About Gurudev
Tumblr media
“As Gurudev says it is no good just thinking spiritual thoughts, or engaging in chanting, ritual fasts and pilgrimages.  These things are good, but they mean nothing unless one does something - something that will help other people”.
(Extracts from Shri Manubhai Madhvani Autobiography ‘Tide of Fortune’ published in 2008)
                                                ****
Pujya Ranchhoddasji Maharaj was an ageless saint and Messiah, with vision and missionary zeal.  He was born into a Maharashtrian Deshastha Rigvedic Brahmin family in Baifal village of Varad in Amaravati Province, on the fourth day of the Hindu Kartik month.  His father was a police constable and he had one sister and three brothers.  His mother was very devout.
In his childhood he studied for two years in Baifal and for one further year at the nearby town of Naachan.  It was his childhood desire to become a Yogi Saint and when he was nine years old he left home and went towards Jaipur which at that time was known by the name of Amer.   in the village of Dhousa near Jaipur he had a fortunate meeting with Shri Balkrishnadasji Payhariji Maharaj, who was/who became his own Gurudev.  He went with his Gurudev to the Ashram at Galtaji which is still there today.  It is a natural cave in a hill, 14 kms from Jaipur.  This is an area of great natural beauty surrounded as it is by mountains, greenery, wildlife, and a marvelous waterfall all under the blue skies of Rajasthan. Many centuries old buildings are to be found here.
At Galtaji ashram he was initiated with the five rituals of Virakta Diksha and thereby became Yajurvedi, following the discipline of Vishisthadvaita of Shri Jagadguru Ramanandacharyaji Maharaj of Shri Matha of Varanasi.  Gurudev travelled widely throughout the country on foot and after years of meditation and self realisation attained the spiritual power which enabled him to give direction to all those standing at the crossroads of life.
Gurudev strongly advocated that there is no greater religion than service to humanity.  He stood for an age-old culture and values but never created a cult of his own personality.  He showed a way of performing selfless actions, discarding the rigidity of rituals.  Gurudev said that the only way to attain happiness is by giving it.  The gist of his teaching is a path of love through selfless service.  His message is not renunciation but selfless action, not attachment but dedication.  To give guidance to all those who have lost their path or who are treading in darkness he spearheaded the concept of volunteerism and voluntary efforts.
Gurudev preached the principles of Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah – may everyone be happy, and Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya – lead me from darkness to light.   He taught that we should serve the people to lead them from darkness to light, physically, mentally, ethically and spiritually without distinction of caste or creed.   In short, he was a man of vision.  His endearing spirit for this benevolent task attracted thousands of dedicated and devoted disciples.
He conceived the idea of organizing charitable eye camps and starting medical relief work over four decades ago. Annually from 1950 onwards he conducted free eye camps.  These were for the relief of blindness among the poor & needy in remote areas where no hospital facilities were available.
He envisaged the role of voluntary institutions to aid the millions of suffering humanity.  He founded various Trusts to organize and conduct all the activities throughout the year at three Centres.
1)   Sadguru Sadan Trust, Kuvadva Road, Rajkot - 360 003 Gujarat
2)   Raghubir Mandir Trust, Janki Kund, Chitrakoot - 210 204 Madhya Pradesh
3)   Ram Dham Trust Pushkar– 305 022 - Rajasthan
He also started relief operations during natural calamities such as droughts, floods, cyclones & earthquakes.  He tried to eradicate or mitigate the poverty, illiteracy and suffering of so many people.
He died on 19th April 1970 in  Bombay.  Although Gurudev is no longer with us bodily, his soul is still very much alive and his eternal divine inspiration is leading us from darkness to light in our day-to-day life.
·        Manubhai Madhvani , Kakira, July 2003
(Extract from ‘Voice of Experience’ published in 2003)
History of Ram Kuti
Tumblr media
Pushkar was one of Gurudev’s  favourite destinations.   He founded the Ashram called Ramdhan,  as a place for worship and a logistical hub for his charity work in the region.
Opposite Ramdhan, a house was established by Shri Haribhai Nathwani and Bhagiratbai Nathwani.  In the basement they kept a special room (Guffa) where Gurudev stayed, spent many days and nights in meditation and sleeping. The house was called Ram Kuti (abode of Lord Rama)
1970 – After Gurudev’s death in Mumbai, the Nathwani family preserved  Gurudev’s room for his disciples.  Today it is a place of great solitude and  peace for meditation.
