Even those who have never talked to Himari can tell you one thing about her: she’s shy. It’s her most obvious characteristic. When asked one simple question by someone she doesn’t know well, she’s immediately stuttering and flustered. So outside of her KiraPati group, she doesn’t have any other friends. Or so she thought.

Himari strolled through the market, reading through her notebook. She was given the task of retrieving some ingredients for mochi. Ichika had a flash, so of course, her needs had to be met to be able to make the sweet she wanted.

“Arisugawa!” A familiar voice started her, nearly making her drop the book. Turning around, she saw that it was you. You jogged towards her, waving.

“O-oh, (last name). Hi.” She greeted.

“You doing some shopping?” You asked, catching your breath and pointing to the tote bag she had over her arm.

“Oh, uh, yeah. Just getting some ingredients for Ichika.”

You chuckled. “That Usami’s always making something, huh?”

Himari laughed a little too, easing out of her shyness a bit. “Yeah. She had another one of her ‘flashes’.”

“That definitely sounds like her. But anyway, I came here to ask you something.”

Her nervousness came right back, and she began twiddling her fingers. “Me? W-what is it?”

“There’s this new bakery that opened at the zoo the next town over. I was going to go with another friend tomorrow, but they had to cancel. So I wanted to ask if you would like to go with me?” As you spoke, you pulled out a small leaflet that displayed the place you were talking about.

Himari read the paper, clearly interested. The bakery sold cute foods based off of the zoo animals. It reminded her of the KiraPati.

“Really? You wanna go with me?” She asked, flustered.

“Yeah! Why wouldn’t I? And I know you really like sweets, and know a lot about them. You’re always saying ‘sweets are science’, right?” You gestured to her notebook, which was filled with her baking knowledge.

“Yeah. Okay, I’ll go! Thank you so much, (last name)!” Himari bowed in great appreciation.

“Great! Meet me at the bus stop at 10 tomorrow morning. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’ll be worth it. Bye, Arisugawa!” You left with a wave.

“O-okay! Bye!” She waved back.

She still couldn’t believe what just happened. You really invited her to go someplace fun with you. She never wouldn’t guessed she was even an option to think about. Sure, the two of you talked, but she had no idea you considered her as more than an acquaintance. The more she thought about it, the more excited and nervous she got.

(The Next Morning)

Due to her overwhelming emotions, Himari didn’t sleep much. But she was just fine. She was so excited, it produced enough energy for her to get through the day. She had even made sure to arrive fifteen minutes early, just in case.

Just a few minutes before the bus was due to arrive, you met her at the stop. “Morning, Arisugawa!”

“M-morning!” Himari practically squeaked. She may have prepared herself, but it was still so nerve racking to be going somewhere alone with a new friend.

“Were you waiting long? Sorry if you were!” You apologized.

“Oh, no! It’s okay! I just decided to come early.” She assured you.

“Oh, good.” You sighed.

Not long later, the bus arrived. The two of you got on, taking your seats in the back. It was pretty empty, to which the antisocial Himari was glad about.

You opened up the leaflet you brought, and held it up between the two of you. “So, what are you thinking of getting?” You asked.

“All of it looks so cute, but I really wanna try the giraffe purin.” She pointed to the picture of the sweet.

“So, you like purin?” You asked, curious.

“Yeah! It’s one of my favorites. Did you know that it’s called something else in different parts of the world?” Himari said.

“Oh, really?”

“Yeah. The word ‘purin’ comes from the English word ‘pudding’. But in places outside Japan they call purin ‘custard pudding’, as just regular pudding is something different. Also-“ She suddenly stops, as if realizing something.

“What’s wrong?” You asked.

“Sorry. I guess you don’t want to hear all that…” She blushed, looking down at her lap in embarrassment.

“No, I do! You seem to know a lot about purin, so tell me! I still haven’t decided what to get yet, so maybe you’ll convince me.” You tilted your head down a bit, trying to meet her eyes.

Himari looked back up at you, clearly a bit surprised. A gentle smile formed on her face. “Okay…”

A with that, she continued her tangent. She went on to not only tell you about purin, but every other sweet on the menu as well. It was as if she became some sort of scientist. You knew she was smart when it came to that stuff, but you had no idea just how informed she was.

Her happiness and excitement were so apparent while she talked. You could tell that the science behind sweets was her favorite thing in the whole world. Even as the bus made its occasional stops, picking up more people, she never took breaks until she was done.

Once she had gone through every sweet on the menu, she finished her tangent. She became embarrassed once again, but felt reassured once she noticed your face was clearly not one of annoyance.

“You’re so smart, Himari! You could totally be a ‘sweets scientist’ or something in the future!” You admired.

“You really think I could? Wait, did you just call me by my first name?” She realized.

“Oh, I guess I did. Is that okay?” You asked.

“Y-yeah! I just… wasn’t sure you saw me as that good of a friend yet.”

