Making this post so I can point at it later if any of these are right but behold. My splatoon 3 final splatfest theories

Option 1 (the most obvious): Deep Cut vs Off the Hook vs Squid Sisters

Two different ways this could go. They probably have the assets to make it so that each team is actually led by the group of it's namesake (maybe the splatfest tee colours would have the signature colours of the group as either a gradient or pretty tie-dye stuff, and the ink colours in matches would be random but made sure they're at least visibly different. oth vs ss would pick one pink one green for example). The hub worlds would show the colours for that team. The main reasons I don't think they would do this are a) the news segment would be complicated (would they be switching between studios mid-scene? is everyone just crowded into deep cut's one ???) and b) the Inkopolis hub worlds are dlc

The other way they could do this is for OtH and SS to be represented by Frye and Big Man respectively, because we do sort of now have a set-up where each member of Deep Cut has a specific connection to each idol group. Shiver is the leader of Deep Cut (via Splatfest Results Only), Frye has now gained some kind of bestie rivalry with Pearl, and Big Man has been making music with the Squid Sisters. While I don't think it would be in-character for Frye or Big Man to choose those groups over Deep Cut (they have their code!!) they might be leading the teams as a sorta, someone has to root for the underdogs / Well Deep Cut Is Just Us Do You Want To Be Boring Shiver We Have To Have Opponents In Order To Win

Option 2: Past / Present / Future

I've had this idea since near the start of the game and since we've already had an idol VS splatfest for the first anniversary they might not be planning to do another one. This would also be an interesting theme as a Regular Splatfest Which Is Not The Last One but I feel like it's kind of meaningful enough to be a finalfest one in the same way Chaos vs Order was? (and could, technically, cause world theming for a splatoon 4, I guess. do we go traditional or futuristic or make everything the same as before / just kind of Still)

The assigned teams for this are in that order but the reasoning is:

Shiver: Past. They're proud of themself and what they've achieved and their lineage, so the past is important to them. You have to have done well in the past to have a good present or future, right? (also they sure have Won Lost Of Splatfests in the past. lol)

Frye: Present. She's enjoying the now! Live for today! Why worry about the past or the future when you can live one day at the time and now have to worry about what has or will happen? (also, Frye is a gift to us all)

Big Man: Future. He's very chill and looking forward to what the future will bring! Potentially a little Worried about the future as well, with being the head of his clan now, but are the past and present not equally worrying?

Anyway fun and silly explanation this is not supposed to be a serious "so This is what the theme will be based on my guessing" but I just think these would Be Fun And Possible. I just wanted to place this here as a time capsule <3

On Awakenings in The Legend of Zelda

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, on the corrupted-guardian-infested Blatchery Plain, in one moment Zelda is all but helpless--and in the next she becomes a living weapon capable of holding the Calamity itself at bay single-handedly.

Why did this happen at that moment? Why didn't prayer work? Some people say it's because the answer was love, but I only partially agree. I think the answer is in the screenshot.

We get scattered breadcrumbs of evidence in Breath of the Wild, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, and other Zelda games that help to answer these questions. I won't talk about every single one - just the biggest, most glaring ones.

1.) The Triforce on Zelda's Hand

This is the hub of my whole argument. The Triforce on Zelda's hand (and the one that appears in the air in front of her in other shots) is complete.

Zelda is wielding the power of the entire Triforce at once--all three parts: power, wisdom, and courage. In this game she is not simply the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom.

The punchline: BotW Zelda successfully wields the whole Triforce.

2.) Skyward Sword Link Had to Awaken The Hero Inside Him

In Skyward Sword, Zelda says, "...the goddess, Hylia, needed someone with an unbreakable spirit. That someone is you, Link. But spirit alone wasn’t enough. You had to overcome many trials and awaken the hero within yourself so that you could wield that supreme power." The supreme power she refers to is the complete Triforce.

SS Zelda is telling us ordinary courage isn't enough.

The punchline: To wield the whole Triforce, you must be a hero.

3.) Only One with a Balanced Heart Can Wield the Whole Triforce

In various games, we're also told only a balanced heart (containing wisdom, power, and courage) can wield the full Triforce. When an unbalanced person tries, the Triforce breaks into its three parts. The one most strongly aligned with the person who tried to wield it remains with them, while the other two find their most strongly aligned people alive. (In OoT, this is how Link and Zelda get the Triforces of Courage and Wisdom respectively--Ganondorf touches it, but he is unbalanced and can't wield it, so it shatters).

This is why in OoT and Twilight Princess, Link and Zelda's hands only show one glowing triangle--not all three. They each only have access to the part of the Triforce most strongly aligned to them.

The punchline: BotW Zelda must have a balanced heart when her power awakens.

4.) Once Zelda's Power Awakens, She Can Hear The Master Sword

Suddenly, after Link collapses on the Blatchery Plain, Zelda is able to hear Fi and see the glow within the Master Sword--the sword tells Zelda how to save Link.

When Zelda's power is fading at the end of BotW, she can no longer hear the sword's voice.

