most salutary purposes. --- Yoke, or muzzle, which prevents them from eating. H. --- I furnish them with manna. Can it be suspected that I wish to oppress them? C.
Ver. 5. Egypt. Many went, contrary to this prohibition. H. --- Yet they did not prosper, as they expected. The Hebrews had also often murmured in the desert, and threatened to return to Egypt.
Ver. 6. Heads. Heb. "counsellors." Civil war desolated the kingdom, and made way for the Assyrians. Sept. "they are devoured on account of their projects." C. --- They are at a loss what to do.
Ver. 7. Off, for a long time; and indeed Israel never recovered its former state, after the captivity. H. --- Then they became more docile. Heb. is very ambiguous. C.
Ver. 8. Adama, &c. Adama and Seboim were two cities in the neighbourhood of Sodom, and underwent the like destruction. Ch. --- God punishes, like a father, with regret.
Ver. 9. Not man. I am not actuated by the spirit of revenge, nor do I fear lest my enemy escape. C. --- I punish in order to reclaim, (S. Jer.) and reserve eternal vengeance only for those who die impenitent. --- Holy one. If there be a just man in Israel, I will spare the nation; (Gen. xviii. 32.) or there are some just, like Tobias, and therefore a part shall be reserved; or, (C.) I am the just (H.) God. S. Jer.
Ver. 10. Lion. His power is most terrible, and his commands must be obeyed. C. --- All nations shall permit the return of Israel. H. --- They shall come from the sea, of from its islands.
Ver. 11. Egypt. Some returned soon; others not before the reign of Alexander, or perhaps later. C. Diss.
Ver. 12. Denials; refusing to adhere to my worship. H. --- They wished to unite it with that of idols. 3 K. xviii. C. --- Saints. The priests and temple are preserved in Juda. Ezechias brought the people to serve God faithfully, while Israel was led captive. Sept. "the house of Israel and Juda with impiety. Now God hath known them lovingly, and it shall be called the holy people of God." Thus both kingdoms were criminal, and God exercised his mercy towards both. H. --- The Jews relate that when their ancestors were pursued by the Egyptians, and the people were desponding, Juda signalized his courage by entering the bed of the sea. S. Jer. - These traditions are suspicious. C.

Exodus 23:14-25:40, Matthew 24:29-51, Psalms 30:1-12, Proverbs 7:24-27
Today is the 6th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is great to be here with you today as we take our next step forward into this month and through the Bible. And we’ve been reading from the Amplified Bible this week, which is what we’ll continue to do. We’re in the book of Exodus in our Old Testament reading. Today we'll read chapter 23 verse 14 through 25 verse 40. And we’re reading some of the first laws to be given.
Commentary:
Okay. So, in the book of Matthew today Jesus is continuing a conversation that He started yesterday as He’s walking with His disciples by the Temple complex and they're kind of marveling about the construction of the whole thing and Jesus says, “the whole thing’s coming down” basically and then He begins this conversation about the end times. So, He’s like, “the sun will be darkened and the moon isn’t gonna have any light and the stars are gonna fall from the sky and the powers of the heavens are gonna be shaken and then at last the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens and there’ll be deep mourning among the peoples of the earth.” This is Jesus actually quoting Isaiah chapter 13 and Joel chapter 2 as He's discussing the time of the end. And as we talked about yesterday when we began this conversation, Jesus is…He's revealing that the thing that we deeply long for, right, the rebirth of everything, when all things are made new. So, what we long for is preceded by things that we'd probably rather skip, right? We want the baby without the labor pains but it's only the labor pains that bring the new birth. So, for millennia we’ve been trying to, you know, observe the signs of the times and make the predictions on where we are, and an apocalyptic worldview kind of leaves a sense of unease just kind of permeating everything, but Jesus actually pulled us away from that fear and hysteria and asked us to look from a different perspective. Jesus said, “nobody knows the day or the hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son Himself. Only the Father knows. So, see you gotta keep watch because you don't know the day when your Lord is coming.” That could change our lives if we would embrace that because it involves every moment of our lives starting like right now. So, Jesus said, “yeah, I mean it’s gonna get rocky out there and there's going to be some tumultuous situations to go through but we’re not supposed to be pulled toward fear or panic, instead we’re supposed to live with awareness and hope, awareness of what's going on so that were not blindsided and surprised and hope for what is actually happening. Even though at first it’s gonna look hard and bad, it's actually birth pains, new life comes out the other side of this story.” And we aren’t gonna figure out…we’re not gonna figure out something in Jesus Himself from His own lips is claiming not to know. What we’re supposed to do is be ready, be prepared, is the whole story that Jesus told, the last of our reading today where a master has put a servant in charge of caring for the other servants and then goes away, and he expects that servant to care for his other servants until he gets back. And if he does then the master will put them in charge of all his possessions but if he doesn't and he says in his heart, and this is where it gets a really, really familiar, “it's taking a long time, he's not going to return for a long while.” If the servant in the story takes that perspective, then he will stop being vigilant about how he cares for the other servants and may even begin to be abusive toward them and may begin to be seduced into what…in Jesus vernacular, “drink with drunkards”, right? So, be seduced into a worldly lifestyle that's full of partying and no vigilance, well then, the servant wasn't paying attention, wasn't aware, and the master will show up unexpected. So, basically the posture Jesus is suggesting that we espouse and live into is to approach…is to approach the future as if it's already underway. And if we’ll heed this then we will be ready, not just like for whenever the end times may be truly upon the human race we’ll be ready to participate and collaborate with God in the redemption of the world wherever we are on the continuum. And watch as I tell you this, these themes of vigilance, of awareness of endurance, and stamina, preparedness, they're gonna run through the rest of the whole Bible. The Bible will continually shake us awake because we’re not supposed to go through life asleep, we’re supposed to be participating.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for this, another day to kind of contemplate these things, these matters of vigilance and preparedness in the context of the end times, which is what You were speaking of today Jesus. And, so, we thank You for this opportunity and we invite Your Holy Spirit to begin to speak to us about what it looks like to be ready and prepared, what it looks like to live as if the coming of the kingdom is underway, is happening, is now, and is moving forward, and we are a part of the story. Come Holy Spirit we pray in the mighty name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

