for the event, can i rq zane/gn!ninja!reader with 1,3 prompts? the scenario is that zane had a nightmare where as an ice emperor he hurt reader, then woke and they comforts him

Ninjago - 1. “I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” and 3. “Please don’t go.” (Zane) (300 follower event)

Zane woke with a start, a strangled gasp escaping his throat as he launched upright. He stared at the wall with wide eyes, panting, recounting the horrific events of his nightmare.

There was one specific image that was burned into his mind: you, on the ground, hurt, trying to get away, scared—scared of him.

Perhaps the worst part of it all was the knowledge that he was the one who hurt you.

He hadn’t known you in the dream; he was acting under orders (or was it instinct? He couldn’t remember). He saw only an an enemy, something to be eradicated. You were screaming, but he wasn’t listening. If anything, he was using it as an incentive to continue. It meant you were scared, and he remembered thinking in that moment: good.

In the final moments of the dream, when you were about to die, the realization suddenly hit him: he knew you. He knew what you were to him. And suddenly your screams were the most gut-wrenching, earth-shattering noise he’d ever heard, and the sheer horror came with him into the waking world.

As his fight-or-flight response slowly deactivated itself, Zane brought his hands up to his face. He closed his eyes, burying his head in his palm. He began to quiver, finding the dread in his stomach heavy and nauseating.

He tried to tell himself it was only a dream. But this wasn’t the first time he’d dreamed of something like this. And each time he lived through the horrible scenario of taking your life (or attempting to, at the least), he became more doubtful of the true nature of the dreams. Were they only dreams, or were they memories?

He shook his head, suddenly exhausted by the effort of convincing himself. “I don’t know how much longer I can do this,” he murmured, finding his voice raspy and unstable.

There was a stirring beside him. “Do what?”

Zane’s breath hitched. He wasn’t sure if he could stand to look at you—not after that dream. So he tried to straighten himself, tensing in a half-effective attempt to stop his shaking, and said: “Nothing. I’m sorry to have woken you.”

You weren’t convinced by his tone, so you sat up, bringing yourself to his level. You touched his arm, blinking away the remaining sleep from your eyes to look at him. Much to your dismay, he turned his face away.

“Zane,” you pleaded softly, “what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing,” he insisted. It sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince you.

You moved your arm to wrap around his shoulders, leaning your head into his arm. “I’m not going to pressure you, but just know that you can tell me anything.”

His head turned a little. He wasn’t looking at you, but he wasn’t looking away, either. He was just staring at the wall opposite to your bed, a haunted look plaguing his eyes.

Now you knew it wasn’t “nothing.” You straightened yourself again, scooting to the front of Zane’s periphery so you could look him in the eye. “Zane, did something happen?”

“I—I don’t know. Did it? I can’t remember.” He was shaking his head despairingly, a wildness stirring in his demeanor. His fists were curled tight around his forearms in an anxious gesture to comfort himself. You put a hand on his knee supportively, waiting for him to elaborate a little.

“My memory is… not good. Not for that part of my life.”

“Which part?”

“When I was the—” His eyes closed in anguish while he shook his head violently, as if trying to rattle the thought out of his brain.

“The Ice Emperor,” you breathed, finishing his sentence.

Now that you understood, you rushed to comfort him. You practically flew forward to wrap him in a hug, holding his head firmly against your shoulder while your other hand rubbed his back.

“It was just a nightmare.”

“It was all a nightmare! I don’t know where the dreams end and reality begins.”

You pulled away, your eyes meeting Zane’s sympathetically. “Do you want to tell me what happened?”

Zane’s mouth opened, then shut again. He almost moved to shake his head, but instead he found his mouth opening once more, and then the words cascaded out.

He spared no details. He had attacked you, forced you to the brink of death, all without remorse. He listened to your anguished pleas and ignored them, wondering who you were to be behaving so familiarly, yet not caring. He had lifted his arm, about to make the final blow, your screech exploding in his ears and sending him flying back into the waking realm.

You let the silence hang in the air for a minute, blinking at the horrific scene Zane had painted for you. Then, seeing the anxiety spiking in him, you rushed to assure him it wasn’t real.

“Nothing of the sort happened. And nothing like that ever will happen.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Because you’re better than that. Stronger than that.”

You saw Zane’s grip on himself loosen a little. “But what if it does happen? I can’t protect you.”

“I’ll protect myself,” you quipped, flexing your biceps comically.

A little smile found Zane’s lips. He let out a sigh, releasing more of the tension in his body.

“Still,” he continued, his face twisting again, “I did do horrible things.”

“That wasn’t you. That was some twisted jerk’s pawn who was too innocent to see that what he was doing was wrong.”

Zane nodded slowly, his gaze dropping. He glanced back up at you with an outstretched arm, requesting another hug.

You decided to use it as an opportunity to drag him back into a laying position, using your weight to pull you both down flat onto the mattress. You snuggled into his side, waiting to feel him relax before you let yourself do the same. You waited, but he remained tense.

