on the subject of names i like vs names that are mine
icarus actually falls into the second category. except gravity falls (show fandom both i have no idea) turned it a bit sour
still a good name though
#how did gravity falls turn it sour well would you like a ✨ Rant ✨#majority of fandom (including alex hirsch) sees ford in an unfavorable light. to put it very lightly#where else will you find people so angry at a character that they feel the need to censor his name#by taking this unfavorable view of ford and giving that specific perspective an association with the story of icarus#you give the story of icarus an association with arrogance prick selfish idiot#ford and icarus are very similar in a lot of ways#they were in a desperate situation. told not to do something related to a way out of that situation. did it anyway and suffered as a result#but the thing is icarus didn't fall because he was too arrogant or selfish or stupid#he fell because he had just achieved freedom and flight at the same time and got too excited about it#in the most literal sense he was just happy to be free#and that goes for ford too#that was long. end of tags