This strongly suggests that the magic which allows a person to hear the sword doesn't come from the sword--it comes from the person listening! [This is a critical detail for my fanfic, but I won't go into it here].

The punchline: a person must have their own magic to hear spirit-voices.

5.) The Dream Vision

BotW Zelda writes in her diary of a disturbing dream. In it, a beautiful woman tried very hard to speak with her, and it seemed urgent but Zelda simply could not hear what she was saying.

The meaning of this dream vision seems clear: Hylia is not refusing to speak with Zelda at all. She is, in fact, trying to reach her. Zelda is unable to hear Hylia because the magic which allows them to communicate does not come from Hylia. (Just like the magic that allows Zelda to hear the Master Sword does not come from the Sword). Zelda must be awake in order to hear the Goddess because the magic which allows it to happen is Zelda's.

The punchline: Hylia was not silent. Zelda was deaf.

6.) There's No Evidence That BotW Link Could Hear Hylia or Fi Pre-Calamity

Imagine being Link standing at the Spring of Power while Zelda's begging the Goddess Hylia to tell her what's wrong with her.

Put yourself in Link's shoes for a moment.

He knows Zelda's power is critical for Hyrule. So regardless of his other motivations... if Link could hear Hylia's voice coming from that statue... wouldn't he have acted on it? Wouldn't he have told Zelda he could hear it? They could have tried to work out the difference between Zelda and Link and tried to understand what Zelda needed to do. At the very least, Link could have been a go-between.

None of this happens. Zelda remains entirely in the dark until the moment her power awakens.

If Link could hear Fi... at the very least, Fi could have told Link prayer was irrelevant. (Maybe Link just didn't tell her, you might say. I say - no way. They were talking to each other by the end according to Zelda's diary. He'd have said something).

The punchline: There's a good chance Link was also deaf.

I'll collect all those punchlines: a.) BotW Zelda successfully wields the whole Triforce. b.) To wield the whole Triforce, you must be a hero. c.) BotW Zelda must have a balanced heart when her power awakens. d.) A person must have their own magic to hear spirit-voices. e.) Hylia is not silent. Zelda was deaf pre-Calamity. f.) There's a good chance Link was also deaf pre-Calamity.

Putting all that together with what Zelda does right before the Triforce appears on the back of her hand:

Link defends Zelda first--and more than just defending her, he knows this next shot is about to kill him. He stands there anyway, willing to die to give Zelda that one last chance to live. This is more than ordinary courage. This is the courage of a true hero.

Zelda says no.

She shoves Link back and steps between him and the guardian's targeting laser. And more than just defending Link, she knows this shot is about to kill her. She stands there anyway, willing to die to give Link that one last chance to live. This is more than ordinary courage. This is the courage of a true hero!

I propose to you that in this moment, they have each stepped between the other and what they believe to be certain death.

I propose that in this moment, they both met the final requirement necessary to wield the full might of the Triforce: to not only be willing in theory to die for someone, but to decide willfully to do so right then in the moment--the ultimate self-sacrifice.

True Courage.

At this moment, Zelda is now a balanced hero, no longer deaf, and the symbol of the whole Triforce appears on the back of her hand (because it's her birthright, passed down to her by heredity like parts of it were in Zelda I and II).

I believe in this moment, BotW Link may have also heard Fi's voice for the first time.

('What about when he saved Zelda from the Yiga?' you might ask. Was that brave of Link? Sure! Did he think he was facing his own death? Unlikely. He makes quick work of those footsoldiers).

('What about love?' you also might ask. Didn't love awaken Zelda's power? Well, yes, it did! She loved Link enough to die for him. The nature of that love is up to your interpretation--the drive of a stranger to shove someone else's kid out of the way of a car on the street is still a form of love, even though it doesn't come from any sort of prior attachment. I personally interpret this to be romantic love, but you don't have to. The courage of a true hero is what activates the power--the love catalyzed it).

There's more.

I decided to post about this is because a critical moment in a fanfic of mine depends on the answer to these questions. (That said, I'll post about the fanfic separately, and the rest of this will just be my answers to the questions).

As I typed this, I realized there's so much more that ties into it, but if I put it all in this one post, it'll be far, far, far too long. So... I guess I'll be posting more of these. This must be 'On Awakenings Part 1'!

Into, Across and Beyond! Scripting: The Big Chase

Outside of the Quill Society HQ's meeting room in Many More Heroes, an alarm started blaring, confusing many Quill Society members who heard it.

OMT!Tails (through their communicators): All stations, drop what you're doing and stop that Sonic!

Quill Society Sonics: pointing fingers at each other in confusion

OMT!Tails: Darn it, sorry. I meant LM, the one with the red eyes of evil! He's headed for Sector 4!

The person who entered Sector 4 first was Chaos Adventure Sonic, which is the first to catch the attention of those spending time there.

CA!Sonic: Er, is something on my quills or something? What's the whole stare contest for?

OMT!Tails (from down that hallway): CA, he's right behind you!

SS!Amy (from down the same hallway): Turn around!

CA!Sonic: Huh? (turns around) I don't see anything...

OMT!Tails: Maybe feel behind you?