The covers were bunched up around your legs, so you sat up to grab them.

“Please don’t go,” Zane blurted, panicked.

You pressed a kiss onto his forehead as you lowered yourself back down, tucking the blankets over you both. “I’m not going anywhere,” you promised. “Never.”

At last you could see him relax fully. He’d finally internalized your words, and you could see that in the way he began to smile. He wrapped his arms around you snugly. You felt his fingers gripping the fabric of your pajamas, holding tight as if you’d slip away.

“I’m never going to let that happen,” you heard him murmur. “I’ll always protect you.”

“And I, you. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

I'M FEELING LIKE RAMBLING RIGHT NOW

Yumi x Zane are so good for me I want to cry every moment I think about them because they're fluffy and angsty... They even made me think of a rewrite because Yumi changes some concepts and arcs but I don't think I have enough energy to make it a full fic so I probably gonna stick with my little texties

THEIR BACKSTORY UUUUUUGGGGHHH IT'S HUGE LONG POST COMING

First of all, Yumi had hard time accepting her new life. She was almost ripped out of her regular life, her lovely work in the restaurant, so she could become the Dream Master... NO ONE EVEN KNEW HOW TO AWAKEN HER POWERS, Garmadon became her mentor because the previous DM was helping to keep evil inside (before the whole race of potential DMs was murdered by Chen...)

So, Yumi really had to study the magic she couldn't even understand, but she still made friends with ninja (we're not talking about Lloyd being jealous here...), she preferred spending time with them when possible. And, honestly, Zane understood Yumi quite well, she also felt distant and different as he felt once. Zane could distract Yumi from heavy thoughts with talking on unconnected topics, and Yumi did listen to him even if she couldn't understand some things. Once he even let Yumi touches his energy source, his 'heart'. Before Yumi couldn't get how a nindroid has feelings, but after that something clicked and she finally understood.

By the way, in Dream Master AU Pixal and Zane get sort of close siblings relationship, they're close like Kai and Nya are

So, after Zane's death... Yumi was struck. She was never actually ready to see people die. And of all of them, Zane... Yumi was sinking in sorrow and sake, she never got this badly drunk before. But with Garmadon's help she recovered and started to take care after Titanium Ninja Statue (HOW DID IT GET SO DIRTY)

During the whole Tournament she sticks with Nya and she's also very happy to see Zane alive again (and I like to think about "wait Pixal is in your head now???" moment)... And after a happy reunion a tragedy happens, Garmadon's sacrifice, which strikes Yumi even more :) now she's shocked and in grief, she almost closes from everyone.

It's where her Dream Powers start working. She gets some visions about sakura blooms, pink mist and wonderful peaceful land... She loses control of her sleep, she dreamwalks and gets a hypersomnia. It scares Yumi and she tries her best not to sleep anymore even if it's harmful. Everyone is quite worried about her, but Zane is the one who sees more than just a sleepyhead. They still have quite a connection, and Yumi really accepts help only from Zane, because she doesn't want to disturb anyone with her problems but Zane insists.

Once the situation stabilized and Yumi sighed with relief... Visions get worse. She sees Garmadon in her dreams. And the worst thing iss the start of derealization. Dreams seem real, Garmadon is alive there, and reality hurts a lot... So Yumi balances between two worlds without anybody knowing before she decides to choose the Dream as the only reality. She puts the whole New Ninjago City asleep to protect and give the sweetest of dreams. Zane returns from a mission and discovers it so he has to save the day. He convinces Yumi that running away is not a solution, that life may be dangerous but it gives a lot of good moments, that pain will go away eventually. That's how Zane saved Ninjago (again) and helped Yumi to release her True Potential.

I call them Hibernation, because this word's both connected with computer hibernation and animal hibernation.

After that these two don't really have arcs together, they're still close, but often get separated by circumstances. They become a pair after s7, when Yumi needs to help Lloyd with leadership and Zane helps her handle Wu's disappearance without falling again. That's when they realize they really love and care about each other.

OH, BUT FROM S8-S9 THE FUN BEGINS. Because, oh well, Zane and Mr. E confrontation is not enough, ALL THE NINJA DISAPPEAR, ASSUMED DEAD. And also Yumi is kinda traumatized by resurrected Garmadon, she can't even use her Dream powers because she was corrupted by his Destruction. It definitely left a scar...

Okay, I lied, the arc I'm gonna talk about is MUCH WORSE. Ice Emperor. First of all, Yumi had similar dream to Zane's, but she didn't remember it in the moment. In Dream Master AU Aspheera and Zane made a blow at the same time, so Aspheera got frozen, but Zane was sent to the Neverrealm. Yumi was shocked and terrified again... But Aspheera made a second attempt, and that time it was Yumi who pushed Wu away and got struck.

