Summary: The decision to start a youtube channel was a spur of the moment thing. Sure you’d watched your friends have great success with their own channels, but when you uploaded your first video playing Genshin you never would have guessed it would take off the way it did. You’re perfectly content with the community you’ve built but if there’s one thing you’ve been missing, it’s someone to co-op with. When Mina offers to link you up with one of her old friends with his own channel, you just hope he won’t be too obnoxious. Enter Kaminari Denki. He’s definitely obnoxious, but he’s also so much more.

You’re making Denki nervous.

You can tell by the way his fingers tap against your arm even as he has you wrapped up in his. You can practically feel his heart beating hard against his chest through your back. He won’t say it but you scared him. 

It’s been over an hour since he calmed you down from your panic attack and you still haven’t said anything. 

You’re not staying silent to intentionally scare him for the record, you’ve just been thinking. 

What just happened sucks… To say the absolute least you hate that you were just chased off stream by a few assholes who were trying to justify what happened to you. It should make you want to run and hide and never crawl out but the idea of doing that fills you with an unproductive yet certainly justifiable anger. Which left you with the question of what to do next.

“You’ve been awfully quiet. Are you… feeling any better?” Denki asks cautiously, his arms tightening around you briefly. 

“Yea… Yea, sorry. Just thinking,” you confess.

“You don’t have to think on your own, you know. Maybe I can help?”

You smile softly, twisting in his arms so you can face him properly even as he keeps you in his arms. “Is it crazy that the only thing I feel right now is pissed off? Like once the anxiety cleared I just felt really, really angry,” you explain.

“I don’t think that’s crazy at all. You have every right to be mad at the way people have been acting lately,” Denki encourages.

His validation only strengthens your resolve as you nod your head, gathering your thoughts to further elaborate. 

“It’s like… I’ve worked really hard to build a community in my fandom and I really miss streaming… but now because a bunch of assholes feel entitled to see my face and harass me I can’t interact with the fans I love and use the platform I worked hard to make an audience on? It’s bullshit!”

“Okay well…. What exactly makes you anxious when people spam chat like they did today?”

You stop to consider the question, turning it over and over as you take yourself back to that moment.You let yourself get as close to it as you can without potentially setting your anxiety off again, analyzing it until you finally have the lightbulb moment you’re looking for. 

“Control. I feel like I’ve lost control of things,” you finally say.

“Then how do we get you your control back?” Denki prods. 

There’s another moment of thought before your resolve solidifies around a plan. A somewhat daunting one but a plan nonetheless.  

“I think I have an idea.”

As you switch the stream from the screen you usually have up while people join to your camera, you don’t expect much of a reaction considering how long it’s been since the photo of you was first posted. Instead you turn it on and chat goes nuts. You hadn’t realized just how much of your audience had gone out of their way to avoid your face reveal (or at least are doing a good job of pretending they did) and it makes your heart warm. You give yourself a moment to just appreciate it. The not so little anymore community you’ve made for yourself rallying together to support your actual face reveal. 

“Ok, ok guys, I get it, I’m stunning but you can all settle down now,” you joke, a wide smile you can’t shake stretching your lips.

Chat immediately starts to co-sign the statement, making you laugh brightly as you watch the frankly excessive amount of compliments roll in. 

“You’re all simps, derogatory, but I do want to talk to you guys before we get started with the stream. That ok?” 

Your eyes swing over to chat again as people eagerly respond. God you’ve missed this. 

“Ok so I know you all have heard by now that someone was able to figure out who I was while I was out meeting someone and took a photo of me without permission to out me on twitter. I don’t think they meant any harm by it, even if it did do harm, so I really don’t want people attacking them or anything. It was hard… for a bit. I can admit that. I’m sure some of you heard or saw what happened on Chargebolt’s stream.”

You wince slightly at the memory. Although you are at least grateful that it gave you the last push you needed to get back on stream. 

“But what matters now is that I’m ok, I’m back, and I’m excited for whatever the future looks like with you all. I really have missed you guys. I’ll probably still mostly go camera off. It would almost feel weird having my face on screen all the time. Also… frankly guys I’m lazy. This?”