And if you have a prayer request or comment, and I have a prayer request, I mentioned it yesterday, that we as a community begin to pray into and over our pilgrimage to the land of the Bible that's coming up in just under two weeks. We’ll be heading out and certainly I the team will be heading out from here but people from all over the United States and even the world will be flying in and meeting up in Tel Aviv and off we will go. So, prayers of the community over that as we go into it, as we’re there, and as we reintegrate back into our lives wherever our homes might be. This is something that needs prayer, needs a lot of prayer, needs God's people who are in this together, which is us, this community around this global campfire in this together. So, thank you for your prayers. But if you have stuff going on in your own life there are a number of numbers that you can call depending on where you are in the world. If you're in the Americas, 877-942-4253 is the number to dial. If you are in the UK or Europe 44-20-3608-8078 is the number or if you are in Australia or the lands down under 61-3-8820-5459 is the number to dial.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi Daily Audio Bible, my name is Mary Ann Wilson. I’m from the New Brunswick Canada and this is my very first call. I started listening back in November and I will hopefully get to know you a little bit better over the coming months, but right now I just want to lift up our sister Margo from Australia who’s now doing her missionary trip in Liberia. Margo you been on my heart the last two weeks at least and I’ve been prompted to call more than a dozen times. I have avoided it so I apologize. I ask you to forgive me. So, heavenly Father I just lift up our sister right out. Father, she knows that she’s obeying Your call. Father, she wants nothing more than to be in Your will. And, so Father, I praise You, the god and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. Father, we pray for comfort for Margo right now so that she as she is comforted she can then comfort others with the same comfort Jesus has given her. This Lord is what she’s been called to. Father give her peace, Father give her joy again. Lord, Your joy doesn’t leave us, sometimes we leave it. And, so, Father we just pray that Margo would grasp onto You and reach out to You. Also, Lord, I just thank You for Prodigal. I’m so glad to hear his voice again and that he’s doing better, not good but better. Father, thank you, I lift him up in Your heavenly precious arms. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Hey everybody it’s Margo from Australia still currently in the UK. Just thought I’d check in and let you guys know that I am doing better, certainly doing a lot better and I am incredibly grateful for all of your prayers. I have felt them. I really…those first few days I think I kinda just went into shock and, yeah, they were rough, but I’ve regrouped. I am feeling the peace of the Lord. I still have my ups and downs. Obviously, it’s not gonna change but I have His piece in my heart and I certainly have excitement for the future. I do want to thank a few people that specifically prayed. Valerie prayed. That day you prayed was perfect timing. And Paul from Houston, you prayed a couple of prayers that were so meaningful. Candace from Oregon, I’m so grateful for that beautiful prayer you prayed. And Amazed by Brace in Massachusetts, you said you were praying and that means so much to me. Sherry who loves to worship, that praise you prayed brought tears to my eyes. There was a man on the prayer line, I don’t think he left his name, he prayed for us and then yesterday Isabel from Australia prayed. And it is so encouraging to know that people are praying for me and my husband and understand that this is a really hard time, you know, it’s exciting, but it’s also hard and I’m so grateful for your prayers. We have…my last day today of our orientation course that we’re doing here in the UK and tomorrow we leave for Uganda. So, my husband will be doing some flying stuff there and getting his African licenses all sorted out. So, I would love it if you’d continue that that process could go quickly because we’re really keen to get to Liberia and these things can sometimes take while in African countries. Okay, I love you all heaps…
Good day everyone, this is Pamela the teacher/pastor’s wife calling from Huntington New York. I hope everyone is having a fantastic beginning of the new year. I miss all of you, haven’t had an opportunity to call in like I would like but always listening and always praying. Today I just want a lift up pastors and their wives and their families. Father, in Jesus’ name we lift up pastors, we lift up the men and women of God that stand in __. We pray for them oh God that You would give them wisdom, that You would give them knowledge, that You would give them direction. We pray for their wives as they stand with them in faith oh God that You would strengthen them and encourage them. We pray for their finances. Oftentimes Lord You know the things that have to be made with pastors and their families. We pray Lord God that You would bless their finances open up doors and make ways Father. We just thank You for their children. Oh God who also make sacrifices with their parents Lord. We lift them up God. Oh God we thank You for blessing them, we thank You for using them for Your mighty glory Father in Jesus’ name. Continue to pray everyone, for those who pray can expect a miracle. And we ask one special prayer request, lift up pastor Gary, that God will have His way in his life in Jesus name. Have a wonderful day everybody. Bye.