When he DID turn around, LM!Sonic was revealed, trying to hide behind him, and with his cover blown, the present Quill Society members quickly identified their target.

SunFIRE: That's our guy!

ZX Spectrum and Game.com Sonics: *indecipherable beeping*

LM!Sonic: O-Oh! Hehe...

CA!Sonic managed to feel LM!Sonic behind him.

CA!Sonic (quite casually, like in RodentRap/Sonic Legacy): Oh, there you are!

LM!Sonic: Aw, crud...

(Mini trivia: Alongside that story's version of Sonic, Chaos Adventure's counterparts of Amy and Cream are in the Quill Society as well, the former mainly to ensure Sonic doesn't get into more trouble than it's worth.)

Cue the big chase, with many members working to get after LM!Sonic and apprehend him however they could, whilst OMT!Tails and SS!Amy headed toward the space elevator. And on one area, LM!Sonic was attacked by a mini version of Sonic's Werehog state who gave him numerous rough scratches before knocking him downwards.

During the chase, OMT!Tails and SS!Amy had to keep Turbo off their trail.

OMT!Tails: Can this day get any crazier?!

As if on cue, Metallix flew up, targeting the duo.

OMT!Tails: Well, guess it can. Keep moving!

They slipped past and caught sight of the sector where the Transport Hub was; their ticket out of here. But for now, that had to wait.

LM!Sonic was on his way after them, but was halted in his tracks by a Sonic 1 version of Nack the Weasel.

S1 Nack: Alright! Yer askin' for it!

He drew out his cork gun.

S1 Nack: We'll settle it man-to-man! On three! One-!

But LM!Sonic just blasted him out of the way.

S1 Nack: YOU DIDN'T WAIT 'TIL THREEEEEEEEE...

Nitro caught up with April riding on his back.

Nitro: Hey, LM!

LM!Sonic: You again?!

Nitro (holding up his 2DS): You mind quickly taking a picture? It's April's first grand-scale chase!

LM just rolled his eyes and zipped off, narrowly avoiding Fleetway Amy's crossbow and Tekno's laser gun.

Nitro: Ah, well.

He simply threw the 2DS in the air, letting April leap up and take the picture between them before they kept going. Back with OMT!Tails and SS!Amy, OVA!Knux was letting them ride his horse across the area.

OVA!Knuckles: You need to reach that elevator? Got you covered, kids!

They trotted through the prison area, with a few of the prisoners rooting for the pair (yes, even Scourge, who hates the idea of someone dictating what people can and can't do)... then they started booing Turbo and Metallix as they made pursuit. On the way there, they got off the horse once in the clear as Millie the Fox (CartoonsAnimate22's OC) showed up.

Millie: Are you the Tails from that dimension where you helped kill a shapeshifting beast?

OMT!Tails: Uh, yeah!

Millie: Heh, I knew it! I'm a huge fan of your heroics, Tails!

OMT!Tails: Hehe, thanks!

She turned her attention to the pursuers.

Millie: Hey, you two! Do either of you think us heroes using comedy so much makes us look like we have some screws loose?

Turbo: Uh... what?

Millie: Get it? Screws?

She leapt up and tail-whacked Metallix's head off, causing him to careen down to lower ground.

Metallix: SYSTEM ERROR! NAVIGATION AND TARGETS INACCESSIBLE!

SS!Amy: Heh, nice one! You hang here while we take care of the rest.

Millie: You got it, Amy!

The two heroes continued on their way. Back at the bigger chase, OVA!Sonic leapt forward to attack.

OVA!Sonic: You might know everything we're going to do, but that's not gonna help you, since WE know everything YOU'RE going to do!

However, his slow animation made him outright miss.

OVA!Sonic: Oh, dang it! I really gotta get my speed improved, don't I?

Even after dodging his "meme" counterpart, LM!Sonic still had his work cut out for him, barely avoiding various attacks, such as Sunky and Tlels being launched at him (courtesy of Nicky, who also contributed), RAW better utilising his electric shoes and glider, and Blitz!Tails and Milly swiping at him with his claws and her scythe respectively. Soon enough, LM!Sonic was cornered by many Quill Society AND Blur Gang members on all sides.

Mini Sonic: Nowhere to run now!

LM just resorted to leaping out the window.

Mini Sonic: O-Oh! Heh, my bad, everyone. There was somewhere to run.

Creamy: I blame the one with the anvil.

Mr. Needlemouse (defensive): What? We were tryin' to catch him, don't look at me!

[Mr. NM has a body count :) - MCS]

Outside, OMT!Tails and SS!Amy were freefalling as LM!Sonic continued his pursuit. Fiona caught sight of them, quickly taking Carol's motorbike from her.

Fiona: Sorry, Carol!

Carol (just waking up before noticing): Wha...? Hey! Come back with my bike!

She made pursuit as LM!Sonic started flying after OMT!Tails and SS!Amy.

LM!Sonic: Stop running!

OMT!Tails: Then stop chasing us everywhere!

LM!Sonic: You're so frustrating!

Fiona pulled up on a balcony with the bike as OMT!Mina watched.