1982 – After the death of Smt Jyotiben Manubhai Madhvani, Shri Manubhai established a Foundation called Jyotiben Manubhai Foundation.  This foundation purchased the original house.
In the due course, Manubhai enhanced the Gurudev’s area to make it a larger and a more spacious area for meditation.
At the same time  Manubhai built the existing Guest House to enable visitors to have access to Gurudev’s quarters as well as visit the many religious sites in Pushkar.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE REAL CARRARA MARBLE?
It is easy to get confused between different types of white marble that look similar. The background colour of an original Italian Carrara marble tends to lean towards a grey or blue-grey finish with more fine, linear striations. The grey background shows off subtle grey flecks and feathery, linear veining.  In comparison to other stones, Carrara marble has a more subtle appearance and generally a softer and subdued look.
HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF A CARRARA MARBLE?
Marble has always been considered the stone of royalty. It is no surprise that the white Carrara marble has been used to grace some of the world’s most famous palaces, museums, sculptures and churches. The pristine colour and striking veins make it one of the most sought-after stones for interior decor all around the world.
The uses for this marble are countless. Whether polished or honed, each of its finish type has numerous applications. There is simply no place that the Carrara marble can’t transform with its beauty. It has a sophisticated classy vibe to it which makes it the perfect material for bedroom decoration. You can use this white natural stone in your bedroom for covering the floor or accent wall to achieve an intimate setting.
If you like your living room with a stunning view with sliding glass doors then a polished Carrara marble floor will only add to the room’s magnificence.  If you don’t want an extensive marble makeover then a Carrara marble coffee table set can do wonders too.

Marble, Granite, and Stones of India
Granite, marble, sandstone, limestone, slate, and quartzite, in many states of India. We have evolved into the production and manufacturing of blocks, flooring slabs, structural slabs, monuments, tombstones, sculptures, cobbles, pebbles, and landscape garden stones.
Tradition of stones
India’s history, dating back to 4500 BC and our history since 1631 has been influenced considerably by the disposition, development, and use of stones and other construction materials. Dimension stones have also left deep imprints on the architectural heritage of the country.
Temples, forts, and palaces of Ancient Indian Civilisation have been carved out of locally available stones. The World-famous Taj Mahal at Agra was constructed from Indian marble. Some of the rock-cut structures include Khajuraho Temple, Elephanta Caves, and Konark Temple. Besides, all major archaeological excavations have revealed exquisitely carved statuettes and carvings in stone. Ancient Buddhist monuments like the Sanchi Stupa of 3rd century BC have also been carved out of stone.
This tradition of Stone Architecture has continued to the present era, with most of the important modern buildings in India like the Presidential House, Parliament House, and Supreme Court made from high-quality sandstone of Rajasthan. The Bahai House of Worship of New Delhi stands testimony to the relevance of marble in modern Indian architecture.
Stones are still the mainstays of civil construction in India, with stones being used extensively in public buildings, hotels, and temples. It is increasingly being used in homes, with the use of stones now penetrating amongst the growing middle class of India.
The success of the commercial stone industry solely depends upon defects in rock stone. Natural defects in ornamental commercial rock deposits adversely affect the quality of rock deposits. Detection of natural defects in the decorative and dimensional stone industry plays a vital role in the quality assessment.
We are a pioneer in the exploration, mining of commercial rock deposits, and in establishing a firm base for the stone industry. India, with an estimated resource of about 1900 million cu m, comprising over 500 shades of Dimension Stone Granites, accounts for about 205 of the world resources. Of the 500 varieties being traded in the world market, nearly half of them are from India. Commercially viable granite and other rock deposits are reported from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and others.
Marble
Marble was used for building tombs, temples, and palaces. For a time it was considered as Royal Stone. It is, however, now used in hotels and homes too. There are many varieties.
Makrana: Makrana is the source of the marble used in the Taj Mahal. It is situated at a distance of 60 km from Kishangarh and falls in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan. The region has various mining ranges, mainly Doongri, Devi, Ulodi, Saabwali, Gulabi, Kumari, Neharkhan, Matabhar, Matabhar kumari, Chuck doongri, Chosira and Pahar Kua amongst others.
