[ @hetaliaafrica2020  Day 6: Childhood
A good portion of Mauritius’ childhood was under French colonization. Formerly being a Dutch settlement, Mauritius was abandoned after futile attempts to live there by the Dutch.Their efforts unfortunately caused much physical and ecological damage to the island. Upon finding him, France took Mauritius under his wing and renamed him Isle du France (French Island), and did much restoration to the island. France wasn’t around often, due to other colonial expats, and placed Isle Bourbon (Present-day Reunion Island) responsible for the projects occuring on Mauritius. Later, France, would give Mauritius the same responsibility over Seychelles. Although he didn’t necessarily agree with all of France’s decisions, he still greatly favours France out of his past colonizers. French is one of the official languages of Mauritius.
This post is a redo of this very old one!

[ @hetaliaafrica2020 Day 4: Family/Friends
Mauritius absolutely adores spending time with family and friends! He often considers those in close proximity to him as familial. This is especially true with members of the Indian Ocean Commission, whom his free time is mostly spent with. ]

[ @hetaliaafrica2020 Day 7: Freestyle
What’s better than taking a swim after a long day at work? Mauritius is known as a tourist destination due to its beaches, ecosystem, and landmarks. As Mark Twain said, “Mauritius was made first, and then heaven; and that heaven was copied after Mauritius.” And surely, he was right. Here’s a little painting of Mauritius in the sunset, for a good last day! ]

[ @hetaliaafrica2020 Day 3: Daily Life
Mauritius is usually a very busy man, so on his off days, he does likes to take a chance to relax and reflect on things. He’s placed a lot of plants/foilage in his house to feel surrounded by nature, even when he stays at home. When he can, he likes to take a swim, or eat outside with other citizens.]

Mauritius’ national holiday in on March 12, to commemorate their independence since 1968! Much of Mauritius’ other holidays are borrowed from India. ]

[ @hetaliaafrica2020 Day 5: AU Day!
I’ve been watching Pokemon XY while I draw so this naturally came to mind
Notes about his team down below!!
Treecko was his starter, which evolved into Sceptile. Naturally, Sceptile is his strongest Pokemon, and has saved him from a lot of close calls. He came across the mega stone for Sceptile in Hoenn
His Slowbro was an elderly Pokemon that started tagging along with him. Funnily enough, Slowbro’s quite strong despite being incredibly slow. He also came across the mega stone for Slowbro in Hoenn.
Mauri’s Flygon is his first catch! He found a little Trapinch buried under the hot sand and coddled him quite a lot. Flygon still acts like a baby despite being a powerhouse.
France gifted Mauritius a Fletchinder when he visited him in the Kalos region. Now evolved into a Talonflame, it’s found him many rare items along the way.
While in the Kalos region, he found an incredibly stubborn Mawile that refused his help, yet still tagged along. After a while, and after being saved countless times by Mauritius, she decided to come along with him officially. He even ended up recieving Mawile’s mega stone from France!
When he visisted England in the Galar region, England gifted him a Morpeko. Even though he eats far too much, and goes on a rampage quite easily, Mauritius is still infatuated with Morpeko’s cuteness. ]
