every time i see someone say that the darkness outside is a romance set in space i’m like. not.......really.
#reed.txt#'space but make it ~gay~' that is so not the point of that book. like at all.#if ALL you get from that book is gays in space then you missed the whole thing#which is that the darkness outside us is actually an incredibly thought provoking novel about what the fuck it means to be human#and the tenacity that human beings possess even when faced with circumstances so beyond the scope of anything you could imagine#it does tackle what love is and how you can build love. how it's something created and not inherent.#but. i dunno man. that book is so much more than just gays in space ffs#that book fucked me up for 3 days and i STILL think about it constantly#anyway if you want to have your whole entire fucking world rocked please read the darkness outside us it's INCREDIBLE#i devoured it and then felt hollowed out and mourned the fact that i'll never be able to experience it for the first time again#i'm just. i'm emotional all the time about ambrose and his violin.