Fiona: I know he's your friend, but it's the only way LM isn't going to get angrier.

OMT!Mina: But my gut says-!

Fiona: Then use your head, kid!

CR!Sonic heard this with CR!Sonia and CR!Manik, coming up with a plan whilst slipping away. Fiona attempted to knock them both down with the bike, though OMT!Mina caught them both with webs.

OMT!Mina: Gotcha!

OMT!Tails: M-Mina? You came back for me?

OMT!Mina: I can't just leave you in danger.

OMT!Tails: It's okay, Mina. Me and Amy will handle it together. Just trust us.

They severed the webbing, only to be pinned to a wall by Turbo.

Turbo: I got you cornered now, kids, so don't even- OW!

They both knocked themselves free as they went into the underbelly of Gust Planet, which hadn't been explored in years. The two didn't know where they were to go, but they didn't need to; two enerbeams got them up to the safety of a higher sector.

CR!Sonic: Tails!

OMT!Tails: No no no no! Let us go!

CR!Sonic: It's too crazy to run for too long!

SS!Amy: And running is the least crazy thing we're putting up with right now!

They started looking for a way out.

CR!Sonic: Look... I feel really bad for earlier, buddy.

OMT!Tails: Good.

CR!Sonic: But there's only so many ways we can screw stuff over. If you aren't careful, you won't be able to win!

OMT!Tails ignored him, still looking around as CR!Sonia and CR!Manik got in front of him.

CR!Sonia: Hey, um... I know this isn't the best time, but... do you want to hold one of us?

OMT!Tails: I, er, sorry, I can't-.

CR!Manik: 10 seconds at most and then talk with Dad, alright? It'll really change our mood.

OMT!Tails: Sorry, but I-!

CR!Sonia: It's very rejuvenating!

OMT!Tails: I feel very rejuvenated right now!

CR!Sonic: And you'll be more so when in the presence of one of my amazing kids!

OMT!Tails: You don't GET to have a heartfelt conversation with me right now, Sonic-!

CR!Sonic: JUSTHOLDONEOFTHEMANDWE'LLSEEWHATHAPPENS!

CR!Sonia held OMT!Tails gently, to his surprise.

CR!Sonic: You're the reason I had them, okay?!

The two heroes stopped for a moment.

CR!Sonic: I thought that if I did a good job raising them, there was a chance they were gonna turn out like you. And that got me excited, because you're a wonderful kid and I really like being around you!

OMT!Tails sighed, feeling worried.

OMT!Tails: I really wanted to be around you guys even more through this place, but the side of it LM manipulated you into isn't a positive one.

CR!Sonic: Look, bad things are always gonna happen to us at some stage, no matter what. It's what makes us who we are. But lots of good things happen as well.

He put a hand on his surrogate little brother's shoulder.

CR!Sonic: Like you happened. And they happened.

OMT!Tails: Hey... I don't...

E-21 (over the comm): Sonic, we got your location! Sit tight, and they'll be on their way!

CR!Sonic (panicked): Elise, abort that protocol! You DON'T have my location!

LM!Sonic (through the same comm): I'm coming over now! Do NOT let those rats escape!

CR!Sonic: T-Tails, I didn't know... Please, let's talk about this.

OMT!Tails: Hey, it's alright. We just did. Just keep them distracted for at least a little bit, alright?

The two kids got ready to do so as OMT!Tails and SS!Amy departed.

CR!Sonic: Well, good talk.

As OMT!Tails and SS!Amy careened into the city streets, CR!Sonic and OMT!Mina were running close by.

OMT!Mina: Where are they going?

CR!Sonic: I just hope Tails has this planned out.

Fiona rode alongside them on the bike.

Fiona: If it hasn't been stated before, by the way, you're a terrible teacher!

She leapt up into the air with the bike, but OMT!Tails managed to swipe the bike from under her and fling it into the air for Carol to catch, causing Fiona to crash onto a train roof.

Carol: I'm taking that back!

CR!Sonic: Well, he did just beat you, so I'm not a terrible mentor.

LM!Sonic showed up, annoyed, as OMT!Tails and SS!Amy reached the elevator dock and got it ready for liftoff.

LM!Sonic: You're both equally terrible. Does THAT settle it?!

LM!Sonic grabbed onto the space elevator as it began its ascent, with CR!Sonic, OMT!Mina, Antho, Nitro and Mobiverse Tails right behind them.

LM!Sonic: Stop pretending you know what you're doing!

OMT!Tails: Oh, I have a plan! You just don't know it yet!

He and SS!Amy clung onto the elevator roof for dear life as LM!Sonic clawed his way after them.

Terminal Velocity Intercom: Departing for Gust Planet's moon!

OMT!Tails: What are those, claws?! Dude, are you sure you even class as a hero?!

LM!Sonic: Are you? Who do you think you are, really?!

OMT!Tails took a deep breath.

OMT!Tails: My name is Miles "Tails" Prower...

He leapt down and dealt a powerful drop kick to LM!Sonic, knocking him further down the track.

OMT!Tails: I inherited my best friend's mantle because he wanted me to.