Morning Daily Audio DABbers. About a year ago I found this app and I was listening and I missed the whole first part of the year where Brian goes in depth into the Bibles and what we do and how we do it. So, I was just listening to the __ part. I didn’t know about the requests. It wasn’t until, I believe it was Candace from Oregon, made a statement one day that stayed with me the entire year. She said, “you have no idea.” And I was a little bit offended at that thinking, “well yeah, I do…it’s an audio Bible app.” She was correct. I felt the Lord saying, “be still.” And so, I often pose a be still on my lips. Thank you, Lord. I’ve grown so much through this year and I just wanted to share those that are joining us to this year, you have no idea what the Lord has in store for you. Keep with it. I encourage you to go. All my friends Blind Tony, Victoria Soldier, I have learned to love you through this app. I continue to listen every day. My heart is full as Brian, you and your family have such a wonderful ministry. This __ healing in parts and ways you have no idea. Thank you.

Obadiah 1-21, Revelations 4:1-11, Psalms 132:1-18, Proverbs 29:24-25
Today is the 13th day of December. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It's good to be here with you today. And that from the Old Testament today, we will read in its entirety, the book of Obadiah before moving onto the next step forward in the book of Revelation.
Obadiah:
The book of Obadiah has but 21 versus, making it the shortest book in the Old Testament. And, yet, it deals with a very long-running family issue. Contained in this one chapter is a prophecy of the complete destruction and doom of the Edomites. And if we look back on the beginning of our adventure through the Bible, we’ll remember the story of Jacob and Esau. And Jacob's descendants became the children of Israel. Right? Jacob's name was changed to Israel. He had kids. They were children. The children of Israel. Esau's descendants became the Edomites. And they were often in conflict. When God delivered the children of Israel from slavery and bondage in Egypt, the Edomites wouldn't allow them to pass through their land on the way to their promise land. And at other points in history, when Israel was being attacked and overrun, the Edomites stood by silent just watching it all go down. And God reached the end of his patience. And, through the prophet Obadiah, predicts destruction. We have good application for this today too, for although we've been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and have been made children of God, therefore making us all family, all too often we see brothers and sisters at war with one another. We’re standing by silently as brothers and sisters are destroyed before our eyes, often on the Internet. And perhaps they're getting what they deserve in our judgment. The book of Obadiah shows us a very clear picture of how God feels about this. And, so, we begin Obadiah chapter 1 verses 1 through 21.
Commentary:
Okay. So, we need to talk about this proverb for a second because Proverbs 29:25 is worth committing to memory, is worth carrying around with you, is worth having at your fingertips. Because heeding it can change the path that your life is on. It can change the trajectory of where you're going. It can shift your orientation to what you think is going on around you, inside of you. Because, for the most part, as a culture, as a people, even as believers in Jesus, we don't heed this proverb's wisdom. And when we look starkly at what not paying attention to what this proverb is saying is doing to us, it becomes pretty clear how profoundly this is affecting us. And the proverb says, ‘the fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.’ Now this word fear, as it's translated into English here, is a word that means trembling, anxiety, care, dread, as well as fear. And we all seem to carry that as sort of like a base layer of a motion somewhere down inside of us, this anxiety that's just always on the alert. And its deep within us. It touches our identity. Our fears can speak that deeply. And then to gauge how anxious we should be in a situation, we begin the comparison game. How I am I doing compared to him or her or them? And then it feeds into all of this anxiety. And because it's uncomfortable or painful, it feels true, and it shifts our identity and value of ourselves, and it becomes for us exactly what the Scriptures say, a snare, a trap. And all we have to do is kind of look back over the last 24 hours. Look at our interactions and find the point at which anxiety was rising up in us, fear was coming up inside of us, and for the most part we’ll find that there attached to a fear of man, fear of others in some way. And so, we’re being counseled from thousands of years ago that this is a trap. It's exposing where our trust truly lies. And as the proverb goes on, ‘the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.’ So, when our identity is rooted in the trust of the Lord, that's a totally different outcome than when our identity is rooted in the fear of man. And if we’ll just go through the next 24 hours, watching ourselves when we were feeling anxious, when fear seems to be overwhelming us, we can detach from that for a second just to observe - where did this come from, why is this happening, how can I follow the trail back - and we’ll find where our fears lie, and we’ll find that we’re not trusting the Lord in it.
