✅Highland Park is One of the more remote distilleries in Scotland, located in the Orkney Island, It has been making whisky for over 200 years. It is one of the few distilleries to malt their own barley on a traditional malting floor, handing turning their malt which brings a more balanced flavour and by using their local peat from Orkney they bring a unique heather character to their whisky. The Highland Park 18 Years is bottled at 43% ABV and is aged in nearly half re-fill sherry from Spain 🇪🇸 and half first-fill bourbon ✨Tasting 📝: 🥃 Aroma: Dried fruit, sherry notes, sweet malt, honey, heather & floral peat and a nice candied orange peel. 👍 🥃 Taste / Palate: A Citrus note followed by honey, toffee, dried fruit, sweet peat and a herbal note. Highland Park 18 Year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, also known as “Viking Pride”.

Gentle sherried fruits, dark fruits, gentle peat, heathery peat, caramel, oak, cherries, elegant and so well balanced and complex. Integrity whisky all the way. 

An aptly named single malt, 18 Year Old Viking Pride won the Chairman’s Award in the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2018 and 2019 and owes everything to our 5 keystones of production that we’ve honoured for over 220 years.

The 12 and 18 year old #HighlandPark are solid whiskies. Both drams have smoke floating throughout it. The 12 is creamier with fruity citrus sweetness while the 18 leans more towards the toffee sweetneas. #tbt to #bangkok. A time when travel was a matter of booking a flight! The aged statement expressions by #highlandpark have always been a stand out for me. Its when they start doing gymicky viking themed #whiskies they start to lose me. Both these have a citrusy and sweet #peat base. There is no doubt the sweetness is stronger in the 18 with espresso notes thrown in for good measure. ✅ The Highland Park 15 was first introduced in 2003 as a travel-exclusive bottling, but it was later made a part of their year-round standard range. Unfortunately last year Highland Park decided to discontinue the HP15 in order to free up stocks to go towards its older bottling as well as their new NAS releases. The HP15 is aged primarily in American ex-Oloroso sherry casks, and most of those are refill casks. This has a profound impact on the whisky, as we shall see. ✅The Highland Park 25 Years old in review today is the pre-2012 discontinued version, it is bottled at 48.1%ABV and 50% of the casks used to make this Single malt whisky are First fill Spanish sherry oak. The new and current version is bottled at 45.7%ABV and is lighter in color which suggests less use of the first fill Spanish sherry oak. ✨Tasting 📝: 🥃 Aroma: Rich, Christmas cake, brown sugar, butter toffee, caramel, honey, sherry (oloroso), milk chocolate, cinnamon, nuts, slight peat in the background.😀 🥃 Taste / Palate: full, sweet Juicy fruits, toffee, butterscotch, dark chocolate, sherry, oak, leather, gentle peat smoke.👊 🥃 Finish: Very Long with dominant dark fruits and light smoke that add to the complexity.👌 ✨Conclusion: This is a whisky with a bold character not for the newbies, it needs a developed palate to appreciate its complexity. For me, this HP25 deserves a place in my top 10 list.