LM!Sonic tried to grab OMT!Tails with his enerbeam, though was met with a cannon fastball right at the face.

OMT!Tails: I'm pretty sure you know the rest, jerk!

LM!Sonic continued clawing after the two.

LM!Sonic: You never got it! You and Antho are anomalies!

OMT!Tails: Not if you let me save the multiverse!

OMT!Tails kicked LM in the jaw.

LM!Sonic: Everywhere you two go, you’re anomalies. You’re both the original anomalies!

OMT!Tails glitched slightly in response, his original female, one-tailed self present for a split-second.

LM!Sonic: The energy that gave you your powers wasn’t from your dimensions. It was never supposed to get into you!

A couple of carriages below, CR!Sonic and OMT!Mina watched in horror.

OMT!Mina: LM, STOP!

CR!Sonic: LM, don't hurt him!

LM!Sonic: There’s a world out there without an heroic Sonic because the energy got to you instead! You were not supposed to be the heroes!

OMT!Tails: No, you're lying, you heartless bully! I AM a hero!

He realised how high he was above surface level, looking back at the two as Mobiverse Tails scaled the elevator, ready to give LM what for.

OMT!Tails: And I'm about to do this!

He charged up an energy bolt from LM!Sonic's shoes, causing HIM to glitch and realise he practically screwed himself over.

OMT!Tails: You are trying to tell me what my story’s ‘meant’ to be… No. I’m doing my own thing! Sorry, Lost Memory Sonic, but I'm saving the day, whether you want me to or not!

He released ALL that energy right back at LM!Sonic, catapulting him within reach of a furious Mobiverse Tails.

MV!Tails: Now you're getting it, freak!

He pummelled LM!Sonic into the elevator and punched him a LOT, leaving OMT!Tails and SS!Amy open to get right to their final goal.

OMT!Tails: We'll be back, guys. See you around.

They leapt downwards, using a Chaos Emerald to fast-warp to the Transport Hub.

CR!Sonic: Heh, I taught him how to do that. Even if he won't use a Super form, I must be a pretty good teacher for him to pull that off.

He and OMT!Mina let go back to the surface as LM!Sonic bursted out, racing back down at top speed in a blind fury. In the Transport Hub, Nicole and GCD!Amy were just trying out different hairstyles.

Nicole: Hmm, nope... Nah... Well, that's kinda cute.

OMT!Tails and SS!Amy warped in.

GCD!Amy: Oh! Tails!

Nicole: We heard you were coming over.

OMT!Tails: No time to explain! Activate the machine and get us warped over to whatever dimension Crimtake is currently at!

GCD!Amy: You got it! Quick, climb in the pods!

They did so.

OMT!Tails: Wait, isn't that where I had to escape my evil counterpart before? Ah, well. It'll do.

LM!Sonic was bashing on the entrance door.

After three of his knocks as a warning that he's coming in, GCD!Amy rushed to the console...

...and activated the defence mechanism to fry him with electricity. Once this happened, he busted into the room, clawing at the chamber OMT!Tails was inside in his blind fury. Other Quill Society members rushed in to stop him and pull him away.

Amy Rouge: Cut it out!

OMT!Tails nodded to his fellow Quill Society and Blur Gang friends, ready to go.

Mr. Needlemouse: 100 rings for me if the kid doesn't make it back!

Mini Sonic: Yeah, you're on!

LM!Sonic: NO!!!

LM!Sonic was far too late, the two heroes being warped away.

LM!Sonic: All he had to do was listen. Why didn't he listen?!

OMT!Mina: Maybe YOU weren't thinking the right way.

LM!Sonic glared at her.

Other Minas in range got in front of her, keeping LM!Sonic out of her reach.

EV!Mina: Okay, just back down!

OMT!Mina: Sonic, you want to back me up?

CR!Sonic nodded.

CR!Sonic: Well, LM, as the father of a son and daughter and nephew of an uncle-.

LM!Sonic: Actually, please stop talking, CR.

OMT!Mina: Tails is my friend-!

LM!Sonic: Yeah, and that's the problem.

LM!Sonic: If you're so smug about that, how about I lock YOU out of multidimensional travel for good, anomaly?!

Nitro: ...What did you just call me, you prick?

LM!Sonic: You know what you are, Smith. You tried tampering with fate just to get your sorry excuse of a father back, and you could've made the entire multiverse unstable from your crime! Not to mention that your memories should NOT have been maintained after that reset.

Nitro quickly strangled LM in return.

LM!Sonic: Or what?! You're gonna use some "special power" to hurt me?!

Some vines wrapped around LM's ankles and wrists, pulling him back into the wall where EV!Sonic knocked him out, holding a green Chaos Emerald in his hand.

EV!Sonic: What absolute shame.

He turned back to the many members in the room.

EV!Sonic: You did well today, everyone. You can continue about your business now, but I do ask for a few of you to stay behind to supervise me in sending LM back to his dimension.

OMT!Mina: Of course. I'll stick around.

Nitro: As will I.

Many of the other members departed to return to their tasks.