Prayer:
Father, we take this counsel, we heed it, it's true, and it certainly can change things. So, we begin to observe ourselves and invite Your Holy Spirit to show us how so many of our fears are connected and are trapping us, are snaring us, because we’re ultimately afraid of each other or in competition with one another, rather than resting in the fact that we are Your children and You’re protecting us, and that we can, should, must trust You. Come Holy Spirit. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website. It’s home base. It’s where you find out what's going on around here.
A few things are going on around here. Today is about the last day to call in your holiday greetings for the annual Daily Audio Bible family Christmas that we do each year, our kind of virtual Christmas party that we have together. So, definitely, definitely don't delay anymore. If you're planning on participating, all you have to do is call one of the prayer lines. So, for example, here in United States, 877-942-4253 is the number to call. And, like I’ve been saying, the only rule about this is just don't combine a holiday greeting and a prayer request in the same call. If you have a prayer request, certainly, certainly call that in, but if you also have a holiday greeting, call that in separate. And we’re going to get to work on putting our Christmas party together. So, don't delay anymore. If you want to be involved, call that in.
The Daily Audio Bible Christmas Boxes are going fast, as they do. We still have some available. If you're in the United States and you want to get the Daily Bible Christmas Box in time for Christmas, because it is full of things that you'll…some things you’ll want for yourself and some things you'll want to give away…if you want that to arrive in time…then Monday December 18th is, kind of the cutoff date for that. You can certainly order after that and we will certainly ship, but it's kind of…we’re looking at the delivery schedules and…thinking that's about where we’re getting close. So, keep that in mind.
Early registration for the More Gathering for women is open right now. And early registration pricing will last until the end of the year. This makes a wonderful gift idea. So, take advantage of that. And all the details about the more gathering can be found at moregathering.com or in the Initiatives section at dailyaudiobible.com. All of your questions and the details that you would want to know about it are there.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible as we approach the end of the year then, thank you humbly and profoundly, like every day, with a heart full of gratefulness that this community exists and that the global fire burns on, and that we keep taking steps forward together. Thank you for making that possible. So, there’s a link on the homepage at dailyaudiobible.com. If you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And as always if you have a prayer request or comment or holiday greeting, at the moment, 877-942-4253 is the number to dial.
And that's it for today. I’m Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports:
Good morning Daily Audio Bible community. This is Diane O. B. in Newburg Indiana calling. And this is a prayer call and a praise report. And first of all, I want to say I am praying for this lady in California that is studying for her board exams, that had some really tragic things happen to her because her parents wanted a boy rather than a girl. I’ve been praying for you honey, every single day, and the Lord has been giving me a heart to pray for you and I believe you have the mind of Christ and you do think the thoughts of Christ. And when you take these board exams, I believe you are doing them at the end of December, you are going to pass with flying colors. And I thank You Lord for granting this wish and desire and prayer of mine. I’m going to be praying for you every day, that you have peace and no anxiety. And I’m praying for all of the others in the community. I thank you for hearing my prayer requests and lightening my load. And I just want to say do not be discouraged do not be disheartened. God loves you and He’s with you. He made you and He will take you back to heaven with Him if you have invited Him into your heart. So, God bless everybody and that’s what I wanted to say. Amen.
Hi DAB family. This is Marked as His. I’m calling from Balsam Lake Wisconsin. I haven’t called in probably over 4 months now but I hope you all are doing well. Two praise reports. My mom, who was diagnosed with breast cancer around Easter time just successfully finished up both chemo and radiation and her prognosis looks great. So, that’s awesome, and thanks. We did get all off our corn harvest in on time and our soy bean harvest. So, thank you again for that. Right now, I am struggling with feeling very overwhelmed and attacked by anxiety and self-doubt. My cousin, who abused me as a child is getting married. And I feel very betrayed because getting married is something that I’ve always wanted and I feel like God is playing a huge joke on me, giving that gift to my cousin first. And I know I’m supposed to trust in God’s wisdom and His sense of timing but right now it is really hard. It seems like I’m getting the raw end of the deal again. So, I hope all is well with you. And thank you so much for being a family to me too. I’m so glad I turned here than other really bad coping mechanisms, that they soon pass. So, anyhow. Thank you all. Bye.