“Of course I do! You’re so cool!”

Himari blushed at the compliment. “Thanks… (name).” She decided to take the risk, and also call you by your first name. When you gave her a smile, she knew it was okay.

The bus screeched to a stop, and the two to you looked out the window. Neither of you had realized just how much time had passed. You had arrived at the zoo.

“Let’s go!” You said, standing up. “I wanna try that purin!”

“Me too!” Himari stood as well, and you both exited the bus.

“I was a bit worried that we’d get bored during the drive here. But you turned it into something interesting.” You lightly elbowed her arm.

Himari giggled, getting flustered again. She was worried that you’d find her strange after info dumping to you like that. But it seemed like that only made you think better of her.

Gently grabbing hold of your sleeve, she began leading the way. “C’mon, (name)!”

The two of you dashed through the zoo, eager to try the giraffe purin. You’d later find that the more you know about the science behind sweets, the better they taste. And it’s all thanks to your friend, Himari.

~ Ichika is a sweet girl. She’s quick to trust and befriend. So before she even knew you were a villain, she was already talking to you and gifting you treats she made herself. Once she did find out, she felt betrayed. Not only are you working to take the kirakiraru out of sweets, but the ones she made you probably never got eaten. It made her disappointed and sad. Even so, she didn’t stop being your friend. She believed you just needed convincing that sweets are worth eating!

~ Ichika’s only hobby is baking. It’s her life. She puts everything she has into her sweets. It’s her way to get through to people. So with you, it’s no different. She doesn’t want you to take the kirakiraru out of sweets, so she works hard to make something that you’ll like. No matter how many times she fails, her determination never falters.

~ Ichika often forgets that you’re a villain. You’re so kind and caring, it’s impossible to think you’d be working towards such a terrible goal just by looking at you. And even though she knows what you’re doing, it often slips her mind. That is, until her teammates remind her.

~Himari Arisugawa/Cure Custard~

~ Himari is a very shy girl. So it takes her a while to warm up to people. But with your kindness and sunshine aura, she bonded with you much quicker. However, once she found out you’re a villain, that knocked you right back down to square one. She was extremely disappointed in you. And she even became scared of you.

~ But since Ichika continued being your friend, she couldn’t really avoid you. She even found herself helping make sweets for you. And since she was baking with Ichika, she’d hear all about how you “weren’t all bad”. Her opinion of you began to change once again when started believing Ichika’s words.

~ Like Ichika, Himari wants to at least try to get you to like sweets. But instead of making the physical product, she takes a more scientific approach. She rambles on and on about the chemistry of sweets, and how important it is to follow the recipes exactly in order to be successful. She hopes the science will help you understand how cool sweets are!

~Aoi Tategami/Cure Gelato~

~ Aoi was one of the angriest after finding out you’re a villain. The main reason she was upset was because you gained the trust of everyone. You managed to trick them into believing you’re a good person, whether that was your intention or not. She hates being tricked, so that really made her upset.

~ Even so, she still desires to help you switch sides. So when the others begin their experiments with sweets, she’s more than happy to join in. And she always makes sure you actually try them, and don’t just throw them away or take the kirakiraru.

~ Your warm, sunshine demeanor mixed with her cool aura makes for an interesting friendship. Anyone who sees the two of you hanging out would agree. It somehow works out so well, despite you being so different. Even more so, considering you’re on different sides of the battlefield.

~Yukari Kotozume/Cure Macaron~

~ Yukari is all about thrills. So she’ll do pretty much anything as long as it brings her entertainment. So when she found out exactly what you are, she didn’t care much. After all, it made things all the more interesting. It made those who did care quite upset at her. But she just continued to do her own thing.

~ You were already a bit fascinating to her. Just the way that your kindness seemed to reach no limit, and that you could easily make friends with anyone was enough to make her hang around you. But when another layer of your personality and life revealed itself, she became more and more curious.

~ Yukari isn’t too interested in trying to reform you like the others. She knows it would be a good thing, but she’d rather leave all the work to them. But something she won’t tell her friends is that she believes you have the ability to change all on your own. Someone like you is already out of place in your current position. So she thinks it’s only a matter of time you find where you truly belong. But that’s something you need to figure out yourself.

~Akira Kenjou/Cure Chocolat~

~ While Akira was disappointed to find that you’re a villain, she didn’t let that get in the way of your friendship. She’s very loyal to the ones she cares about, so something like that won’t sway how she feels about you. Besides, to her, you’re still a good person. You’re just making a bad decision.

~ She really doesn’t treat you any different afterwards. Since Akira could never find it in herself to be impolite, she never brings up your… job. Besides, she doesn’t want to make things tense in the group. She really is a peace maker.

~ Even so, she does try little things here and there to hopefully push you in the right direction. For example, she participates in Ichika’s plan to bake her way into reforming you. But she also shows you around town, and the citizens’ love for sweets. She figured that since you’re so kind, and love seeing others happy, that she’d show you how you shouldn’t take their happiness away.