OMT!Cream: I'm happy to hear it. Erm, who is this Mr. Sonic next to you?

EV!Sonic: An absolute prick who tried orchestrating your death. Best to let us deal with him. (to Fleetway Amy) In the meantime, Amy, maybe you could give her a little tour of the place?

The Gallery (Artist's Statement & Revised Final Proposal). "Light and Shadow"

Artist's Statement:

My photo essay seeks to unveil the soul of artist creations within a gallery using Light and Shadow. Inspired by the American photographer W. Eugene Smith, I tried to capture the essence of the art while still making it my own  through the timeless medium of black and white photography and in some cases inverting the shades.

In this series, I explore the subtle nuances of the gallery space, capturing the shadows cast by the artist's creations. Each frame is a choreography of contrasts—bold shadows that become their own image and gentle highlights that reflect into some of the work displayed becoming something present but ephemeral.  I hope the absence of color heightens the drama, allowing the viewer to see through my lens what was unnoticed with the naked eye.

Smith's use of light and shadow was my influence. His ability to transform ordinary scenes into poetic narratives resonates with me deeply.  I am drawn to the way Smith's photographs convey emotion, not just through the subjects themselves, but through the interplay of light and shadow. 

I used Adobe Photoshop to alter the color images that I captured on a ProCamera app As in the hopes of honoring the legacy of W. Eugene Smith. Through my camera App, I aim to tell stories not just of the art on display but of the unseen narratives that unfold in the dance of light and shadow.

Positioned appropriately 6 of the 8 images were chosen to represent the “grey” that is American Democracy.

Real, Peace (American Soldiers wear digital camoflauge), Stars (representing US), hanging tree (representing women who were hung, and African Americans were hung unjustly, elephant (republican icon), chaotic image (democracy chaos).

Revised Proposal

I intended to document the inside of an art studio where students are challenged to create their projects using materials and concepts that they bring to the room. The room morphs from this vacant bare space to a hub of creativity and back to an empty space. In the time between its barren emptiness and the time the artists finalize and present their project there is a lot of activity and much of it is visually poetic. I had to change plans because the room wasn't lit enough to cast the array of shadows needed for my final. New concept involved shooting the effects of light and shadow on an exhibition without using flash.

I attempted to apply the techniques exemplified by American Photographer W. Eugene Smith. Smith, a renowend U.S. photojournalist. Smith is considered to be the most important American photographer in the development of the editorial photo essay. His major photo essays include World War II photographs, the visual stories of an American country doctor and a nurse midwife, and the pollution which damaged the health of the residents of Minamata in Japan. His work was in Black and White. He liked to, in his words, "sink into the background to record the human condition." I think artists have a similar advocation. Some of Smith's photographs are so powerful that they challenged perceptions of history. Artists do it to...and I want to show the space and the process they use.

STRAIT OF MALACCA OCEANIC LIGHTS

On February 14, 1977, in the Strait of Malacca, observers aboard the SS Cardigan Bay were mesmerized by a phenomenal lights show. The show began with an enormous luminous wagon wheel of light, which transformed itself many times before fading away ten minutes later. Ten-foot-wide spokes radiated outwards from a dark hub, spaced thirty feet apart at the perimeter. The wheel was rotating, making a complete revolution every twenty seconds. After a few minutes, the light wheel split into a series of parallel V shapes, which traveled beneath the ship, reformed on the other side, and spun first clockwise and then counter clockwise. Unexpectedly, a second wheel appeared above the first, spinning in the opposite direction of the wheel below it.

In 1907, S. C. Patterson, second officer of the SS Delta, reported a fire wheel 600 yards in diameter, with white-yellow spokes, flashing on the water's surface. Patterson described the phosphorescent ring as "very similar to that of the reflection of a powerful electric quick-flashing light thrown on the clouds on a clear dark night." After thirty minutes, the wheel abruptly vanished.

In 1909, Captain Gabe of the steamship Bintang witnessed a revolving wheel of light on the water's surface. The wheel was so large that the center was on the horizon and only half of the wheel could be seen at a time. For fifteen minutes the phenomenon persisted, finally fading when the ship neared the hub of the circle.

Hi :) everyone. So all these asks seemed related so I grouped them.

First of all, let's go over some past events.

Where did the rumors come from about him attending Justin's sis wedding?

It all started when a comic con FB page told fans he would not be able to attend the Con because he has a wedding to attend. Now the Con was supposed to be this weekend of July as far as I remember. Later when the comic con page admins were asked many questions they removed their comment and also the fans they don't know anything for sure. I also shared on my old blog a ss of a friend's message to them in which they admitted they didn't know. At that time we all tried to look where the rumor might have come from but nobody reached a definite conclusion except for trying to point out a possible no of trolls who had already been spreading rumors of Chris getting married to Alba.

Two types of speculation started: Either it was his own wedding or he was attending Justin's sis wedding in July. A third speculation was started by the pr blogs with sources that he would attend a wedding of a friend which we now know, it came from the CandyLove person as shown in the ss shared by themselves.

So we can remove one speculation which is the friend's wedding because it came from a scammer and we all know how truthful they have been proven.