Rajnagar Marble: the World’s largest marble-producing area, with over 2,000 gang saw units located in the nearby town of Udaipur to process the material produced. Agaria is a variety of this area, with numerous other varieties and patterns, primarily in white base. The marble is dolomitic and often has quartz intrusions.
Andhi Marble: Located near the capital city of the state of Jaipur ‘ it is dolomitic marble with intrusions of tremolite, and is commonly known by the name of pista pistachio marble, because of the green-colored tremolite against an off-white background. One of the famous varieties of this area was known as Indo-Italian, owing to its resemblance with Statuario Marble. Most of the mining of this famous field is now banned by the Supreme Court of India because of the vicinity of the area to the Sarika Tiger Reserve.
BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
Slumber Marble: Also known as Onyx Marble, it has thick bands of green and pink hint. A resemblance to Onyx Marble from Pakistan gives it this name. This is also highly dolomitic.
Yellow Marble: Jaisalmer stone is found in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. Though not been metamorphosed and hence is still a limestone, it is known as Yellow Marble in trade circles. It is mined in the Jaisalmer District.
Bidasar: These are ultra-basic rocks in shades of brown and green color found in Rajasthan. The criss-cross linear pattern gave it a remarkable resemblance to a photograph of dense forest. These are also known as forest green/brown or fancy green/brown.
Gujarat – Amba Ji White Marble: It can be compared with Makrana Marble. It is highly calcic and is produced in a town called Amba Ji famous for its temple of Durga Devi. The marble has a very soft and waxy look and is often used by sculptors.
Rajasthan – Abu Black: This is one of the rare Black textured marble available. Only produced in the mines of Abu road, this black textured stone is a decorative marble used in temples and sculptures.
Madhya Pradesh – Katni Range: It is famous for its beige colored marble which is dolomitic but highly crystalline, with very fine grain size and some quartz intrusions. The marble accepts polish. Another variety of the same range is red maroon-colored marble.
Jabalpur range’ contains white dolomitic marble. It is more often used as dolomite lumps for chemical and industrial uses.
Indian Green Marble: It is found in Rajasthan India, Indian Green Marble’s most quarries are situated in Kesariyaji it is 65 km far from Udaipur Rajasthan India. This Indian green marble is known by name in all over the world. In Europe, people know Indian green marble as a Verde Guatemala. Many varieties are available in Indian green marble. Granite
India has varieties of granite in over 300 shades. As of 2019, Granite reserves in India were 48500 million cubic meters and ranked fifth in the export of the processed product. Resources are found in Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.
Sandstone
India is among the leading countries when it comes to mining and export of sandstone. The best part with Sandstone from India is that it is available in different colors and considered best for interior as well as exterior use. Few most popular sandstone products from India include names like Tint Mint, White Mint, Mint Fossils, Modak, Agra Red, Rainbow Sandstone, Raj Green, Teak, Buff Brown, Dholpur Chocolate, Beige, Dholpur Pink, Lalitpur Pink, Mandana Red, Jodhpur pink, Jodhpur red, Jaisalmer yellow, etc.
These sandstones are available in several finishes and come with great strength. However, Sandstone like Rainbow is only available in layered form and so is not suitable when the good thickness is required and Jodhpur sandstone is best when used in front elevation and high comprehensive strength. To illustrate it clearly, you can’t have cobbles out of Rainbow sandstone in particular as it is usually available in the slabs form.
Slate
Slate reserves in India are found in Rajasthan, Behror, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Deposits in Rajasthan are spread over the districts of Alwar, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Pali, Udaipur, Churu, and Chittorgarh. Few important names in slate are Jak Black, Silver Shine, Silver grey, Panther, Deoli Green, Peacock, Peacock Multi, Kund Black, Kund Multi, and so on. Being to some extent fragile in nature, it is good for interior use only and can be used even as washboards.
Flaggy limestone
Kota stone of Kota district and Yellow Limestone of Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan are the prime limestone occurrences in India. Other deposits include the Shahabad Stone of Gulbarga and the Belgaum districts of Karnataka, Kadappa Stone of Kadapa, Kurnool, and the Anantapur & Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh, Milliolitic. Limestone from Saurashtra Region, Gujarat, and Yellow Limestone of Kutch district of Gujarat, amongst others.
