Nooooo Bard, don't develop an attachment to Mike Farrells one-off Bonanza character and try to go on a deep dive into his military service to figure out what the hell happened to him to try that caused him to be the way he was in the one (1) episode he was in, ur so sexy aha

#i am white knuckling my laptop and my copy of marching home by brian matthew jordan #its fucking with me bc bonanza wrote out a scenario that's actually believable as a concept for his character AND I KNOW DAMN WELL #THAT THEY DIDN'T MEAN TO #NOT TO MENTION THE FACT I'M FUCKING COMPELLED BY HIS BACKSTORY THAT THEY JUST GLOSS OVER???#A CIVIL WAR SURGEON WHO GOT BREVETTED TWICE???? TWICE?!?!?!!?#BREVETTING HAPPENED ON ACCOUNT OF BRAVERY OR LIKE OUTSTANDING SERVICE #SO LIKE..... WHAT DID HE DO????#OH AND HE WAS AWARDED FOR OTHER STUFF TOO #im going to chew a hole into my desk bc we get set up with this character and like.... all that info is glossed over #all this to say..... i could have written this episode better #and someone is going to have to stop me from doing it #i can't believe it like..... oh my god he's actually a deeply tragic character but bonanza definitely didn't intend him to be
