Chef @ilhann_erkek established The Smokehouse Restaurant at Antrim 1844 as a dining destination even for those not staying at the hotel. In recent years, The Smokehouse Restaurant has racked up the following accolades: 🏆 Historic Hotels of America 2019 Best Historic Restaurant 🏆 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice 2020 Best Hotel Restaurant Pictured here is our meal at The Smokehouse Restaurant. {The camera gets to eat first. 😝📸} While I believe there is an a la carte option, we ordered from the Chef’s menu: Pork Belly (his) and Crab Cake (mine) appetizers, Grilled Little Gem Salad (his) and Mushroom Soup (mine), and Beef Short Rib (his) and Branzino (mine) as the main. Chef Erkek also sent a crab 🦀 amuse busche (#wheninMaryland), seared duck, and baked brie with berry compote and candied walnuts our way. [interiors and details at Antrim 1844] While I always fall in love with historic exteriors, one of my (formerly) biggest secrets is that I don’t typically have as much enthusiasm for historic interiors. This is for one of two reasons: either poorly thought out and permanent modernizations are executed or a lack of upkeep. The latter can be remediated which is what the owners of Antrim 1844 pursued upon acquisition of the property.