Limestone deposits
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana put together possess 32% of the country’s total reserves of limestone. World-renowned Narzi limestone is available in the Kadapa district. Commercial grade limestone deposits are being exploited from Bethamcherla, Macherla, Neereducherla, Tandur, shahabad, Mudimanikyam of Kurnool, Guntur, Anantapur, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda districts are widely used in our country for paneling and flooring purposes. Sullivan limestone of Karminagar and Warangaldistricts, massive limestones of Mudimanikyam, Nalgonda districts.
Total India’s limestones are estimated at 1 lakh million tones. Limestones are extensively utilized for the manufacturing of cement and also building stones, particularly flooring and roofing.
Other dimensional stones
Some other dimensional stones are being quarried and used in consumption, in addition to the dimensional stones already detailed above. Lateritebricks are quarried in huge quantities and are utilized as bricks in the construction of houses and for pavements in the states of Orissa, Karnataka, Goa, and other parts of coastal states. The felspathic sandstone occurring with the coal seams as overburden is also used as a building stone. The huge deposits of basalt in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat are used as building stones since ancient times. Other quartzitic bands, occurring with phyllites and schists, are also utilized for building purposes. Khondelites from the East coast are being used widely

MAKRANA ROAD, KISHANGARH +919001156068 ( Call & Whatsapp) [4/4, 5:56 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: Makrana marble is a type of white marble of high quality,[citation needed] popular for use in sculpture and building decor. It is mined in the town of Makrana in Rajasthan, India, and was used in the construction of several iconic monuments such as the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. [4/4, 5:57 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: In the Makrana area, marble is found as five steeply-dipping bands.[1] They form part of the Ajmer Formation of the Delhi Supergroup, which is a sequence of sedimentary rocks that was deposited in the Delhi Basin during the Proterozoic. About 1450 Ma (million years ago) these rocks were affected by the Delhi Orogeny, causing the metamorphism that transformed the original limestones to marble and the folding that caused the steep dip and the current outcrop pattern.[2] [4/4, 5:57 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: Makrana is regarded as the oldest place in India with a marble quarry. Upon mining, Makrana marble is not subjected to any form of treatment, but used in cutting and chiseling straight away.[3] Makrana marble is one of the two calcitic marble varieties in India, with all others being dolomitic.[4] It has two varieties: white and albeta.[1] The quantity of marble reserves in the region is estimated to be 55 million tonnes by the state government.[4] About 120 thousand tonnes of the marble are produced annually from over 400 mines in the region.[5] Makrana marble has high percentage of calcium and is therefore resistant to water seepage.[1] The water absorption of Makrana marble is said to be the lowest among all types in India, and the marble is claimed to contain 98 percent of calcium carbonate and only two percent of impurities. The different shades of Makrana marble are pure white, white with grey shades and white with pink shades, depending on the level of impurities. The close interlocking property of the marble makes it strong, hard and translucent. It is said to retain its shine and white color for a long period of time.[4] [4/4, 5:57 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: Prominent buildings/monuments that used Makrana marble in their construction are: Taj Mahal, Agra, India[6][7][8] Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, India[6] – Makrana marble was chosen over various other European types in the construction of the Victoria Memorial, after several tests concluded Makrana marble to be superior. Sir Thomas Henry Holland, a British geologist, was given credit for recommending the use of Makrana marble in the construction of Victoria Memorial.[9] Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi, UAE[10][11] Moti Masjid, Lahore, Pakistan[12][13] Dukhnivaran Sahib Gurdwara, Ludhiana, India[14] [4/4, 5:58 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: Marble from Makrana is exported overseas mainly to the Persian Gulf countries, the European Union, Southeast Asia, Canada, Pakistan and Russia.[4][5] In India, it is mainly used for handicraft and sculpture work, apart from construction of buildings.[4] Makrana marble was given the geographical indication status in 2015 by the Geographical Indication Registry, Chennai.[15] [4/4, 6:00 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: India possesses a wide spectrum of dimensional stones that include granite, marble, sandstone, limestone, slate, and quartzite, in various parts of the country. The Indian stone industry has evolved into the production and manufacturing of blocks, flooring slabs, structural slabs, monuments, tomb stones, sculptures, cobbles, pebbles and landscape garden stones. [4/4, 6:02 PM] Aashish Bhutra Marble 😊🙏: Marble Edit Marble was used for building tombs, temples and palaces. For a long[weasel words] time it was considered as Royal Stone. It is, however, now used in hotels and homes too. There are many varieties.[1] Makrana: Makrana is the source of the marble used in the Taj Mahal. RAJASTHAN
And our journey continues. North India is very different from the South in terms of colours, landscape, people. It seems like a very different experience altogether. We’re heading towards Rajasthan. Very honestly, right now we’re not able to feel too much beyond the heat. It is after all the driest state in the country comprising of the famous Thar Desert. Keeping ourselves hydrated becomes very crucial at this point. Giving up is certainly not on our mind right now.