You gesture to yourself, the outfit you’d chosen specifically for this stream, and the general indications of the effort you’d actually put in to look presentable on camera.

“This shit took time and I love you guys but not that much.”

Your teasing draws an equal amount of protests and validation from chat but it’s all done with such fondness and love. Your cheeks are already starting to hurt from how much you’re smiling but it’s well worth the pain.

“That said it would be fun to do some more collaborations and that’s a lot easier now that I won’t be juggling whether to have camera on or not, if it’s on how to set it up so I’m not visible, stuff like that. So like I said, I’m excited for the future. I really hope you guys are too…”

You allow the moment to hang in the air, to allow yourself to enjoy it and enjoy the outpouring of love and excitement coming from the people watching you. You soak in each treasured second of it and when you’re done basking in the moment, you start to boot up Genshin.

“Ok dorks, that’s enough sappy shit. Let’s get into it. I still haven’t done my daily commissions and I fully plan on kicking Childe’s ass at some point today.”

You spend the next few hours playing, occasionally taking breaks to just talk with chat. In some ways it feels like catching up with a good friend you haven’t seen in ages. Everyone wants to hear about you and Denki and they go back and forth between teasing you about it and fawning over you both with each story you tell. You leave some things for yourself, after all there is still a level of privacy you’d like to maintain. Your date at the gardens will always be just for you and Denki. But still it’s nice getting to share in your joy with the community, many of whom were rooting pretty hard for the two of you to end up together anyway. By the time you close out the stream you feel lighter than you have in a long time and as you wish everyone a goodnight, you find yourself excited for the next time you’ll get to interact with them again. 

Once everything is shut down, your first stop is to go to your apartment door. You unlock and open it swiftly and are not at all surprised when a blur of blonde hair and flailing limbs comes tumbling into your apartment as a result. Denki blinks up at you sheepishly as you lean over him so you can make eye contact. 

“I told you I’d be fine,” you chuckle, shaking your head.

“I know! I just, uh, happened to be in the neighborhood! So I thought ‘I know! I’ll stop by and check in on my incredibly awesome and understanding girlfriend!’ because I’m just thoughtful like that, y’know? But totally not at all premeditated, no ma’am,” Denki fumbles, trying to explain away his actions in spite of all signs pointing to quite the opposite of his claims.

You raise one eyebrow skeptically before very pointedly shifting your gaze to his phone where he’s still on the screen for your stream and back to his eyes.

“Has anyone ever told you you’re a shit liar Denki?”

“Yeaaa, I get that a lot.”

You can’t help but giggle at that, reaching a hand down to help him to his feet before pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. 

“You’re lucky you’re cute, you know that?” you ask with a teasing lilt in your voice.

“I know,” he beams, giving you that 5000 megawatt smile you adore so much. 

“Stick around to watch a movie since you ‘happened to be in the neighborhood?’”

“Sure! Sounds perfect.”

Later that night when you fall asleep in his arms in the middle of the film, he doesn’t complain or wake you up. He just smiles down at you fondly, pressing a kiss to your head before whispering ‘I love you’ into the stillness of the night, barely audible over the sound of the movie still playing in front of you both. It doesn’t matter that you can’t hear him in your sleep. He’ll have plenty of time to tell you it again and again when you wake up.

A/N: Holyyyy shit, I can't believe I finally finished this series. Thank you so, so much for your patience. In spite of all the delays, I really hope you guys enjoyed this. Denki doesn't get nearly enough love so I was very happy to give him a fic of his own, especially since he was the best friend in so many of my previous ones. You never cancel streams but today…

Today you don’t think you can handle trying to be entertaining for strangers on the internet for a few hours straight.

You turn towards your computer where discord is still idling only to notice a notification ping on your screen.

Chargebolt has just started streaming.

You click it away and ignore the ache in your chest.

Yo. Denki. It’s too much to think about right now.

You boot up Genshin, alone and without an audience for the first time in a long time. There’s something deeply calming about getting to run around the open world without having to worry about if what you’re doing is entertaining enough or if you’re interjecting too little or too much commentary. You let yourself get lost a little bit in it. You decide to start farming items for some of your more underutilized characters and before you know it hours have passed of just playing for you and only you. It’s a good feeling and you make a mental note to try and do it more often.