Now the other two speculations remain. The wedding rumor about Chris and Alba has been circulating for months. Mainly the hub has been Twitter. Later certain Team Real blog also started spreading rumors about the confirmation of their engagement in May. Another source claimed about their engagement has been DM.

The speculation for Justin's sis wedding came from Tumblr blogs who knew the date of his sis wedding which happened to be at the same weekend.

If you all see, there has been no "inside info" in any case. Even in Jenny's case, the articles claimed to have an inside source but for the engagement articles for Chris and ALba, the source has been DM as mentioned by the articles.

Now, let's ask ourselves, does any of this info confirms anything about their wedding or Chris attending Jusin's sis wedding? Unfortunately, NO! I am not saying he will never, he can attend the wedding, we will have to wait and see. Harry and Olivia also attended a wedding so we don't know what might happen.

Let's just wait and see what happens. There is no confirmation about anything, there are only fans speculating about everything.

Prisons at 300% capacity ohoho how very American of you. Joking aside I'm guessing this is because they just orchestrated a mass arrest but there are other instances of prisons in IDW that make it believable to me that mass incarceration is a thing.

As an aside its just interesting to think about in terms of "what do you do with outliers, combiners, mecha with destructive functions who cant be placated". Like in a society with such inequality that occasionally makes a robot that would be really powerful and thus pose a threat, having a robust and overly punitive system is a good way to maintain order and to get rid of problematic mecha.

Here's where I go, that is not later Megatron, I mean it is in the sense that Megatron and his regime, and just the war overall, does create a whole lot of desolation in the name of peace. But I remember other parts of IDW definitely pitching a softer, more well meaning Megatron. This Megatron is just very much, I am going change everything and kill all who oppose me which is a bit terrifying in that anyone could be fellow victims of the system who are concerned or desire input about the direction the movement is heading.

I think its an interesting place to start for Optimus because he is inheriting power and several powerful members from an abusive power structure to fight against mecha that were its victims that also are adopting a very destructive and dangerously violent motivation going forward.

Interesting to note Prowl radios back to Iacon. I personally like to write about it as the capitol and central hub of Cybertron but its hard for me to remember if it's official distinguished as such!

Had to check the wiki to comprehend the whole Ratbat thing

Really doesn't help with my motivation to play Engage either when so many people are saying it's just leagues and leagues better than... my second favorite entry in the series (right under Sacred Stones). And to be clear I've been playing FE since I was a kid, and 3H is still easily top three, even with all of its flaws. The people who try to hype up Engage as better than 3H kinda give it... a pretty high bar to try to leap over for a lot of people? And I get a lot of that is coming from exhaustion from 3H's fandom (mostly edelstans lol) but it still doesn't do the new entry any good imo.

Yeah, I get that. When people put down my favorite entries to boost another entry, it just feels like a jab more than an actual breakdown of the titles. I can see good and bad in both Engage and Houses, but I don't think it's necessary to tear one down for the other. Honestly, there was no way Engage would be similar to Houses' gameplay mechanics because the main mechanic of Engage relies on something closer to the Pair Up system but with Emblems, which is a very limited (turn wise, because you get so many turns with the Emblems at a time versus Awakening's introduced Pair Up) gameplay mechanic.

I've also been playing FE since I was a kid and I definitely agree Houses is one I prefer, and yes, also, story wise. I do understand the story has some issues and it's definitely annoying that you have to go through the hub world system for the first half of the game in every single playthrough if you want your units to perform at their best for the chapter maps, but that's only because the story is broken up between four routes (five if you count CS giving us even more information while still using the general hub world system, just much more limited). I get it, it can be irritating for lore lovers and some people don't want to play the same game four times (or at least not so quickly, and it's hard to avoid spoilers sometimes if you don't hurry through all four routes which can suck). The story itself though, as a connected whole, isn't bad.

Personally I find what Houses lacked in they did try to work on in Hopes with the characters, like how Felix and Sylvain were pretty shallow characters in Houses in some aspects (mainly in the main story. They had great supports sometimes, but their main story lines were often very shallow). Hopes gave them characterizations that felt genuine and real, and it's something I like to keep in mind for my next Houses playthroughs.

All the FE games have flaws in some areas so it's not Houses in particular. Like you said, it's probably fandom exhaustion, but that isn't the same as treating it like the worst entry in the franchise or like it's objectively inferior to Engage. To me, Engage is inferior both in story and gameplay, but I mainly focus on what I enjoyed. I do like the Emblem system, I just wished some of the older characters weren't ooc or that they got a bit more than generic lines for most of their bond conversations.

Engage doesn't really feel like a step up to me, but just another take on modern gaming. A step up would be like FE8 to FE9 (which is a little ironic, since FE9 was actually supposed to be FE8 because it was presumably in development before FE8 (it's called FE8 internally) but got released after SS and thus became the ninth entry). A different platform can do wonders for a franchise's new entries, but these two games don't have that.

And of course, I have no issue with people loving Engage. It's just getting pretty regular that I see (especially on YouTube in particular) people acting like Houses is suddenly a really bad entry, as if it wasn't what the whole fandom was obsessed with for three straight years.

