Hey Galaxy!
I'm Deena Tharen, reaching out with an (overdue) update I owe you all. First and foremost, let me extend my deepest apologies for my prolonged absence over the past few months. Many of you have reached out, expressing concern and curiosity about my sudden disappearance, and for that, I am truly grateful.
I'm happy and healthy.
The galaxy, as we know, is a place of ceaseless activity and unexpected events. As a journalist committed to bringing you the most accurate and timely news, I found myself swept into a whirlwind of unforeseen circumstances that demanded my immediate and full attention. Without delving into too many specifics, let's just say that the stories I was pursuing took me into the far reaches of the Outer Rim and into complex situations that required extensive time and focus to navigate.
During this period, I faced numerous challenges and witnessed events that reaffirmed my dedication to this profession. Every encounter, every story, and every moment away from the Holonet has strengthened my resolve to continue delivering the news that matters most to you, my valued audience.
I want to reassure you all that my commitment to Holonet reporting remains as strong as ever. The last few months have provided me with a wealth of experiences and stories that I am eager to share with you. My absence has been a period of growth, reflection, and above all, a renewed dedication to the truth.
As I prepare to return to the Holonet, I am filled with a profound sense of excitement and anticipation. There are so many stories yet to be told, and I am eager to once again be the voice that brings them to you. Your unwavering support has been a treasured and appreciated source of encouragement throughout this time, and I am deeply grateful for your patience and understanding.
Expect to see me back on the Holonet soon, delivering the news with the same passion and integrity you have come to rely on.
Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to reconnecting with all of you very soon.
May the Force be with you,
Deena Tharen, Holonet News.

She couldn't help but notice Rush's attempt to brush aside her crimson bangs, the subtle pose, and the laughter that followed. It brought a small smile to Deena's face, a hint of nostalgia mixing with the present moment. The Jedi Order, the Clone Wars, the hopes and dreams that had been shattered by the rise of the Empire. It felt like a lifetime ago, and yet the memories still lingered, bittersweet.
"Lara Tamsen," Deena repeated, with a nod of acceptance, her voice enviably smooth and completely natural as she instantly committed the alias to memory, a skill garnered through the years of working with news-sources who by request or by necessity asked for their true identity to remain anonymous. Even so, it never hurt to build an additional layer of deception for any unwelcome listening ears, to truly live her cover. "Huh," She noted after a moment's pause, "Tamsen? Don't tell me you actually got married to that laserbrain? Oh stars, you're so predictable! I knew you'd go off the rails without me. I knew it! Let me guess, you went and bought that run-down freighter from that dodgy Toydarian too, didn't you? Unbelievable."
She shook her head in mock offense. "I can't, I just can't with you sometimes, Lara. Ugh. If we don't get some Caf inside me I'm gonna have a full-on reactor meltdown." She turned on heels, and nodded down the walkway. "Come on, I know just the place."
The grin faltered ever so slightly as Rush realised the charm wasn't as disarming as she thought. Deena was pissed. Rightly so though. She'd just found a long-thought-dead friend standing in a tram station, staring blankly at a very confusing time-table, surrounded by Imperials who'd gladly hang her where she stood if they knew her true identity. So yeah, the rage was understandable. At least it was coming from a place of care. This time.Invincible? Huh. That word takes on a different meaning for someone who's come back from death's door. Does it loose value? Or does it increase? Rush was still yet to figure it out. Her time in limbo, laying bloodied on the floor of the Jedi Temple hadn't exactly helped, but after what seemed like a lifetime of fighting and, somehow, surviving, her perception of her mortality had grown fairly twisted. It's a good thing Deena's question was rhetorical, because Rush wasn't sure she had an answer.
The grin softened to a smile. A more genuine, warm one. One belonging to someone who was genuinely happy to meet an old face. The earlier fear had faded, satisfied that the reporter wasn't about to throw her under the holo-tram, Rush's entire body relaxed ever so slightly, no longer ready to strike first should Deena try anything. Years operating alone had left her very distrustful of others. Things like Order 66 will give a person trust issues, apparently. The studying one-over given wasn't unnoticed by the former Jedi. Deena was most definitely trying to visually catch up on her old friend's new look- which of course, meant Rush had to pose ever so subtly. Hand on hip, weight on one leg, always accentuates the hips- though they did a good job of accentuating themselves these days with the extra padding that had made itself at home since she'd slowed down some from her wartime days. A quick attempt to brush some crimson bangs out of her face- only for it to fail and have more fall in the way drew small huff of laughter from the bounty hunter. If one thing hadn't changed, it was certainly her voluminous, unnecessarily long mane. Except now a new color! Always wanted to try.
Nodding in agreeance to the new location, she realised Deena didn't know her new identity, Rush decided it might be best to quickly introduce her alias. The Imps liked a good, cohesive story when they asked for one, so Deena being up to speed would only help more should they be stopped for any reason on the way to this 'less claustrophobic' space. I mean, the alcove was kinda cosy- very 'secret romance'. "It's good to see you too. It's Lara, by the way. Lara Tamsen."