It’s late now and you’re just about to shut your desktop down for the night when you notice a discord notification. You might’ve ignored it but when you realize it’s from Bakugo, curiosity has you clicking the notification instead. The message is simple:

What the fuck are you doing awake?

You snort out a laugh and are in the middle of typing when suddenly you get a notification that you’re getting a discord voice call. You roll your eyes and pick up, not even able to squeeze a word in before the question is being repeated in Bakugo’s characteristic gruff tone. It’s soothing somehow. Perhaps an inevitable consequence of Kaminari constantly pushing you and Bakugo together is that you’ve actually become decently good friends with the surly streamer. Your initial sense that Bakugo cares deeply about people, albeit in his own way, was dead to rights and you’ve enjoyed his company even if you had grown exhausted of always having it thrust upon you.

“Hello?? Earth to space case? Why the fuck are you still awake?” Bakugo questions again, snapping you from your thoughts with a roll of your eyes.

“Not all of us end up on the verge of a mental breakdown if we don’t get at least 8 hours of sleep at night,” you snark back.

“Pikachu said you were so wiped you had to cancel your stream so I assumed you’d call it early.”

“Oh… Right…”

You hadn’t stopped to consider that Denki would’ve told Bakugo why you weren’t interested in doing yet another group stream. He probably only mentioned it in some misguided attempt to make sure Bakugo didn’t think you were avoiding him or something. God the cruel irony of the guy you were crushing on making it his mission to hook you up with someone else.

“What did he do?” Bakugo sighs.

“What?”

“What did Pikachu do?”

“How do you know he did something?”

“You’re actin’ all upset and shit, canceled your stream, didn’t wanna join us for Genshin but Pikachu noticed you were online when he went to hop in my world. And when I mentioned him jus’ now you got all fuckin’ quiet. So obviously he did somethin’ to fuck you up. What was it?”

“You’re really observant, y’know that?”

“Obviously I’m fucking observant now answer the damn question.”

You can’t help but chuckle, practically able to hear his blush through your computer’s speakers.

“In his defense I canceled the stream largely because of something else. And as far as what he did… Don’t take this the wrong way but I miss the days when Kaminari and I did solo streams,” you find yourself sighing.

“You like him don’t you?”

“I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.”

“Sure you don’t idiot. I’ll talk to him or something.”

“You really don’t have to do that. If he doesn’t want to solo stream with me, that's fine.”

“That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard and even if it weren’t the whole ship bullshit has been pissing me off anyway. Sick of him fanning the fuckin’ flames.”

“You don’t even wanna say the hashtag do you?”

“Absolutely fucking not.”

“What, you don’t like ‘Bakuastra’? But it sounds so cute,” you tease, enjoying getting a rise out of your volatile friend.

“It sounds even fucking dumber hearing it out loud.”

“But haven’t you seen the videos? We’re, like, totally secretly in love with each other babe.”

“You actually watch that shit??”

“What? No…”

“Astra…..”

“Ok I’ve watched one or two.”

“WHY?”

“I was curious!!”

“You’re a fucking idiot.”

“I stand by my choices! They’re so ridiculous it’s funny. Like watching flat earth videos.”

“Whatever. You feeling better now or what?”

You stop to take stock of how you’re feeling and realize you do, in fact, feel a bit better.

“I do.”

“Good. I’ll talk to Pikachu about being a bitch.”

“Again… You really don’t have to.”

“Shut up and get some rest stupid.”

You laugh again.

“Ok, ok. You get some rest too.”

“Don’t need you t’ tell me what to do.”

You roll your eyes hard but decide to say one last thing before you’ll leave the call.

“Hey Bakugo?”

“What.”

“Thank you.”

“...Don’t mention it.”

You’re not sure Bakugo will actually be able to help things with Denki, but at the very least you appreciate his willingness to try. As you finally shut down your computer and head to bed, you still feel the weight of your conversations with Yo and Denki, but they feel just a little bit lighter.