~Ciel Kirahoshi/Cure Parfait~

~ Ciel was definitely the most angry when she found out about you being a villain. Not only is she a professional patisserie, but she’s a fairy too. So she took it extremely personal. She forbid you from coming near her or her sweets. And she refused to talk to you for a good while. It hurt her, because you were such a kind friend.

~ Even with boundaries in place, she still had to deal with your presence, since you continued to hang out with her other friends. But you didn’t interact with her, so she didn’t mind too much. But as time went on, she began missing you. Despite stealing kirakiraru, you’re so kind and caring. It’s hard not to like you.

~ As more time went on, the space between the two of you grew smaller and smaller. And this all happened without Ciel noticing. She found herself acting like your friend again, and she was enjoying it. Anytime someone pointed it out, she’d aggressively deny it. But she did eventually grow to realize her feelings.

~ For many things, Ichika isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. She’s not great at school, and she messes up on recipes regularly. So if you expected her to be able to read sarcasm well, your expectations are too high.

~ It’s a near daily occurrence that you spout your typical sarcastic remarks, and she’ll look at you with a confused, or even concerned expression. Whether you clarify that you’re being unserious or not is up to you. Though, Aoi or Akira will if you don’t.

~ You’d think that over time, Ichika would learn to recognize when you’re being genuine or not. And actually, you’d be correct. Though, it’d take a while. But eventually, she’ll start asking whether or not you’re being sarcastic before jumping to conclusions. She gets way too proud of herself when she’s correct.

~Himari Arisugawa~

~ Himari’s the smart one in the friend group. Even so, she’s extremely socially awkward, and isn’t great at reading the room, or people for that matter. So misunderstandings regarding your sarcasm happen more than you’d think with her.

~ Most of the time, this simply results in her thinking of you as a bit strange. But if you tend to target others with your remarks, she could start to think you’re being intentionally unkind. She’s a sensitive girl, due to her history of being a bit of an outcast. So you may accidentally end up hurting her feelings. But as long as you clarify that you were just being sarcastic, everything should be fine.

~ Like Ichika, Himari also grows to get used to your sarcasm over time. Though, she’s a much faster learner. While she still occasionally feels some uncertainty, she can mostly tell when you’re being serious or not pretty easily.

~Aoi Tategami~

~ Aoi indulges in sarcasm herself at times! So not only does she understand you, but she finds you funny too! Together, you’re undoubtedly the most sarcastic of your entire friend group.

~ While she knows she shouldn’t, she can’t help but find it funny when others can’t read your derision. The fact that they think you’re actually being serious makes her laugh. She often puts off explaining to them for a little bit, just to watch them sit in their confusion and concern.

~ In the end though, she does assure them you’re being satire. But she can’t not poke a little fun at them for not being able to tell. She would teach them how, but there’s no way she’d go without seeing their flabbergasted faces again.

~Yukari Kotozume~

~ Yukari’s a smart girl. So there’s no question in whether or not she can read your sarcasm. She can, and she doesn’t bat an eye at it. It doesn’t offend her, or affect her in any way for that matter.

~ However, the fact that it affects others is where she finds interest. The way some people in your friend group react brings her entertainment. Especially when they’re shocked; thinking you’re being serious. She can’t help but laugh, ignoring them when they ask why.

~ Your sassy, satire comments and responses are one of her favorite things about you. It brings more fun into her days, which Yukari yearns for. So when others may scold you, or express annoyance for your ways, she’s a person you can always count on for wanting you to remain yourself. Though, don’t expect her to say that out loud.

~Akira Kenjou~

~ Akira can read sarcasm just fine. So she has no trouble when it comes to you. She usually just chuckles as a reaction, but occasionally, she may joke back.

~ Though, a problem arises when she realizes that not everyone finds it as easy as she does to tell if you’re being serious or not. She doesn’t like seeing others in any kind of distress, so seeing them confused or concerned while not knowing you’re joking makes her anxious.

~ To solve this, Akira’s always the one to confirm to the others that you’re being sarcastic. She does ask you to take it down a notch on occasion, though it’s not easy to change such a significant part about you. So while it can get exhausting, she just continues to be your “interpreter”.

~Ciel Kirahoshi~

~ Ciel can read sarcasm just fine. She’s pretty intelligent, so she doesn’t think twice about your seriousness. Most of the time, she’ll just brush off whatever you said. There’s no use in giving a reaction if you weren’t being sincere.

~ However, over time, she started to become more and more annoyed. Sure, a little sarcasm never hurt anyone. But your comments and responses are consistent. She grew very tired of them.

~ Of course, asking you to stop falls on deaf ears. So she learns to just deal with it on her own. But it clearly affects her mood. On occasion, she kicks you out of the kitchen for being too much for her to handle.