Good morning my DAB friends. It’s Margo from Australia. We have this morning had a bit of a miracle and I thought I would love to share it with you guys and you could share our joy and excitement. I’ll have to talk quick though. Some of you may remember, my husband and I are applying to join the mission aviation fellowship and as part of that my husband had to pass a class on medical for his pilot’s license. And he’s been having a bit of trouble with his blood pressure. His diastolic blood pressure needs to be under 90 and he’s been up to the doctor multiple times getting it checked and just can’t seem to get that number below 90 despite the fact that he’s quite slim and quite fit and healthy. It’s just some unfortunate reason. And he’s also been getting quite bad headaches. So, this morning he woke up with a really bad headache and we thought perhaps it might be associated with the blood pressure. So, we went up to our local pharmacy to get it checked and the diastolic blood pressure was 97, which is upsetting. But, just after that the doctor phoned and said, you have to come up today and get that blood pressure checked. It’s the last day we can do it for your pilot medical. So, we thought, oh no, we already know it’s really bad, this does not look good. So, we just straight away prayed, asking the Lord for a miracle and he went off to the doctor and guess what the number was? It was 85 and he even checked it twice. And we just praise in God because He is a God who works miracles. I can’t actually remember the last time his diastolic blood pressure was that low. It truly is a miracle and He is a God who answers prayer. And just Glory to God. He loves us. I hope that encourages you as it’s encouraged us. Bye for now.
Hi Joyce in California. Hey, this is mom Annette in Oklahoma City. And little sister, little girl, I wanted to wish you the most happiest of birthdays on December 20th and I wanted to call you and sing [singing] Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Our beautiful DAB daughter, Happy birthday to you. [singing stops]. You know, we can’t always pick the families that we’re born with but we can pick the families that we surround ourselves with. And, I’ll tell you, I know around my job, I've made many daughters and sons and I would wish nothing more than to have you be my honorary daughter. And I wish you the best. I wish you the success that you are looking for. I pray that your studies go well and your examinations are exemplary, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Joyce, I love you and I'm giving you a great big hug, all the way from Oklahoma City. Have a beautiful birthday December 20th, a day we will honor from now on.

2 Chronicles 33:14-34:33, Romans 16:8-27 , Psalms 26:1-12, Proverbs 20:19
Today is the 3rd day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian and it is a pleasure to be here with you today as we get fully moved into this brand-new month and through this week together. And this week we’re reading from the New English Translation. So, we’ll; pick up where we left off yesterday. 2 Chronicles chapter 33 verse 14 through 34 verse 33.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the opportunity to read of King Josiah today in 2 Chronicles and his response to discovering how far the people had drifted away from You. His response was to completely humble himself before You, and then get about the work of cleaning up. And Holy Spirit, come into that. We realize that we also must take inventory of our own lives and realize the places that we've drifted away from our story with You and we realize that serious change that that begins by recognizing what's happening and being able to name it and call it out loud, what's happening. And then repentance, changing our minds, which then changes our ways. And, so, we invite Your Holy Spirit into that as we contemplate it today. Come Jesus, we pray in Your precious name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, its home base, it's where you find out what’s going on around here.
And we have another app update that has been released. So, be sure to update. This particular update fixes a pretty big bug in the android world. If you have a more modern android phone you have the Daily Audio Bible app, but it kind of stops on you, that is due to a certain way that the platform manages the battery resources. And it’s a bit different in newer phones. That issue has been addressed. So, be sure to update. This new version is 1.0.12. And for android and iOS devices, we've changed the user interface a little bit so that you don't have to kind of drill into a month to see that month. When you update, you’ll be able to scroll back all the way to the beginning of the year. Know, you can, you can filter however you like, and you'll see that kind of where you used to see the month. And then to the right of that…it's hard to…it's hard to do this just with the words and not be able to show you…to the right of that filtering area is three little dots and that's the settings for how you want to filter. So now you’ll be able to see, you know, you’ll be able to filter out just the episodes that you've favorited this year or just the episodes that you've taken notes and you have some notes in, just some of those kind of controls have been implemented into the interface. So, we continue to make progress. This is being worked on just about every single day. And we knew when we came out with 1.0 that there was going to be additional stability and work to do and we have been working on it all year. But that's how…that’s how it works when you build something new and launch it. So, be sure to update your Daily Audio Bible app to be up-to-date with the latest fixes and features. And you can download that now your app store.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that dailyaudiobiible.com. There is a link on the homepage. I thank you humbly, humbly for your partnership as we move through the summer months. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or, if you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And as always if you have a prayer request or comment there are several numbers that you can use depending on where you are in the world. If you're in the Americas, 877- 942-4253 is the number to call. If you are in the UK or Europe 44-20-3608-8078 is the number to dial and if you are in Australia or the Lands down under 61-3-8820-5459 is the number to call.