A/N: My fics always have at least one MVP friend. This fic it's Bakugo. The girls will also be good sources of support but Bakugo being the link between Denki and reader just always felt good and right to me maybe bc I always like showing how quietly caring he can be

You’re not sure how you managed to make it to work.

After using up any and all good will to get out of shifts for a few days, you finally had to talk yourself into going in. After all, explaining to your manager you want to take time off because you’re a faceless youtuber who’s just had their identity revealed would be a little antithetical to you trying to delay everyone knowing who you are as long as you can. The whole ordeal has turned you into a bit of an agoraphobe, and even the brief walk from the bus station to the coffee shop has you paranoid that at any minute someone is going to pop out and ask for a photo or an autograph or something. 

It’s a relief that the coffee shop is relatively quiet but even still you feel jumpy and nervous the whole time you’re working your shift. Any time a customer takes a little too long to say something or answer a question you pose you wonder if they’re trying to figure out if it’s really you. It takes hours for you to finally relax and get at least a little bit less paranoid about someone calling you out as Ad Astra.

So of course that’s when it finally happens. 

“What can I get you today?”

“Holy shit.”

“Sorry, don’t think we have that one,” you chuckle, but when you look up from the register’s monitor the customer is staring at you with wide eyes. 

“Uhm… Can I help you?” you ask cautiously, a sinking feeling settling in your stomach. 

“Sorry! Just, well, I knew this was a long shot because I only had the leaked photo and Yo’s livestream where he celebrated your subscriber milestone to go off of but I can’t believe I actually found you and the coffee shop you work at! I’m a huge fan, Astra! Can I get a photo with you? Oh my god, could you autograph my coffee cup?? That would be amazing! I have to tell people about this!” the fan rambles excitedly, already tweeting out your location before you can get a word in edgewise and ask her not to. 

“I’d really rather-” you start but she cuts you off.

“Don’t worry! I only sent it to a small-ish Ad Astra discord server I’m in. God they’re gonna flip when they see this! Say cheese!”

Suddenly she’s leaning across the counter so she’s next to you, facing her outstretched hand so she can take a selfie of the two of you together before you can even fully process what’s happening, only to gleeful send it to her group chat before giving you a bright smile as if she hadn’t just completely violated every boundary you’d attempted to set when you started on youtube. She then proceeds to give you her coffee order as if the past few minutes haven’t happened at all and then walk away to wait for it humming, apparently pleased with herself and how the interaction had gone. 

Either the girl’s discord server isn’t as small as she claimed or one of the other people in the server didn’t keep things nearly as tight lipped because no more than ten minutes later the once empty cafe is packed full of people scrambling to try and meet Astra. It’s terrifying and while your one other coworker working at the same time tries to make things easier by taking over the register, that still leaves you to actually make the drinks, meaning you’re still well within view and occasionally arms reach of the absolute pack of people all crowding around the counter trying to get a glimpse of or a photo with or an autograph from Ad Adstra.

God you’re just trying to do your fucking job. Your real world job. That’s supposed to be distinct from your social media job. And it’s all just so overwhelming and everyone is calling for your attention and you didn’t ask for any of this and why couldn’t Yo just use his brain for five fucking seconds and wait to post his stupid coffee photo for like fifteen goddamn minutes after you two had talked instead of before!

Just when you think you’re going to have a proper anxiety attack you catch a flash of familiar blonde hair shoving through the crowd to get to the counter. Denki finally fights his way to the front and reaches his hand out to you in a scene that truly feels right out of an action movie.

“Grab my hand!” he tells you urgently. You shoot an apologetic look at your coworker, who immediately shakes their head to indicate you’ve got nothing to apologize for, before turning back to your boyfriend and taking the offered hand. He swiftly pulls you over the counter and into his arms, wrapping you tight against his frame much to the initial protest of the others.

“Holy shit is that Chargebolt??”

He doesn’t keep you there long enough to even recognize who said it. He all but drags you out of the shop, hurrying you over to a black motorcycle. He climbs on effortlessly, encouraging you to do the same as the crowd hurries to follow you both. Before the first few people have even managed to rush out of the doors, you’re already straddling the bike with your arms tightly wound around Denki’s waist.
