Growing well in a sunny site with a free-draining soil this Erigeron karvinskianus (Mexican fleabane) softens stone walls, the edges of steps and here forms a foamy surround at the base of this garden seat.

A winter container of cut stems of Cornus cultivars (dogwood) and Salix cultivars (willow) is edged with Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' (Japanese rush). This marginal aquatic perennial is ideal for planting in moist or boggy soil.