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi neighbors. It’s Lisa the Encourager. I just wanted to call in tonight and pray for everyone. Most especially those that are going through difficult battles right now, whether that’s depression or anxiety or you have somebody in your family that’s close to you that has addiction problems. I know that sometimes when you’re not the one, but you’re always carrying the burden of others. That can be a very difficult and heavy load to carry. So, I am reaching out to you now and letting you know that I’m praying for you. And I just want you to know that God loves you and He cares about you. And just, when you do your prayers, or when I do my prayers, lately if I’m going through something like that, I’ve been speaking it out loud to God and just really asking for him to work on my behalf out loud. And, so, I feel like he responded to me in a special way when I really made a point to speak it out loud, for me anyways. So, anyways I just want to let you know that I’m praying for you. So, let’s pray. Dear Lord, I pray for each one of the individuals that are going through difficult battles in their families or with their loved ones, whether that’s an alcohol problem, an abuse problem, an addiction problem, whether it’s a teenager, a spouse, a loved one. I just pray for the one that’s holding it altogether, that’s just trying to keep their head above water God, that You would just reach out from heaven and give them the blessings that they need in their lives right now. I pray God that You will anoint them with your love…
Good morning DAB. May the Lord bless each and every one of you. Oh fellow DABbers, I love you and think of you and pray for you guys all the time. Victoria Soldier, Blind Tony, Lee from New Jersey. I just want you to know that I’m thinking of everyone. More specifically, I am praying for everyone. You know, I don’t have one war or the other at this very moment, you know, weighing on my heart but you are all weighing heavily. Even if you’re calling just to lift up someone else, I am also praying for you for whatever it is that the Lord may be able to bless you with in your life. Jay, from Tennessee, I’m thankful for you. Byron, I’m thankful for you. Salvation is Mine. You are all amazing people. The Greatest Trucker, Naidis in New York City, Tamika in Carlisle, wanting the best for your children and wanting a job so desperately. Walking by faith in New York City. Thank you for your prayers. I love you too and I’m continuing to walk by faith and not by sight. Cheryl and Arkansas, praying for military veterans, your prayer was beautiful. It spoke to me deeply as I have a brother who was in Iraq and came back not quite the same and is still dealing with PTSD. Pelham, I am singing praises of Molly and baby __ came home. I loved your message. I love the secret pinky swear. It’s just, so beautiful. Your words were so poignant. I just want to tell you all. Please remember to listen to the community prayers at the end of the week. I know it’s long but I promise you it will change you. It will change your life. And a lot of the prayer request that you don’t hear Monday through Saturday are on that Sunday additional prayer. Brian and Jill and the entire DAB family, SarahJane, everyone behind the scenes, thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you DAB family. 13 years going strong. You guys touch me deeply. I don’t know where I would be without you in my life just as I don’t know where I would be without God in my life. God sits on the throne and that no matter what we are going through, He sits on the throne. Bring your cares, bring your problems to Him and remember you have this community, you have DAB friends on Facebook, and there are people all over the world praying. I love you. Cheers. Asia and Munich.
Hey DABbers. This is Gavin __ both in Alabama. First off, Pelham, I just heard your praise report. I’d like flipped out of my chair with joy when I heard that man. Congratulations and praise be the Lord to your wife coming home to you. DABbers, if I could ask for prayer or my marriage still. It’s been almost a year now since my wife left and things rock back and forth. I will think conversation is getting better and then it just gets completely shut down again. If I could just ask you all to pray for open doors and just wisdom and guidance on what we are supposed to do because right now I’m not really sure what to do. Thanks DABbers. Love you. Bye.

Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23, Luke 8:40-9:6, Psalms 71:1-24, Proverbs 12:5-7
Today is the 29th day of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is a great to be here with you as we enter into this weekend of…I mean…if we really embrace this it’s gonna be all over the map emotionally from the depths of despair to the bright shining light of hope as we move through the passion story of Jesus. So, today, if you follow the Christian calendar is Maundy Thursday, which is simply a day of commemorating the fact that this would've been Jesus last supper, the last moments with His disciples where He would get down on His hands and knees and wash their feet and tell them, this is the model, this is the shape of life, to serve one another. I will talk about this a little bit more, maybe, as we get to the end of today, but let's dive into the Scriptures, since we’re at the beginning of our time together today. We’ve been reading from the Common English Bible this week. Deuteronomy chapter 11 and 12 today.
Commentary:
Okay. Moses is reciting the statutes of the law and giving his counsel and exhortation and warning. And he’s talking about the blessings of this covenant with God, but the curses that will come from stepping outside of it. And he tells them that when they get into the land there’s a place that they should commemorate these blessings and cursing's. And it's interesting, in both Old and New Testaments today we visit places that…man…just like a month ago we were actually at. So, Moses talks about Mount Gerizim as the mount of blessing and Mount Ebal as the mount of cursing. And those two mountains, large hills, they’re situated just above the ancient town of Shechem, which is the modern town called Nablus. So you go on to the top of the mount of blessing, Mount Gerizim. And, so, even as I'm reading this…I’m like we were just standing on the top of that Mount.