In some way I think it's good that they're bringing FE7 back via the GBA emulator on Switch, because I'm hoping it reminds people that you don't need these complex new mechanics for a game to be that good. You don't need to dunk on the other entries for not having what you liked in it when you can play a game that has good story and characters but has an older way of playing/a not as new way of playing.

I enjoy Engage, but it just starts making me feel bitter when I see people comparing it to Houses and tearing Houses down to do so. It's fine to enjoy both and treat them as separate things even if they're within the same franchise. Every new game is going to "get better" in the sense of modern gaming, but it doesn't make the older ones worse.

Ayatollah’s Predictable Response

LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Oct. 3, 2022.--Over two weeks after the death at the hands of the Basij militia of 22-year-old Kurdish women Mahsa Amini for not wearing her hijab properly, 83-year-old Ayatollah Khamenei officially speaks out. Amini was allegedly beaten to death with a truncheon by the Basij “morality police,” for defying Iran’s strict women’s dress code.  Showing why its pure madness for the U.S. and EU to reinvent former President Barack Obama’s 2015 Iranian Nuke Deal AKA the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA], Khamenei blamed the nationwide protests over Amini’s death on the U.S. and Israel.  Like the old Nazi regime, the Jews were the cause of all Germany’s past defeats and economic woes, leading to the worst massacre in human history.  But Khamenei uses the same predicable playbook, blaming the U.S. and Israel for explosive rioting occurring in 80 cities and towns around Iran.

Iran has lingering regret over Ayatollah Ruhollah Khamenei’s 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled the progressive regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Palavi, who brought Iran out of the dark ages to incorporate U.S. and EU values into Iranian society.  Women during the Shah’s reign were not required to wear head-scarves, receiving comparable treatment in education and jobs in Iranian society.  Khomenei’s Islamic Revoution turned back the clock on 100 years of progress under the Shah and his father’s rule.  So, when it comes to nationwide protests, Amini was a catalyst for the population frustrated from the oppression of strict Shiite Islamic rule.  Khamenei approved the nationwide crack down on protesters, blaming the U.S. and Israel for trying to topple the Mullah regime.  But the aging-and-sick Khamenei knows that you can only oppress a population for so long.

Iran’s nationwide protests speak volumes about a population yearning for the good old days under the Shah when Tehran was a mini-Paris, a hub of haute couture, music, art and fashionable night life, letting Iranians work and live their lives without government oppression.  While the Shah had his “secret police” to prevent an Islamic takeover, the Basij militia were not tormenting Iran’s youth for wearing lipstick or listening to Western music.  “This rioting was planned,” Khamenei said.  “These riots and insecurities were designed by America and the Zionist regime, and their employees,” putting all the blame on imaginary foreign sources. Khameni and his Mullah regime knows that the protests are against oppressive Mullah rule, where the Basij and Revolutionary Gurards protect the regime at all costs, even massacring the population when it threatens the Mullah regime.

Students at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran announced that classes had been cancelled at the start of the new term, except for doctoral students.  Revolutionary Guards used tear gas to breakup crowds of students holed up in the university protesting the death of Amini, but, more importantly, demanding human rights.  Plain-clothed Revolutionary guards surrounded the university in a show of force.  State run IRNA downplayed the crackdown at Sharif University, saying that many students had been released from detention.  German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock condemned “the regime’s brute force” at Sharif Universit, calling it “an expression of sheer fear and the power of education and freedom,  Baerbook knows her German history, the same kind of tactics used by the Nazi SS to coerce and brutalize the German people into full conformity with Hitler’s regime.

Khamenei condemned the scenes of women burning hijabs and cutting of their hair as “actions that are not normal, that are unnatural,” warning that “those that foment unrest to sabotage the Islamic Republic deserve harsh prosecution and punishment,” said Khamenei.  Iran’s spasm of nationwide rioting occurred in 1999, right before the last gasps of pro-Shah protesters were forced out of the country.  Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Basij militia tightened their grip on Iranian society, driving out residual malcontents with Mullah rule.  Over 41 deaths and at least 1,500 protesters have been arrested by plain-clothed Revolutionary Guards.  Alborz Mexami, an economic reporter, was arrested for subversive activities.  As the crack down proceeds, Iranian exiles in London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, gathered to wave Iranian flags and protest the Ayatollah’s brutal crack down.

How ironic that most the protesters are under 25-years-of-age, never knowing in their lifetimes life before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.  Tehran-based university teacher Shaindokht Kharazimi said the new generation knows how to fight back against the Mullah regime.  “The [young protesters] have learned the strategy from video games and play to win,” said Kharazimi told the pro-reform Etemad newspapers.  “There is no such thing as defeat for them,” not knowing that periodic regime protests have gone on for over 40 years.  Kharazimi recalls the 1999 student protests when reformist President Mohammad Khatami backed the most violent street demonstrations since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.   “Don’t’ call it a protest, it’s a revolution now,” students showed at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.  Those students don’t know the Revolutionary Guard crack down currently underway.
