Hunting is considered a sport where one is not bound to choose the tools and types of equipment you would like to use.

Hunting 101 | Ruby x Carmen
The feeling of fear was something Carmen had learnt to keep well under wraps. There was of course the rare moment a few weeks ago when Carmen finally discovered Damon Salvatore’s mysterious secret.  Shock, betrayal, fear; they all took over control of her body and mind, scaring her into a feeling of guilt and worthlessness. Even now, even though she seemed her normal, feisty self she was still hiding those emotions under a blanket of false confidence. In her mind she knew that if she didn’t try and put these feelings behind her she’d never get out, never find the vampires that tortured innocent humans like her friend ruby, and never save anyone.
She’d woken early as the sun was barely rising outside her window. As she pulled up her mid length track pants she tied a little bow in the drawstring before pulling a t-shirt over her head, ruffling her hair into a matted mess. After brushing it through and tying it up with an elastic band she pulled her trainers onto her feet. Before she could do anything else she thought it would be best to wake her roommate and give her time to get ready too.
Carmen had no experience in training anyone at anything, let alone something such as hunting down vampires. She expected that Ruby wasn’t the type to have used even some Carmen’s basic weapons such as a simple handgun. All of Carmen’s guns were modified, so it wasn’t as simple as taking Ruby to a shooting range. She was prepared to put in the time and the effort it would take, no matter how long it took, as long as Ruby was safe Carmen was happy.
She knocked on her roommate’s bedroom door to wake her up and shouted from the other side:”We’ve got a long day, be ready in 20 minutes”
Carmen walked back into her own room grabbing a rucksack which already had most of her hunting gear inside. Kneeling on the floor beside the half full bag she packed double of everything so that Ruby could at least try everything out today, even if she didn’t know how to use them Carmen hoped that she would by the end of the day. She reached for a box under her bed and pulled out the weapons they would need. She carefully placed in a couple of grenades amongst her other equipment. Once she had finished she grabbed her jacket and went to wait in the kitchen for Ruby.