And then in the book of Luke, Jesus sales to the other side of the Sea of Galilee and has this confrontation with a legion of demons who were cast into swine. And that place exists as well. It’s called Cursey and we were just there. So, you know, you go back on the Daily Audio Bible Facebook page and kind of scroll back and see those places. And we've also filmed them extensively and they’re contained in the Promise Land films that we have in the Daily Audio Bible shop as a resource. And just fascinating to know that these stories that we’re reading, they weren’t just made up out of whole cloth. They are actually rooted in a geography. And even from very, very ancient times they still exist until today, which is one of the reasons that we continue to make the effort to provide pilgrimage opportunities into the land of the Bible and root ourselves in the places where some of these stories happened. It’s fascinating to contemplate what happened in a place when you're actually standing in the place. And I’ve mentioned that we’re planning to go back in 2019, in February 2019. I mentioned that a lot while we were there. You can check that all out at dailyaudiobible.com in the Initiatives section. Just look for Israel 2019. That pilgrimage is filling up. In fact, it's well over half full now, but you check that out at dailyaudiobible.com.
And then I a mentioned at the very, very beginning. You know the next few days that we’re walking into are, perhaps, the most important days to commemorate that we have as believers. For the last, almost 6 weeks, we've been in this season known as Lent. I explained all that we began the season of Lent. And, you know, you don’t find lent in the Bible. So, it’s like not a command, you observe Lent and don’t eat candy bars or something for 40 days. That’s not really the point of it. It's just a season that has been observed throughout almost the entirety of the Christian faith as a time to ponder, to focus our attentions on things that are out of alignment in our life, to sit with the true cost of sin. Because the true cost of sin was the life of Jesus, God in the flesh, just sitting with how profound of a love it would take for a God to condescend and become one of us, and model what life can and should look like and then offer His life to give us back our own is humbling and profound indeed. And, so, we've been kind of sitting with that if you've been observing Lent, but we come to this day, it's called Maundy Thursday. Tomorrow, of course, is Good Friday. And Saturdays Holy Saturday and Sunday is Easter. Today is a day to just understand that this is the last day of freedom for Jesus, the last day that he will move about on his own. He shares of final meal with his friends. He crosses the Kedron Valley. Again, a place we were just at and moves into the olive groves on the side of the Mount of Olives known as Gethsemane. It's still there. And He was arrested and taken to the quarters of Caiaphas the high priest. It's still there. And He was abused verbally, physically. Lies were screamed at Him. He was accused of blasphemy and sentenced to die. Today commemorates those events. And, of course, tomorrow, tomorrow commemorates the day that Jesus was nailed to a cross and died. Then Saturday is a day that, we as believers, we sit with the fact that light, that life, that good news that Jesus embodied was out of the world and laying dead in a tomb. Saturday also happens to be Passover. So, we sit with all of that moving our way toward sunrise on Sunday morning where all hope is restored. So, I encourage you to just consider what each of these days represent and embrace them and enter into them and meditate upon them and invite God into that with you. Make it a rich experience, allowing you to understand what your salvation cost and the gift that it is that you cannot possibly earn, exactly what we were talking about yesterday in Moses's teachings from Deuteronomy. Embrace these days they’re very, very important. And it's important for us to never forget. And this is one of the themes that we see in Moses, well, throughout the Torah, but in Deuteronomy, a constant reminder of where we've come from, who we are, who God is, where we’re going. We can think, I've got this down cold, I know all this, but man do we live in it? It's funny how quickly we forget things. And, so, we have these moments that come up on the Christian calendar to remind us, to do exactly that. And that's what's going on now. So, embrace these next few days. Sit with them. Allow them to sink deeply into your soul. Make them meaningful as you share them with the Holy Spirit's guidance in your life.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, we invite you to come into exactly that, all of these things that are commemorated over the next couple of days. We sit with them and invite you into them, drawing us close to you as we surrender ourselves and our agendas to your will in your ways, that we might walk the narrow path that leads to life, that we might have the benefits of the blessings that are commemorated by the existence of Mount Gerizim, all of these places rooted so that we won't forget. Come Holy Spirit. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi, my name is Nancy H. and I want to leave a praise report. The 19th, last week, I have a little dog, he weighs 8 pounds and his name is Moe. And my son had him out front, which is not fenced, and normally he stays in the yard but that day he heard the bus coming and  he ran toward it. Well, to make a long story short, I heard my son holler at him and it wasn’t good. And I went out there and he said Moe was hit by the bus. He’s 8 pounds. And he handed me Moe and he was lifeless, not breathing, his tongue was hanging out, and his eyes were closed over. And all I could do was say, Lord, don’t let my little Moe die today, don’t let me have to bury him. Well, I put my ear to his chest and I heard a faint heartbeat. And, so, I started praying. Thank you, Lord, he’s still living not dying. Thank you, Lord, he’s going to live and not die. And I pleaded the blood of Jesus over him. And when I took him inside so I could get ready to take him to the hospital I set him down and he got up and run around. So, I praise the Lord that this Sunday is resurrection Sunday. And the Lord raised my little dog up because if you saw him you’d of swore he was dead, but he lived and he’s very active. When I took him to the hospital he got a good report. Nothing wrong with him. So, I got to bring him home. And I just wanted to praise the Lord that my little Moe, the Lord loves animals and he raised him up. Thank you. And God bless you.