Our first stop in Rajasthan is Kotputli which is near the border.
There is nothing much happening here except the Cows
Aannd there’s more!
After Kotputli, our next stop is Kishangarh. On the way to Kishangarh after finishing with our McDonalds Ice cream, (I’ll agree, it’s good to suddenly spot a McDonalds where you least expect it) we met a 100km Ultra Marathon Runner. He was someone we were able to relate to, after all, we’re all on a similar journey. Though our courses may differ, the motivations seem the same.
I’m lovin’ it!
More love!
The 100km Ultra Marathon Runner
The next morning in Kishangarh, we decided to explore the local areas a little bit instead of riding on. I’m not sure we’d be visiting the same place ever again. It only makes sense to look around a little bit and soak in the culture as much as possible. These are the experiences that we are gathering along our road, things that will remain with us, things we learn from. The gali’s of Kishangarh was rather intriguing. Narrow with rows of houses on both sides, very apt for Bollywood movie chase scenes. We did have people stare at us while brushing their teeth, after all, we did disturb the usual harmony of the morning environment.
Perfect for Bollywood movie chase scenes?
Then we headed off to see the famous Kishangarh Fort. It was beautiful from outside but we weren’t lucky enough to go in because there were people residing inside.
That’s all from Kishangarh. Our journey continues towards Ajmer. We kept ourself full with dal baati churma.
After Ajmer, we kept riding towards Udaipur. En route to Udaipur, we were supposed to make our stop at a place called Bali but unfortunately, we couldn’t find a hotel there so we kept on riding and if was getting dark. Usually, we avoid riding at night but sometimes circumstances lead you to so it’s a good idea to be prepared with proper lights and reflective gear.
The view is however incredible!
Finally, by 9:30 pm, we reached a place called Bheem where we were able to find a hotel. The locals then told us that it’s not a good idea to ride at night because it’s common to have tigers around. We fell asleep to the call of peacocks.
And we identified the source of the noise in the morning!
Next morning, we resumed our journey for Udaipur. We crossed a couple of marble factories. The terrain included a number of climbs, tunnels etc. Most of the time, we were left with awe at the diversity of terrain and landscapes even within short spans.
Udaipur is a land of fancy palaces or “Mahals” as they call it. We had to make our visit to a few since we were in the vicinity. I consider us very lucky to be able to catch a play at Bangor ki Haveli. It was wrapped in culture and traditions with puppet shows, folk dances, local music etc. The most intriguing sight was a 70-year-old woman who danced with 11 pots on her head balancing a plate and on top of broken glasses.
We spent the next day exploring our surroundings and seeing unique sights like palaces in the middle of a river etc.
GUJARAT
Gujarat is not far anymore!
Our first stop in Gujarat was Shamlaji. From there, we left at 6am in the morning. The first thing we did was to look for breakfast. We had to settle for Khakra and Papri, I’ll be honest, it made us quite miserable. It was a hectic day on the road with excessive security and traffic because of the arrival of Japanese President Shinzo Abe in Ahmedabad.
The Same day we were able to reach Ahmedabad. The next day we had a workshop in Decathlon Applewoods. We kept eating Khakra and Papri throughout our stay.
Our next destination was Decathlon Vadodara. We were surprising welcomed by a huge group of people. The workshop there was very interesting and interactive with a good mix of enthusiastic people. One of the guys present was building a Tandem that can be fixed to any bike. Our interactions with him were definitely worthwhile.
The next stop would be Surat. On our way, we came across the Smitten Chocolate Factory. I was so excited that I carried a lot of chocolates out of there but in a while, all of them began melting.
Who’d imagine we’d end up at a Chocolate Factory
The road towards Decathlon Dumas Store in Surat is very good and well maintained, I felt like I was riding in Los Angeles. Before our workshop, we had a rest day when we explored the beach and just had a good time.
We ate royally at the Night Bazaar, finally.
It was time to leave Gujarat. 60 people from Surat Cyclists came to see us off.
Next stop – Decathlon Thane