I stood before the mirror, taking in my dishevelled appearance, my reflection a stark contrast to the composed and polished image that I strive to present to the public. My tussled hair frames my face, accentuating the exhaustion etched into my weary eyes. I trace my finger over the Taungsdrop tattoo beneath my eye, usually hidden beneath layers of makeup, now visible for the galaxy to see. A lonely symbol standing in permanent vigil over a life I once knew, a life that felt more and more like a distant memory.
I couldn't help but wonder how I had gotten here, what choices I had made that had led me down this path...
As I looked more closely at my reflection, clad in a tailored jacket made from Corellian leather that I once would never have dreamed of being able to afford, a sense of despair and disdain washed over me. The jacket, once a symbol of rebellion and individuality, now felt like a mere facade. It reminded me of the people I've encountered in the dark underbelly of society—the men and women I've seen, troubled and broken, who wore similar -albeit cheaper- jackets as armour against a harsh reality.
It's funny how appearances can be deceiving, isn't it? On the outside, I portray an image of success and influence, a renowned figure in the Galactic Empire. But deep down, I feel a void, a hollowness that no amount of drink or material comfort can fill.
I think about the life I used to have, the friends I've lost along the way. Jedi like Rush Darkburst, fellow journalists like Alsaine Langley, and even the steadfast Clone Captain Fordo. They would never recognize the person I've become, entangled in this web of lies and oppression.
Kriff, how did it come to this? Sacrificing my principles, suppressing my true self, all for the sake of power and prestige. The woman staring back at me in the mirror feels like a stranger, a distorted reflection of the person I once was.
I close my eyes, and the memories flood my mind like a swirling nebula of emotions. I can almost hear the joyful laughter, feel the warmth of companionship that filled those winter festival nights. Gathered around a table at the Tapecafe, we shared jokes that echoed through the crowded space, blending with the clinking of glasses and the muffled hum of conversations.
Those moments were a respite from the chaos of our lives, a sanctuary of shared stories and camaraderie. The laughter, the camaraderie, the genuine connection that bound us together, it's something I yearn for with an ache in my heart.
I would trade every last credit I have for just one more hour in the embrace of those cherished moments. To sit once again at that familiar table, surrounded by friends, exchanging banter and weaving tales that defy the boundaries of reality.
But time has woven its threads, and circumstances have scattered us like stardust across the galaxy. Duty called, ambitions beckoned, and we pursued our separate paths. The winter festivals have long since lost their magic, replaced by the weight of responsibility and the relentless march of time.
I can't help but grapple with the reality of my role in this vast Imperial machinery, the cog that spins in synchrony with Palpatine's grand design. Do my friends see me as a true believer in this regime? Are their thoughts clouded by the perception that I have fully embraced the ideals of the Empire?
I wonder if they know the turmoil that churns within me, the constant battle between duty and personal convictions. They have witnessed me reporting the Empire's triumphs and spreading its narratives, but do they see the flicker of doubt, the questioning that lingers behind my eyes?
I often contemplate what they would say if they could see the truth of my inner struggle. Would they understand that my position grants me access, a chance to glean information and potentially make a difference?

BATTLEFRONT II FEATURETTE:
Audiences know actor Megan Boone from her gripping portrayal of imperilled Holonet Reporter Deena Tharen in Star Wars: Holonet. Now, they can play as her, in Star Wars Battlefront II.
"Deena is a character that's very close to my heart, and seeing her in Battlefront II, stepping into a more action-oriented role, it's an exciting shift! It's a side of her that viewers of the Holonet series get glimpses of, but now players will get to explore her abilities and resilience on a whole new level.
Deena's journey has always been one of resilience and courage. She starts as a dedicated Holonet reporter, committed to uncovering the truth in a galaxy where doing so can be a death sentence. As the series progresses, the stakes become higher, not just for the galaxy but for Deena personally. We see her being targeted by the Empire, losing loved ones, and having to make choices that push her far beyond her comfort zone.
This evolution is a testament to her strength and her belief in fighting for what's right, even when it's dangerous. Her growth into someone who can handle a blaster as deftly as she handles her words was gradual but necessary, showing that in the face of tyranny, even those who aren't born warriors can become heroes.
Deena's intelligence and tenacity are her core traits, and her determination is reflected in how she faces challenges head-on, whether it's navigating through warzones to get her story or standing her ground in a firefight.
Whilst the series has shown Deena wielding a blaster occasionally, we're about to see a lot more of that in Battlefront II. Battlefront really showcases a side of Deena that we've only begun to scratch the surface of in the series. It's a glimpse into a path she could have taken had certain events played out differently. The game propels her into the action-hero role that her journey hints at, giving players the chance to explore her combat skills and strategic mind in a direct, hands-on way.
In the series, Deena's encounters with danger are often circumstantial, a result of her relentless pursuit of the truth. In Battlefront II, we see what happens when she takes this fight to the next level, actively engaging in battles against the Empire. It's a reflection of her growth and her ability to stand up as a fighter in her own right, showcasing how the challenges she's faced have prepared her for this moment."