Seconds made difference, and Yumi arrived a week later than Zane. The everlasting winter had already began. At first she was almost crying because no one could help her to find Zane, but then she met the Ice Emperor. That was the period when he was destroying villages by himself to threaten people... Yumi recognized Zane immediately, but he didn't. Yumi had to ran away, but from that moment she promised to save Zane. For Ice Emperor, though, she became a Pink Witch.

They were meeting in different places, and Yumi always tried her best to touch Zane, to use Dream powers on him and make him remember, but with no success. Ice Emperor protected himself, but couldn't help to wait for a new fight, he saw something attractive in their rivalry. Yumi was hiding in villages, where people believed that this girl could save the world.

But Vex (who was absolutely raged by the situation with Pink Witch, because Ice Emperor stopped listening to him) used Yumi's desire to save everybody against her. Vex showed up and warned that if Pink Witch doesn't give in, the whole village will be (not frozen, but) murdered violently. Yumi agreed to save people. Of course after that the village was frozen.

In Ice Palace Yumi got her powers blocked with shackles and stood right in front of Ice Emperor. Vex was talking about execution of Pink Witch, but Ice Emperor made him go away so he could have a moment with this rebel in private. He was watching at Yumi closely and coldly, and Yumi was looking back with tears in her eyes. She was defeated. She failed. She couldn't save Zane anymore. And Ice Emperor liked her fear (he confused sorrow with). He sentenced Yumi to freezing in ice. Yumi only smiled and closed her eyes before falling asleep for 60 long years full of pain. To Vex' discontent, Ice Emperor ordered to leave her in the throne room as a trophy.

After Zane regained his memories and everyone got back in Ninjago, Yumi and Zane needed a therapy. They felt guilty... And anxious. They were too scared to leave each other, they experienced panic attacks whenever one couldn't feel other's presence. Yumi could stay awake for weeks and sleep for days, and Zane was always comfort ing her when she had nightmares. And Yumi never left Zane with his terrible thoughts, always here to say everything's alright, she's okay, she's safe. They were also so touch-starved that Yumi used to climb on Zane like coala and that's how they were moving between rooms.

Ninjago Rarepair Week, Day 2 - Nicknames

"Hey sweetie," Yumi hangs on Zane's shoulder with a sly smile. "Have you heard about a new club?"

"Yes, I have. And no, I don't want to bring you there."

Yumi's expression quickly changes to surprised and offended. She grabs Zane's head and makes him look directly at her.

"But honey, I want to check its milkshakes!"

"Don't lie to me, that's not the only reason," Zane refuses strictly. Yumi smiles awkwardly, trying to look innocent.

"Well... I also wanna have a good time with my nindroboy..."

Zane can't hold back a smile. Yumi's nicknames are pretty, but they don't help her to get everything she wants. This secret weapon isn't even a weapon, it's a sign of a great need.

"Can we wait until it gets more reviews?" Zane asks kindly. "So we make sure it's really nice. I don't want you to get sick after drinks, my beloved."

Yumi slightly turns red. Even though she calls Zane nicknames, it's easy to embarrass her with a simple one.

"Fine... You get the point..."

Zane kisses her forehead gently as Yumi blushes more. He won this round.

Ninjago Rarepair Week, Day 1 - Date night

Zane hears and feels how Yumi starts moving under the blanket. It takes her a minute to sit down and open one eye.

"Good morning, Zane..." Yumi yawns.

"Good morning," Zane smiles. He's glad to greet her every time she wakes up after a long sleep. "It's 2:43 AM, actually."

"Oh, I see," Yumi chuckles. "And how long was this sleep?"

"You've been sleeping for 67 hours. Good news, it's less than the last time! I guess you're schedule is stabilizing."

Yumi sighs with relief, puts the blanket on her shoulders and hugs Zane from behind. She presses her cheek against his metal neck and touches his face gently.

"You were looking after me, weren't you?" she asks quietly.

"Of course I was."

After their return from the Never-realm, Zane can't stop keeping an eye on Yumi. Especially when she is asleep. He spends days close to her to make sure she's fine, to calm her down if necessary. He wants to protect her after what he did in the Never-realm. Maybe, that's his way to say 'sorry'.

"Do you need anything?" Zane asks. "We can go get you a snack. You must be hungry."

Yumi hugs Zane tighter, holding him close with her whole body.

"All I need is you right now..." she mumbles. It seems she hasn't quite woken up yet. Zane smiles and pats her head.

"Okay, I'm not going anywhere."

Occasionally, Yumi and Zane go to a bar to celebrate some events. Well, Yumi celebrates, and Zane makes sure that she doesn't drink too much.

Yumi loves good sake. And good sake is drunk cooled.

So, Yumi Mirackel is an Elemental Master of Dream. That means a lot of things actually (because I'm still not sure about it lol)

Yumi can affect people's dreams (in both meanings) and manipulate their actions a bit, however, she's VERY BAD at combat and she's afraid of hurting someone. She's just a healer. Yumi is a cook in a little restaurant and likes to learn to dance with the help of videos from the Internet.

Oh and also I ship her with Zane because Zane is my beloved