Hey. What’s up everybody? It’s Miguel from Santa Rosa. Thank you for those of you that have reminded me that I am a part of this community. Monica, from Kentucky, I heard you call in and leave a message that came through on one of the community prayer lines and several of you that have left comments on my Facebook posts asking for prayers over my work. I appreciate all of you. And, yeah, I do want to call in with a prayer request. And I have a lot of different things I could ask for prayer for but there’s an overarching theme that I want to ask for prayer over…and it’s this…the Lord has been unfolding for me a calling on my life. Some of you know that I am a worship leader and the Lord has been showing me that the burden for leading worship is further than just simply holding the guitar and singing in front of a church, but more of a pastoral sense of guiding the worship of the church to His holy name. And there’s much involved in that calling and it is continuing to unfold right in front of me. So, I ask for you to pray for that. And the Lord has shown me through His word, even in a word that was read just the other day in Luke when Jesus was talking about old wineskins, new wineskins. The Lord has showed me that He is preparing me to pour new wine into me and that there are a lot of pieces of old wineskin that still need to go. So, all my prayer requests that I could leave here have to do with that, that the old wineskins have to go, that there is a new wineskin that He is preparing for me, that He is continuing to make as part of me and that once that new wineskin is ready, new wine is coming. So, pray for my calling. Pray for my wineskin. Pray for me and all that’s involved in that. So, thank you guys. [email protected], by the way, for all of those who want to reach out. Thanks. Bye.
Hey DAB family. This is Michael from Mesa, now really sure to be from West Mesa as I’m closing in on the house that we’re going to purchase and move into. Thank you for those who have been praying for me. Thank you, Victoria S., for the prayers for my son Ryan and for the move and for all the rest of those who have not called that I know are praying. Thank you so much. I’m quickly calling in for Paul from Houston before I jump on my commute on the 202 to get home. Paul, marriage, I’m praying for you. You’ll be on my list. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers. And we go through so many seasons and in life with our spouses and it’s not easy to get through all of those together. And there, a lot of pain that can happen along the way. And it’s all about the pain that we choose to go through together as a husband and wife that keeps us together, that keeps us in oneness. And when that isn’t happening we try to separate ourselves and keep our real focus on Christ and then kind of come back together afterwards and say, okay, now that we have our own act together we can do better together. So, I would just pray that you and your wife would have good solid individual time with God and knowing who you are and knowing what commitment you made to Him first and to each other second and getting through your marriage. And I hope you are blessed abundantly and greatly in your opportunities to deepen your relationship with each other. So, love you all, praying for you all. Annette it’s good to hear your voice. Blind Tony good to hear your poems as always. Love you all. Take care. Bye-bye.
Hi guys this is jubilant perseverance, usually from Indonesia; however, today I’m calling you from Malaysia. I am calling after a very hectic spring break week that ended with losing my wallet in a bus terminal here in __ and having to find some friends of friends to stay with as I wait to get my passport and work visa replaced. It’s been a very…it’s a very long story…it’s been a stressful situation but I’m at peace. __ peace __ all understanding, guarding my heart and mind in Jesus Christ. Thanks to, I think, just a lot of just the Spirit’s presence and I think a lot of preparation and God has put me through before this happened that’s helped to make it less of a fearful kind of moment, but yeah, it’s stressful still. And the enemy just keeps piling on more and more. I don’t know what’s going on, but I was just telling friends on Facebook after showing them at pic up a mosquito bite that caused a really swollen knot to appear on my head yesterday. I was telling them the enemy is really coming at me hard. So, God must have something amazing on the horizon. So, I’m looking forward to a reporting great news soon.
Hello __ . It’s Lisa the Encourager. I just wanted to say I __ with the community I heard about this week. And, so, I’m just reaching out to those that are really feeling in those deep dark pits and they’re really struggling. And I just want to reach out to you and tell you that I love you right now. I love you and I’m sorry for what you’re going through and am praying for you because I want you to know and I want you to think about this, that the God that made the galaxy, the galaxy guys, He’s the God of the galaxy. The things that you’re going through on this earth, it’s not about that, it’s about your relationship with Him. So, just reach out, like I said before, remember this, He said this, are my arms not long enough to reach you? He is there for you. Please, please just seek Him out no matter what you’re going through. If you’re going through a divorce, your wife left you, you have a drug addiction, your children have a problem, He is your God, He loves you he hears you. Do not forget that. So, focus on that instead of the depression and the anxiety and the monstrous things that you’re going through on this earth and focus on your eternity and your relationship with Jesus and I promise you it will help you. And with that, I am praying for Matt tonight who found out that his wife had an eight-year affair and she’s drinking a lot and she’s letting his business go. And, so, I’m praying for Matt…