Holonet Exposé - Beware the Pyke Caf: A Risky Brew from the Shadows of Kessel.
In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that the notorious Pyke Syndicate, known for its criminal activities across the galaxy, has been clandestinely exporting a potent and mysterious Caf blend to the heart of the galaxy - Coruscant. Rumors suggest that the Caf blend, manufactured on Kessel, is cut in part with small quantities of spice, and other perfectly legal but nevertheless adrenergic substances. Ever the intrepid adventurer, armed with nothing but an anonymous tip and a thirst for the truth, I delved into the murky world of Coruscant's lower levels to uncover the truth behind this dangerous Caf, and my experience serves as a stark warning to all potential consumers. Venturing into dimly lit alleys and shabby cantinas, I trudged through the shadows of the city, mingling with the Pyke's unwitting patrons, each whispering their untold tale of their encounter with the potent brew. The Pyke Caf, as I discovered, is an exceptionally potent blend, far beyond the usual Caf available on legitimate markets. As I sat in that grimy Tapcafe, its discoloured walls as run-down as the clientele, staring down a cup of the infamous Caf, the rich aroma and dark allure were undeniable, drawing me in with an irresistible temptation. Without any knowledge of its source or contents, I proceeded to sample the Caf - an action I now deeply regret. Within moments of sipping the illicit brew, an intense rush of energy surged through my veins. My heart raced, and my mind became a whirlwind of thoughts, almost as if I had tapped into the Force itself. However, this euphoria came at a steep cost. As the minutes turned into hours, the initial buzz transformed into a jittery, almost frenetic state. My hands trembled, and my senses became hypersensitive to the point of discomfort. I found it difficult to focus, my thoughts racing uncontrollably, and my anxiety soaring to unbearable levels. Moreover, the Pyke Caf wreaked havoc on my sleep cycle. I remained wide awake throughout the next two nights, restlessly tossing and turning as my mind refused to shut down. The lack of sleep left me drained and irritable in the days that followed, struggling to concentrate on even the simplest tasks. While the experience may have given me a glimpse into the potent power of the Pyke Caf, it also served as a stark warning. Consuming such a volatile blend without proper knowledge or supervision poses significant risks to one's physical and mental well-being. The unregulated and uncertain nature of the black market leaves users vulnerable to potential adulterants and contaminants, further compounding the dangers. I cannot stress enough the importance of avoiding the Pyke Caf. Whilst presently still legal to consume, I urge my viewers to stick to reputable and legitimate Caf vendors who adhere to strict quality control standards. If you suspect the presence of illegal Caf blends in your vicinity, report it to the local authorities or Imperial Bureau of Standards. Let my wired experience serve as a cautionary tale. The allure of forbidden Caf may seem irresistible, but the risks far outweigh any temporary rush it provides. Stay vigilant, stay informed, and safeguard your health and well-being above all else. Deena Tharen, The Holonet News.

Welcome! I’m Essara Starr, a stellar trade attorney, alumni and former lecturer of Republic University, and you’ve just tuned into my HoloCast.
I was walking down the boulevard just yesterday, and I get stopped by an ARC Trooper. Now, this trooper, he doesn’t say a word. He just thrusts out his hand expecting me to hand over my identification. Aren’t these the troopers that are supposed to make us feel safe? Is a simple hello asking for too much from the so-called Chancellor’s finest? I don’t think so. To me, at least, this is just a basic common-sentient courtesy.
Anyway. So he looks over my documents in silence, and then after about a minute he shakes his head at me and tells me to stand aside. He doesn’t offer me a “please.” So, I explain the fact that I’m an attorney, and I have to attend court, and how it’s critical that I’m not delayed...
So what does he do next? Yeah, you guessed it! He checks me for weapons. Weapons! Don’t get me wrong I’m all for security but stop and search on our streets doesn’t seem justifiable. Besides this is the legal district not the lower levels of the city.
The point is these new investigatory powers The Chancellor has pushed through the house and the senate are wholly disproportionate to the level of threat we’re actually experiencing. The Confederacy isn’t using guerilla tactics, they’re using a droid army.
I find it quite unlikely that anyone is going to have a battle droid stuffed down their underwear. It’s ridiculous, it’s an infringement of our common rights, it’s legality is questionable and those who enforce it do nothing to seem as personable. It’s beyond rude, and the lack of empathy shown by these “cloned troopers” is frankly unacceptable.
