happy halloween!! I've been spending the past 2 weeks working on a short comic about my soriel kid and despite my best efforts it won't be done in time, so for now here's a preview 🎃

today is underswap mh's 7th anniversary today aaaand I have nothing ready for it. I am working on something but it's gonna take at least a good few weeks to finish, and with family health stuff being Very Bad I'm not in the right mental place to do another ask blog event like last year 💔
however I did have a look through the posts from that event to reminisce a little, and in the interest of doing Something today, I'm gonna just reblog a few of my favourite ask responses :'>

hi I don't know how to word this at all so apologies if it's a mess to read. I had hoped to spend this month drawing cute winter art but irl stuff happened and at this point I've been stuck in a numb limbo for days and need to get out of my brain
I'm not the type to be super open about real life, especially not on my art blog rather than my main, but where my mental state suffers obviously my productivity goes with it, and I guess I want to clarify that this isn't like my usual bouts of inactivity
so without going into much detail: basically a family member has had a lot of health issues for the past 2 years, and earlier this year some new problems started up on top of those. appointments looking into it have been months apart, so I've spent most of the year desperately hoping they wouldn't receive the diagnosis we were fearing. I'm not gonna say what it is, but there is no recovering from it and we already know exactly how bad it gets from past experience with other family members who had the same thing
then we finally had another appointment last tuesday, and I think that might've been the worst day of my life. I can't overstate how bleak and terrifying the rest of my life looks now
anyway I'm not saying I won't be drawing at all because god I need something to do to keep myself sane, but suffice to say art is probably going to be a struggle with everything going on. right now I just want to not worry about whatever I said I'd draw or feel like I have to make and just draw anything that seems fun, even if it only makes me happy for 5 seconds. hopefully that's understandable
at the very least I'm gonna try to carry on as normal and not be an emotional wreck on the internet, but I'm sorry if I'm not my usual self for a while

it's been like a month and a half since I said I was working on some big swapfell art so I should probably give an update on that huh
so uh, the short version is between giving myself a giant art piece + 12 character sheets to do and irl stress being overwhelming, I kinda just crumbled under self-imposed pressure and made very little progress in that time 💔 at this point it's gonna have to be a case of chipping away at it when I'm able rather than forcing myself to work on nothing but that, because I really don't want to get burnt out on art when both toriel week and soriel week are likely coming up in the next few weeks/months
in the meantime I just wanna draw something again, so I'll try my best to have some art to show before too long :'>

it appears a certain comic from almost 4 years ago blew up again out of nowhere overnight
and suddenly there's Quite A Few new followers and my activity page is full of some really sweet tags and I'm very overwhelmed but my day has been made ;v;💜

since the new UTDR newsletter comic gave Drunk Bun canon pronouns I went to go update my few posts about her Swap MH version, but I have a small dilemma:
personally I don't think it's implying her name is Bunny given that the next profile has a line referring to her as 'the Bunny', but even so I'm not sure if I should just change her name anyway and give up my headcanon name Harebrain?
it's not a big deal for me to change but input would be appreciated nonetheless ✨

for lack of any art to post for a little while, here's the butterscotch cinnamon pie I made for my birthday 🎉✨
(it is definitely not neat but it's only the 2nd time I've ever made pastry, plus it has to be gluten-free so it's gonna have texture issues)
I was gonna have a photo of a single slice too but I. did not realise the filling hadn't fully set until I took a slice and then very quickly had to put it back in place when the middle started to sink hgdsjkfh
but I at least broke off some pieces of the crust to dip into the filling and it tastes so damn good, I'm very happy ;u;💕🥧
(also here's the recipe I used for the filling!)
